recognizing the second inauguration of president donald trump. >> the golden age of america begins right now. >> but for millions of others, including in santa clara county and the bay area, it's a day of unknown and fear. >> we are deeply concerned about the deportation policies and impact they have on our immigrant families, like the ones we serve here in east san jose and beyond. these policies strip away the dignity and humanity of those who seek safety and opportunity in our country. >> in his inaugural speech, president trump highlighted new immigration and u.s. border policies. they include a declaration of a national emergency at the southern border, which would allow armed forces, including the national guard, to be deployed to help secure the border. designating drug cartels as foreign terrorist organizations and reinstating president trump's remain in mexico policy, which forces potential immigrants to remain in mexico while their cases are processed, as opposed to staying in the u.s. >> with these actions, we will begin the complete restoration of america and the revolution of

common sense. >> thousands of appointments with immigration officials at the border were canceled on monday, leading to a feeling of despair at the border crossing in tijuana, mexico. meanwhile, here in the south bay, santa clara county is the place you want to be in these turbulent times to the immigrant community in east san jose that the city has your back. city and county leaders reaffirmed their commitment amid uncertainty. the san jose city council will vote to strengthen rapid response network protections in february for immigrant families threatened by deportation, and the county sheriff's office said they will follow senate bill 54 and county policies and not work with ice unless there are criminal threats or charges. with the power of community, residents hope they can overcome new policies. >> immigrant families like ours have the strength to overcome and build to those who have put the targets on the backs of our communities. hear me loud and clear. others may run this country, but immigrants are the

ones who make it run. >> their future is unclear, but their fight for equity remains strong in san jose. dustin dorsey, abc seven news. >> president trump has signed the first executive orders of his new administration, and more are coming. the first executive order revoked 78 biden era executive actions. other executive orders taken include withdrawing from the paris climate treaty, which aims to strengthen the global response to the threat of climate change, and he ordered federal workers return to work in person. he plans to take other actions on immigration and climate, as well as dui and genderdentity. more are expected to be signed by the end of day. >> now, those opposed to president trump's inauguration held an angry protest today in san francisco. in the name of humanity, in the name of humanity we refuse to accept. >> we refuse to accept a fascist america, a fascist america in the name.

>> the group burned the american, confederate and maga flags outside the federal building. they staged similar protests in washington, los angeles, chicago, and houston. in the meantime, trump supporters in california say his inauguration will have a tremendous impact on politics and policies here. staunch supporters stood along an overpass above highway 24, in the east bay and spoke with abc ven news reporter leslie brinkley about what they're feeling and experiencing today. >> flags were flying and trump supporters were celebrating inauguration day on their perch above highway 24, the el curtola overpass became a gathering place for maga supporters and their signs to reach out to the passing traffic, sometimes including run ins with caltrans or local patrols. >> i'm so excited. i'm i'm jazzed. >> today, it was mostly supporters who drove by, fist pumping excitement in the air, but standing on the corner,

only want the best for everybody. >> on inauguration day in the east bay. i'm leslie brinkley, abc seven news. >> and there is an abc news special tonight on the inauguration of donald trump. political analysts offer insight into trump's historic second presidency. watch it at 10 p.m, then stay with us for abc seven news at 11. >> following donald trump's second inauguration today, joe biden headed for california. the former president and first lady spending time in santa barbara county. this is video of them leaving from joint base andrews earlier this afternoon. they will be vacationing at a private home in santa ynez. after that, it's unclear what his retirement will look like. however, he told reporters he will not be out of sight or out of mind. >> all right, let's turn now to the weather forecast. there are several alerts right now, from frost to wind to beach hazards. yes. >> abc seven news weather anchor spencer christian is tracking it all and is here with a look. spencer. >> okay, ama and dan. we have a lot going on in weather, as you

pointed out. we'll start with our beach hazards statement, which will expire at 7:00 this evening. but still, as of now, the wave heights are elevated, the surface is rough, and there is a danger of increased, increased risk, i should say, of rip currents and dangerous sneaker waves. on we go to our wind alert. now this is in effect until 1 a.m. tomorrow, just after midnight. and this is for the interior north bay in uh- mountains and the east bay hills. winds will generally range from 20 to about 30mph. the constant winds. but the gusts may reach 35 to 50mph or higher. there's a possibility of downed tree limbs and power outages. however, the winds are beginning to diminish a bit now. now we have a frost advisory that will be in effect from 1 a.m. to 9 a.m. tomorrow morning. that's for the north bay interior valleys, the east bay interior valleys, the santa clara valley and the eastern santa clara hills. it's going to be quite cold, with low temperatures dropping down to freezing to 32 degrees in some spots. so i'll have more on this and the warm up coming our way later in the week. a little bit

