is on the way. >> and a move today by president trump that could launch a tariff war. how an executive order he signed today will impact your finances. abc seven news at six starts now. >> always live abc. >> seven news starts right now. >> it's a soggy sunday. parts of the bay area under a flood watch right now. our wet weather is set to last with more powerful storms on the way. good evening and thank you for joining us i'm dion lim. we are in for days of rain as we take a look at live doppler seven, showing the latest round of showers soaking parts of the bay area. we of course are on storm watch tonight with a live look at conditions right now where the golden gate bridge definitely looks soaked. that pavement is all wet. it is gray and dreary as well and the rain continues. let's bring in abc seven news weather anchor spencer christian with more on this timeline. spence. >> okay. dion. so it is essentially a soggy sunday, but it's going to be a

saturated monday and tuesday. looking at live doppler seven right now doesn't look like much because our current storm is weakening to just a few light areas of light rain and scattered showers. still, though, we have a flood watch in effect for solano county and that area out near the carquinez strait and the delta until 10:00 tonight. but more rain is coming on to the bay area, and we are certainly going to have an increased danger of flooding over the next few days. you can see that atmospheric river aiming directly toward the bay area. so for this evening, it's just the remains of this level one storm, which will taper off overnight, but that will be followed. and look at the forecast animation here by a stronger storm tomorrow, bringing heavy rain, periods of heavy rain, strong gusty wind. it intensifies even more on tuesday. it could be a level three storm by tuesday on the exclusive abc seven storm impact scale. so we've got two days of very stormy weather with a great deal of rainfall coming our way and strong, gusty winds. we expect rainfall totals over the next few days to reach up to about three inches or more in the wettest locations. i'll have the complete accuweather

seven day forecast in just a few minutes. dion. >> all right. looking forward to it. now as spencer mentioned, this storm right now is a one onr storm impact scale. and it is really leaving a mark on the north bay. let's get to abc seven news reporter cornell bernard with a look at some of the damage and the worry. with more rain coming. >> about five minutes to ten last night we started hearing popping and cracking. >> lisa carino says she's been concerned about this 200 foot tall douglas fir, which once stood near her forestville home. >> and then it sounded kind of like a soft thunder coming down. >> the giant tree falling on her neighbor's house, damaging the roof line, taking out a fence and part of the back deck. >> this is the best case scenario of a worst nightmare, but nobody who was inside was injured. and i'm really, really grateful for that. >> this tall tree falling over west side road on saturday. >> right now the soils are incredibly saturated, so the tree systems are relatively

weak. and then you add wind to that. we're getting we are seeing a lot of trees coming down. >> captain colin ramos from the sonoma county fire district says the latest atmospheric river has brought several inches of rain and flooding. by sunday morning, slosser road in the russian river valley was under nearly a foot of water, but many drivers were still going for it. not michelle lee and her friends from martinez. >> there is an enormous amount of flooded water coming through. the vineyards are all flooded. the road is flooded. we can't get through. we can't drive through that. >> she decided to turn around and find an alternate route. other roads in nearby windsor are closed due to flooding. >> if you do come across roads that are closed, please don't drive into the roadways. >> this is ross station road here in sonoma county. right now it's looking more like a lake. green valley creek has flooded its banks, and it's cut off the entrance to this winery. with more rain coming, the fire department swift water rescue team will be standing by along the russian river.

>> they're trying to move things accordingly to pre-position things the best we can. but a lot of this is going to be dependent on the public trying to stay out of areas they don't need to be in, right? >> in sonoma county. cornell, bernard abc seven news. >> a health advisory remains in effect for martinez and parts of pacheco and clyde following yesterday's fire at the martinez refinery. today, contra costa health hazmat crews were out checking the air quality and as the smoke continues to clear, officials are recommending residents with respiratory sensitivities remain indoors with windows shut today. four people were taken to the hospital for non-critical injuries or health concerns because of the fire. it sent large clouds of black smoke and prompted a temporary shelter in place yesterday. the fire's cause is still under investigation. then in richmond, officials say there has been intermittent flaring at the chevron refinery today. they say the richmond fire department is closely monitoring conditions.

