have some words of hope. captain scott, thanks for joining us. hollywood hills, that area is now threatened. how bad can this get? >> i'll be honest. we're getting a good upper hand on this. we're very thankful for it. and it's because we've had a little help from mother nature, especially in comparison to yesterday's significant winds. they've died down a little bit. so our aircraft is making some strategic water drops. but yet again, it's another iconic location of los angeles that's on fire. >> given those multiple fires, do you have all the resources you need? >> you know, personally for the los angeles city fire department, we would like more firefighters. you know, the city of los angeles is increasing and growing, and our call volume is going up. normally we run about 1500 emergency incidents a day. yesterday we ran almost 4000 emergency incidents. but when you get a large scale incident like this, we have neighbor helping neighbor and that's automatic aid from the nearby

going to be impacted when you're drawing a ton out of it. you know, it's made to turn on your faucet and to brush your teeth and take a shower. we're using large diameter hoses gathering a lot of gpm, so it's going to suck those tanks down very quick. and so we're trying to get, you know, dwp to make sure they're filling them up as quick as they can because there's an extreme demand. it's a slower refill of those tanks. and needless to say that was a challenge for firefighters. >> and captain scott, in your experience in your career, how does this fire compare to those in the past? >> one of the worst i have ever seen, if not the worst. yesterday's winds were the worst i've experienced and that is absolutely evident by the destruction that we've all seen. and we're not done yet. we're going to have more fires. the fires are going to continue to increase in acreage, but we're doing absolutely everything we have. so we ask you this one