later in this newscast. dan and ama. >> all right, spencer, thanks very much. one person and a dog are dead, several others hurt after a major crash in san francisco. it happened last night just after 6 p.m. at sixth and harrison streets. a person drove into at least six other cars, including an empty waymo stopped at a red light. police say they've detained a possible suspect at the hospital, who may be connected to several hit and runs on two 8-80 just before the crash in berkeley. >> police are investigating a stabbing that left one person dead and two others hurt. it happened saturday afternoon, just a block from a popular park. one of the victims told police he was trying to stop a thief who had stolen his vehicle. abc seven news reporter luz pena went to the area to speak to neighbors and has the new details on the police investigation. >> the stained pavement on russell street is a reminder of what residents of this quiet berkeley neighborhood witnessed on saturday afternoon. what did you see? >> well, there were two bodies. one man was screaming for help

and the other one was inert. wouldn't move. right in the middle of the street. >> this resident, who did not want to be identified, said he saw the aftermath of the violent stabbing of two men and one woman. police dispatch audio indicates one of the victims called 911, saying their car had been stolen and he was following it. >> we've got the row calling in advising their car was stolen, stating they followed it to 1332 russell street. we've now got an open line with a heated 415 in the background. >> minutes later, a second call came in reporting the stabbing, getting another call for a male on the ground, yelling and bleeding from the leg. >> we have multiple stabbing victims here. copy. multiple stabbing victims. >> a police officer can be heard calling for the fire department to send paramedics. >> we need bfd code three over here to burnett. an acton. an unresponsive female. bleeding

from multiple stab wounds. >> the woman was later pronounced dead at the hospital. the two men are said to be in stable condition. this resident said this area has changed lately. he says he's noticed people abandoning vehicles at the end of the street, and he wants police to intervene. >> i see characters coming in here driving and gathering. they're dumping cars. >> it's still unclear what led to this fatal stabbing. yet on the phone, berkeley pd told me this was an isolated incident. there's no cause for concern for the public. many here are still trying to understand what happened. >> it's unusual to see that kind of violent crime here. once in a while. you might see, you know, a car break in or a car get dumped here. but to see a triple stabbing is really unusual. >> in berkeley. luz pena abc seven news. >> come here tonight. rebuilding after the l.a. wildfire tragedy. what happens to all the schools that were lost? the state

hundreds of people attending mlk day events in san francisco. the rail line's mlk celebration train carries passengers from the south bay and the peninsula to the annual march in san francisco. the train travels 54 miles, commemorating the historic 54 mile march. doctor king led from selma, alabama, to montgomery, alabama, in 1965. the mlk day trip includes on board activities, including a free giveaway for children. once the train arrived in san francisco, thousands marched from the caltrain station to yerba buena gardens. the one and a half mile journey crossed the lefty o'doul bridge and stopped at willie mays plaza to commemorate the crossing of the

edmund pettus bridge in selma, alabama. >> the history and legacy of doctor king about loving one another to be non-confrontational and be at peace and just love each person and find that love in each person. that's what we all need. and that's why i'm here. >> new mayor of san francisco daniel lowery and police chief bill scott were also there. at the end of the march, there was an interfaith commemoration bringing together the region's faith leaders to commemorate the vision of doctor king. >> the warriors played a matinee matchup this afternoon as part of the nba's tradition of honoring doctor king. they took on the nba champs, the boston celtics, at chase center, in a game that featured a variety of tributes. warriors and celtics players warmed up in custom t-shirts showing a quote from mlk before the game. doctor clarence b jones was honored as the game's impact warrior. he was doctor king's lawyer and speechwriter, and he authored parts of the historic i have a

dream speech. >> 5:00 on a friday afternoon, martin luther king jr and his aide de camp, bernard lee, is at my door in altadena, california, where i live. doctor martin luther king is sitting in my house asking me, trying to persuade me to come and join and help his case. >> today's tributes also included speeches performed by oakland unified school district students. a wonderful opportunity for them, and the celtics gave the warriors a real test today, one of their toughest of the season. >> abc7 news sports reporter chris alvarez joins us live from chase center, where the game just wrapped up. hey, chris. >> yeah, and the celtics, the defending champs, provided quite a test. it was the warriors worst game of the season here in game 42, officially marking the second half of the season. 41 were down. game 42. they almost lost by that many points. here are some of the game highlights and lowlights. stephen curry scored a team high 18 points. that was good, but he had to sit out the entire fourth quarter in a season high 40 points loss.