health officials say those flaring are not a threat to the community. well, president donald trump acknowledged today that americans could feel, quote, some pain when tariffs go into effect tuesday on goods imported from mexico, canada and china. he signed the executive order yesterday, and that move was met with disapproval by our usually friendly neighbors up north. >> every. >> yeah, you heard it there. that is the crowd at a hockey game in ottawa booing today during the playing of the us national anthem. abc news reporter perry russom has reaction as mexico's and canada's leaders say they will retaliate. >> president trump signing executive orders imposing a 25% tariff on all goods coming from mexico and canada, with a lower 10% tariff on canadian energy and a 10% tariff on goods from china. trump blaming all three countries for illegal immigration and drug trafficking, an accusation they

deny. canada says they've made progress at the border, with crossings down 89% in recent months. >> less than 1% of fentanyl, less than 1% of illegal crossings into the united states come from canada. >> prime minister justin trudeau says canada will retaliate with 25% tariffs on more than $100 billion in u.s. goods, criticizing the very premise of trump's decision. some canadian provinces ordering government run liquor stores to remove american alcohol from shelves. >> canadians are perplexed. i think disappointed. we view ourselves as your your neighbor, your closest friend, your ally. >> mexico's president also vowing to retaliate with tariffs of their own. blasting the trump administration for accusing her government of working with drug traffickers, saying that, quote, the people governance in mexico, not the cartels. and china's government denouncing the tariffs, saying it will take unspecified countermeasures against them, but still leaving the door open for talks with the u.s. those tariffs set to go into effect on tuesday just

after midnight. trump acknowledging in a social media post there could be some pain for americans with implementing tariffs. >> you campaigned on lowering prices. you campaigned on this wallet, but your tariffs will have more money come out of this wallet for so many goods and services. >> the tax foundation estimates american families could pay $800 more on average this year, with those tariffs in place, and moody's chief economist estimates inflation will rise by about a half a percentage point by this time next year, adding americans can expect higher prices for fresh produce, clothing, electronics, cars and more. perry russom, abc news, washington. >> here's a closer look at the items we could be paying more for due to those tariffs. popular mexican beer such as modelo and corona, as well as distilled spirits such as tequila, could see an increase. home construction and furniture prices could also take a hit. 30% of softwood lumber that the

u.s. uses annually is imported from canada. and the cost of shoes and sporting equipment, including items like baseballs, football, soccer balls, etc. could go up as well. more than half of the shoes sold in the u.s. are also imported from china, and the u.s. gets 75% of its toys and sports equipment from china. investigators are trying to pinpoint the causes of two separate fatal air crashes that happened just two days apart. on friday, a medical ambulance flight crashed shortly after taking off from a philadelphia airport. you can see that huge crater from the impact. all six people on board died, including a mother and a child who was a patient at shriners children's hospital in philly. one other person on the ground in a vehicle was killed, and at least 22 people were injured. >> five of the victims remain hospitalized currently, and three of them are in critical condition. >> last wednesday, 67 people

died in the mid-air collision between a passenger jet and a military helicopter in washington, dc. families of some of those victims visited the scene today, where salvage operations are set to begin tomorrow. separately, a critical aviation warning system that went down yesterday has since been restored. a fire tore through parts of a veterans home in san francisco. the challenge crews faced as they fought those flames and a deadly virus is spreading among dogs in one neighborhood. tomorrow, there's

[jim valvano] don't give up. don't ever give up® of this six story apartment building on kearny street in union square. one person was taken to the hospital. a second resident is getting help with housing from the red cross. some residents were told to shelter in place, while others were forced to evacuate. >> there are many people in this building who are invalids, so firefighters did have to use the stairs and carry many victims out to get out of harm's way. >> the veterans nonprofit swords into plowshares began leasing the former stanford hotel from the city in 2014. that site

provides permanent housing for 131 veterans. happening tomorrow in san francisco, a free vaccination clinic in response to a rise in parvovirus among dogs in the tenderloin. that outbreak began back in november. parvo is highly contagious and a viral infection that affects dogs. it can be fatal but is also largely preventable. the spca, animal care and control and saint anthony's foundation are teamed up to administer those shots. this will be the first of two free clinics, with the next one being on march 3rd. well, sunnyvale is getting a new animal shelter after losing shelter services. the city announced that the county of santa clara animal services on monterey road in san martin will house the animals. last friday, the humane society of silicon valley notified sunnyvale that they will no longer provide animal shelter services. no word, though, on exactly why. the county of santa clara animal services center says it takes in about 4000 animals

