governments that may be our adversaries and have nefarious intent. >> there are other social platforms with foreign ownership, like onlyfans, which is operated by a uk company. but lawmakers say there's a key difference. but is it not a slippery slope? especially saying that foreign companies, especially in the tech related sectors, can own platforms like this? >> no foreign adversaries. we're only applying it to foreign adversaries, not to everybody. >> but now some of the very lawmakers that voted in favor of the ban are looking for an 11th hour solution. despite the pressure from fellow democrats, the biden administration says it won't grant an extension, but signaled it also won't enforce the ban on the president's final day in the white house. so now it could all be up to president elect trump when he is sworn in on monday. trump once strongly pushed the ban, but in recent weeks has backed off. he himself has 14 million followers on the app. >> now he's saying he wants to

save the app, and he does admit that tiktok helped him get elected. he's met with tiktok's biggest investor. he's invited the tiktok ceo to sit in the front row during his inauguration, and we know from sources familiar with the trump team's discussions that they are talking about a potential executive order to try to keep tiktok available. >> but many, like markey, have been preparing for this outcome. >> right now, i'm primarily focusing on youtube, facebook and snapchat. >> do you think one or the other has more promise? >> facebook and snapchat. snapchat. they've made a way to where you can post your content like it's kind of like tiktok, and then you still have like, stories. so there's multiple ways to try and monetize yourself. >> many content creators are moving to tiktok. alternative apps like chinese owned red note became the most popular app in the apple app store this week. >> i'm on red now. i'm learning chinese right now.
