6:14 am
law allows this to take place before the accused person is found guilty. the law is named after lincoln riley, a 22 year old georgia nursing student who was killed in february of last year by an immigrant without legal status. he was found guilty and sentenced to life without parole. trump's executive order spree has not slowed down yet. yesterday, he signed several orders, including one to build a massive facility at guantanamo bay to be used for housing tens of thousands of deported migrants. he also signed a school choice executive order, which is something that he's been pushing for years. it will allow taxpayer money to be spent by families to pay for private schools. and there's another school executive order. it's a big one. it's called ending racial indoctrination in k through 12 schooling. it threatens to cut funding to schools that teach critical race theory. president trump's memo freezing federal grants and loans created widespread confusion and has been rescinded. the white house took back the directive by the office of management and budget that

6:17 am
business again, and we are going to do that over and over again. >> is lurie says that means public safety needs to be front and center, with law enforcement departments fully staffed and visible. >> and mayor lurie's fentanyl ordinance is making headway after clearing its first hurdle yesterday. it made it through the board of supervisors committee, and it's expected to be put before the full board for a vote next tuesday. lori's fentanyl state of emergency proposal seeks to make it easier to address the opioid epidemic, also homelessness. it would also allow for funding contributions from private donors. >> and the last solution on the table mayor daniel lurie, is building on former mayor breed's investment in in hosting citywide concerts to boost the economy and to support local businesses. yesterday, the mayor announced the inaugural s.f. music week, which will feature live performances, studio and venue tours, as well as panels and workshops. it will be held february 24th through march 2nd, running concurrently with a 2025

first dates. >> okay, but do you think that if we book today that it's already booked. >> up for valentine's day? >> probably, yeah. they book up pretty quickly. yeah. >> got to do the earliest seating. >> maybe eat at four instead of seven. you know. >> like us. >> yeah. >> it works. >> well for us. yeah. >> all right. this morning, it's all about getting you prepared for the rain on the way, because it is going to be several days of wet weather. today is the final dry january day, so get those storm preps completed by this evening. rain is back here tomorrow. it starts out pretty light here on friday, but by saturday we have a moderate strength atmospheric river that pumps in a lot more moisture, heavier rain and some strong gusty winds to kick off the weekend. today though, you have no problem getting those storm preps completed. we're dry. it's cloudy this morning, sunnier this afternoon, and temperatures are below average. we're mainly in the 50s. so when we talk about storm preps, i know it's been about a month since we've seen wet weather. make sure your gutters are clear on your house. if you live on a busy street, make sure those storm drains are clear too. this is the biggest
6:20 am
issue when it comes to street flooding. it's because the rain cannot get into those drains. they are blocked. move any furniture inside, secure outdoor objects and check on your trees. see some loose limbs out there. maybe trim them today because we'll have some gusty winds on saturday. so here's future weather. light rain begins to move in here first thing tomorrow morning, and then it's pretty steady throughout the later morning and early afternoon into the evening. tomorrow it's not as widespread. the showers are more scattered, but then we come into that moderate atmospheric river on saturday and the rain is back and it will be heavy at times. that's the yellow you see on your screen, the center of the low, not too far off the coast. and that's why the winds will also be pretty strong on saturday. so it's a level two on saturday for that moderate strength atmospheric river. we'll have heavy rain and gusty winds, especially in the morning. and we do have the risk of flooding. in fact, much of the bay area has been outlined for that increasing risk of localized flooding on our roads and even on our smaller streams and creeks. that's something we'll watch very closely on saturday. let's talk snow. we're going to get some big numbers
6:21 am
here over the weekend. probably two feet of snow on our highest peaks. and then watch what happens next week. these are some big numbers we're talking about. so we're going to see a lot of fresh powder in the sierra the next seven days. accuweather seven day forecast storm preps today. rain is back tomorrow. the wettest days we have on the seven day will be saturday and then again on tuesday with heavy rain and gusty winds. guys. >> all right drew thank you so much. good morning america is coming up at 7:00 right here on abc seven. >> and ginger zee has a look at what's ahead. >> gloria amanda it is great to be with you coming up here on gma. our team is on the scene of the deadliest commercial plane crash in the united states in more than 15 years. an american airlines flight was approaching the runway in washington, dc when a black hawk helicopter collided with it. they fell into the potomac river and the water temperature there barely above freezing in the mid 30s, hundreds of first responders have raced to the crash site. they've been working throughout the night. and at 7 a.m, we're going to bring you the latest developments, including the investigation and the reaction
