j. cole, they claim that the two of them, plus kendrick, are the top three rappers in the game. >> love when they argue the hardest emcee is it? is it aubrey or me? we the big three like we started a league. but right now i feel like muhammad ali. >> that seemed to set kendrick off. he wanted to make it known that there's only one king and like that with future and metro boomin. >> i think i won't drop the location. i still got ptsd, mother. the big three. it's just big me. >> with the battle in full swing, drake and kendrick both dropped back to back records, but the biggest blows are still to come. drake released a song accusing kendrick of domestic violence and kendrick releasing another going after drake's entire family. >> it was a horror film lyrically, because within those four verses he's addressing not only drake's son adonis, drake's father dennis drake's mother sandra, he's also addressing this alleged daughter, which was a bombshell that everybody in

hip hop, he nuked them. he nuked them. at that point. >> not even 24 hours later, kendrick drops what goes on to be the anthem of the summer, and at the heart of drake's subsequent lawsuit, not like us. >> sometimes you gotta pop out and show certified boogeyman. i'm the one that upped the score with them on certified lover boy certified pedophiles. >> drake's immediate response was another diss track, the heart part six. first i was a rat. so where's the proof of the trial? then where's the paperwork of the cabinet? it's filed in. >> so he's pretty much saying, you're making all of these claims. show me the facts, show me the paperwork. >> but the real paperwork was filed in court when drake sued. not kendrick lamar, but universal music group or umg, which represents both artists. >> all of these lyrics, and even more, is at the heart of drake's lawsuit because he's saying he's not a pedophile. he's never been adjudicated or even arrested or charged as one. he's not in any kind of sex offender

registration list. and so all of these allegations are defamatory, and they go directly to the harm that he points out, or even just his reputation falling by the wayside because of it. >> claiming these accusations led to a harrowing shooting that injured one of drake's bodyguards. the suit also alleging that the record label promoted kendrick at the expense of drake's career. umg saying in a statement, in part, not only are these claims untrue, but the notion that we would seek to harm the reputation of any artist, let alone drake, is illogical, further saying he now seeks to weaponize a legal process to silence an artist's creative expression and to seek damages from umg for distributing that artist's music. we have not, and do not engage in defamation against any individual. we will vigorously defend this litigation. abc news reached out to both drake and kendrick lamar's team for comment. drake's team did not respond. kendrick's team declined to comment. >> i don't remember anybody suing anybody because of a rap

beef. are you guys taking the fun out of the art? maybe. does drake have a stance where he feels like it's a defamation of character? i don't know, he got bruised. he didn't get killed. >> rap feuds have been engrained in hip hop culture since the mid 80s. from roxanne shante hitting back at the rap trio utfo with roxanne's revenge to cardi b and nicki minaj igniting a feud in 2017. but perhaps the biggest of all goes to the notorious b.i.g. and tupac shakur. >> what people don't understand is that biggie and pac were really friends. really friends. this is big. >> dj enuff was biggie's tour dj. he had a front row seat to how the feud played out. >> lil kim i always felt like with these rap beefs, if they could all keep it on record, if they could all keep it on stage, that's to me where i want it. but biggie died. pac died. something was terribly wrong.

>> and then all of a sudden, it wasn't funny anymore because we lost both of them in a very short period of time. it was beef. it was hip hop with that. losing them was not hip hop. >> this is not drake's first beef. in fact, he became known for them, the rapper poking fun at himself in an snl sketch back in 2016. >> hey, anybody using this chair? >> actually, i was using it was for my hat, but you took it from me. now we never going back. >> do you think that this records are a part of hip hop culture? >> to a certain degree, yes. i mean, i know everything has always been about boasting and bragging, and that's always been a part of, like, who we are and we're telling stories. and half of the stories are fake. you know, like a lot of these guys portrayed gangster, but they're not gangsters. the real gangsters want to be rappers and the rappers want to be gangsters. it's a tale. >> in the battle of the wordsmith versus the hitmaker, each rapper now fighting for the

ever, surrogacy is an accepted way to expand families. >> i just kind of wanted to hug her and say, i got you, girl. like i got you. but the more that we tell our stories, the more we will be able to maybe not change minds that can never be changed, but open minds that don't quite understand. >> the emily in paris star and her husband, charlie mcdowell made their announcement on instagram, introducing their baby girl named tove, saying, quote, words will never express our endless gratitude for our incredible surrogate and everyone who helped us along the way. we love you to the moon and back again. and while many of the comments were incredibly supportive, others were not. taking to the comments section himself, collins husband wrote, it's okay to not be an expert on surrogacy. it's okay to not know why someone might need a surrogate to have a child, and it's okay to spend less time spewing hateful words into the world, especially in regards to

never know. >> oh my god, oh my god, are you kidding me? >> that's a journey sarah bentley knows. well, she was just 38 years old when she found a lump in her breast. within days, she was diagnosed with stage two breast cancer. >> the thought of my baby coming was what got me through breast cancer. >> sarah posted all about her diagnosis and surrogacy journey online. she's received plenty of support, but like lily collins, she says there are haters too. what are some of the things people have said to you about this journey, and how do you respond to them? >> people said it was modern day slavery. we would get handmaid's tale. we got a lot of if god wanted you to be a mom, then you'd be able to have a baby. at the end of the day. i never responded to any of them. i wanted to, but you know, you can't engage with terrorists, right? you can't engage with keyboard warriors because they're they're not there to

have a conversation. >> she and her now husband, james, had always planned to have children. luckily, she was able to begin fertility treatments as she also prepped for a double mastectomy and chemotherapy. >> we are en route. to the second egg harvesting. we were able to create one healthy embryo that we named chance. >> sadly, sarah's doctors advised against trying to carry the pregnancy herself. what was that like for you that moment? >> yeah, i'm already crying. you bringing me back to hearing those words that i think it's one of the most difficult things that you can face is as a woman who, who really has dreamt of being a mom is to lose the ability to do that. >> the search for a surrogate brought her right back to social media. >> there's so much unknown about surrogacy and so much misinformation out there. so i