a year. the city of san francisco has a new poet laureate. an inauguration ceremony was held for 77 year old jenny lim today. she is the first chinese american in the role. she was chosen by former mayor london breed back in september at the recommendation of a committee. lim performed some of her work at the sf public library, along with some youth poets and past laureates. >> we know we can do what i can never do. they cannot love because they not like us. they not like us. we improvise, we cool. we're greater than the sum of our parts. we bury our ancestral bones, our shadows, our baggage. we cast our fate to far flung gods. >> yeah. what energy? so dynamic. lim received a certificate of honor acknowledging the big things she's done for arts in the city. all right, so with all this rain we are getting, there should be

news where the center part of the country experiencing extreme heat. >> record highs. yeah. yeah. and it's getting colder here. and it will be colder in a couple of days in the sierra so that no go will become a snow go. oh. >> i should have known. >> no days. here's a look at what's happening in our area right now on live doppler seven. you see just a little bit of scattered shower activity and some light rain. now there are some wet spots, but this system is really winding down though, as you can see on the satellite radar composite image, we still have that atmospheric river flowing directly into northern and central california. it lifted just a bit today, which is why we're not getting a lot of rain right now. it will drop over the next couple of days, bringing us stronger, heavier rainfall and some strong, gusty winds as well. right now the wind is fairly brisk. we've got a 28 mile per hour gusts at sfo and 22 mile per hour winds over in fairfield, so it's breezy. now it will get windier over the next couple of days as those storms move in our direction. 57 degrees in the city right now we have low 60s at oakland, hayward, san jose, mid to upper 50s at

half moon bay and redwood city. it's wet at the golden gate. the rain had ended there late in the afternoon, but it has apparently redeveloped. and so the pavement is wet and it's a slow go. pretty much all around the bay area, because we've had so much wet weather and the ground is saturated. many roadways are slick and slippery. we have temperatures in the mid 50s right now at santa rosa and petaluma and napa, upper 50s at fairfield, concord and livermore. let's check out our forecast headlines as we look out over quiet conditions in emeryville tonight. more light rain, mainly up in the north bay, but as you can see, it may hit other parts of the bay area as well. tomorrow rainy and windy by afternoon as a level two storm on the exclusive abc seven storm impact scale develops. and on tuesday, that storm is likely to get even stronger to a level three. so we've got a couple of very stormy days coming our way early in the week. right now, though, we're still looking at a level one storm for this evening, producing light scattered showers, mainly in the north bay. breezy to gusty conditions. rainfall totals from this storm will be under a quarter of an inch, and as you can see

going into the late night hours, it continues to lift and to weaken. and then in the few hours right after midnight, we'll have virtually nothing going on in terms of significant weather. but later in the day tomorrow, we'll have that level two storm developing and expanding. we still have a flood advisory. a flood watch actually in effect for solano county and the carquinez strait and delta until 10:00 tonight. the ground is saturated over much of the bay area. and as we get these stronger storms coming in early in the week, there will be greater chance of more widespread flooding. certainly an expanded flood watch. here's our forecast animation starting 6:00 tomorrow morning. notice that stronger storm continues to intensify into tuesday before it starts to weaken, and we'll have a winter storm warning in efft from 1 a.m. 1 p.m. tomorrow to 7 a.m. on wednesday for the sierra. so low temperatures in the low 50s tonight, highs tomorrow in the low 60s. and the accuweather seven day forecast shows a parade of storms just continuing through the end of this week. >> late last night we witnessed one of the biggest trades in nba history, luka

doncic, going to the lakers. anthony davis goes to dallas. and just within the last hour, another california team making a big time move. espn reports the sacramento kings plan. let's make a deal with the san antonio spurs and chicago bulls. three team trade a lot of moving parts. but de'aaron fox that guy headed to san antonio to join wemby. while zach lavine who the warriors have been in possible conversation with goes to the kings along with three first round picks and three second rounders. lavine, as i mentioned, had been involved with the warriors, at least in rumors. the nba trade deadline is thursday at noon. pacific. what will the dubs do? the trade i referenced moments ago, the three team deal between the lakers, mavericks and jazz. luka doncic going to the lakers. anthony davis headed to dallas, the first time two reigning all nba players have been traded for each other midseason sent shockwaves throughout the league last night and even into today, many wondering if it was real. of course, now it is. and today, dallas gm nico harrison. head coach jason kidd reacting to the big move. >> i think everything that we do, we put a lot of work into it. we study it and we restudy