they trailed by as many as 45 in this game. the defending champs, led by the dynamic duo of jayson tatum and jaylen brown, who of course went to cal. they scored a combined 39 points. the dubs shot just 14 of 53 from distance. this one was ugly throughout the warriors fall. one 2585 they're back to 521 and 21 overall. here's head coach steve kerr after the game. >> you know we've got to flush this one down the toilet and get ready for sac. we've been very competitive all year. and our guys have have fought uh. but we've had a you know a handful of these where, you know, we just get blown out. and it's these are demoralizing. >> whenever you lose that by that much it's unsettling. it's not it's not good. but you know uh- the way this league is right now and the way, you know, guys, teams shoot the ball. you know it can get out of hand quick. you know we didn't make none of our shots. they made almost all of theirs. >> and that's how it went. draymond green did not play.

causing concern and fire ravaged southern california. an unprecedented third red flag warning for the month of january is in effect through tomorrow for los angeles and ventura counties and other areas. cal

fire has redeployed or pre-deployed. about 800 firefighters, 76 trucks, as well as hand crews, bulldozers and airplanes just to be ready. officials are urging residents to be on alert and prepared to evacuate if necessary. this comes as calmer conditions over the weekend allowed firefighters to reach 87 and 59% containment, respectively, on the eaton and palisades fires. and today, the california state superintendent of public instruction spent mlk day in marin city, where there tony thurmond addressed rebuilding the schools in pacific palisades and altadena that were totally destroyed by wildfires. he says the state has already secured $10 billion. >> i had a chance to tour schools in pasadena and altadena and see some of the damage. it's really heartbreaking, but i also saw really resilient people who were saying that they're going to continue and they're going to rebuild, and we're going to stand by them and help them do

that. >> thurmond says they also are helping some of the residents find temporary housing and connecting them to other needs, like food and backpacks. >> kamala harris and her husband are returning home to los angeles after attending the inauguration. here's video of them leaving the capitol rotunda this afternoon. her flight is about to touch down back in california. she arrives on an air force c-32 with the first all female crew to operate that aircraft. harris plans to visit a fire station to thank firefighters who have been on the front lines of the southern california firestorm. next, she will work with the nonprofit world central kitchen to serve meals to residents displaced by the fires. >> a new phase in her life, of course. and let's go back and talk about the weather in southern california. and of course, our forecast as well. >> that's right. abc seven news weather anchor spencer christian is here. spencer. >> okay. dan. yes. so thankfully, we have no fire weather conditions here in the bay area. we had wind. well, we still have a wind advisory in effect, but right now the winds are pretty tame. as you can see, we've got wind speeds generally under 15mph, with the exception of 20 mile per hour gusts at

half moon bay. as those winds continue to diminish. of course, we'll be less concerned about this wind advisory, but it does remain in effect until just after midnight for the north bay interior mountains and for the east bay hills. winds will generally the sustained winds be out of the north at about ten, about 20 to 30 miles an hour, with gusts between 35 and 50mph. although the chance of gusts that strong is diminishing now. and of course, there is the possibility of downed tree limbs and some power outages. the 24 hour temperature change is pretty impressive. it is quite a bit warmer right now than at this time yesterday. 11 degrees warmer in novato and concord and hayward and san carlos. so on we go to a look at our beach hazards statement, which will expire at 7:00 this evening. but until then, we still have rough surf and dangerous swimming and surfing conditions, and an increased risk of rip currents and sneaker waves. we have a frost advisory where we will have in effect from 1 a.m. to 9 a.m. tomorrow morning. we had one this morning as well. temperatures in the east, in the north bay interior valleys and the east bay interior valleys

and the santa clara valley will drop down to about 32 and the coldest locations. so frost will form at that level and may damage sensitive plants. right now, though, we're looking at temperature readings of 62 in san francisco and oakland, 60 in hayward, mid 60s at san jose and redwood city, 59 at half moon bay, looking down onto the bay from mount tam, we see that temperatures are generally in the 60s up in the north bay as well. and these are our forecast highlights. cold with frost advisory overnight tomorrow, though. sunny and mild with lighter wind, and wednesday through friday sunny and warmer. so for tonight look for low temperatures dropping to about 33. santa rosa 34, vallejo 30 at fairfield. that will be the coldest spot, we think. and around the bay shoreline we'll see lows in the upper 30s. highs tomorrow, generally in the low or low to mid 60s up to about 66 in san jose, which is pretty mild. and i just almost stumbled on my way back to the desk. here's a look at the accuweather seven day forecast. but i remain light on my feet up wednesday, thursday and friday we'll see high temperatures ranging from
