very cold. the winds are light. we're anywhere from 2 to 4 degrees colder than we were yesterday. so the trend continues through the 7:00 hour. still plenty of 30s, a few low 40s. so even san francisco dropping off this morning by 10:00. we've got a few numbers around 50, but it takes throughout the day once again to get us through the 50s. but we've got increasing high clouds. so mid and upper 50s for your afternoon highs today, a dry day for your monday. most of tuesday is dry. we're bringing in our storm impact scale late in the day, and that's going to allow for some showers perhaps along the evening commute. and then we're going to talk about a stronger atmospheric river headed our way on thursday. good morning gloria. >> good morning to you lisa. good morning to everybody. >> at home. so lisa mentioned a dry day. we're not seeing any impacts to the roads today. of course later that week that could change as you could have some slick commutes out there later on this week. but right now we're looking at our traffic cameras here. we're not seeing too many major backups or delays. ths

a live look at our bay bridge camera. you can see the upper deck. we are seeing some cars there, but they're flowing nicely. no major backups at this time. and looking live at our san jose 101 880 camera, you can see those headlights heading towards the city, but it is an easy drive from the south bay into the peninsula, heading towards the city. looking at your drive times for right now. tracy to dublin 37 minutes san rafael to san francisco 16 minutes and antioch to concord, 14 minutes. reggie. >> gloria. thank you. this morning, six people are recovering after they got hurt when an suv smashed through this parklet outside a san francisco bar. many people were gathered at the napper tandy in the mission district to watch the super bowl yesterday when that crash happened. police say it was the end of a chase that started near the stonestown galleria. officers responded to a call about a wanted vehicle and when they tried to stop the suv, the suspects took off and that is when the chase began. witnesses described this terrible crash. >> and then we heard these tires

break loose like someone's out of control in their car. the structure on the street, people were sitting totally exploded. car kept coming. i thought i was about to die. >> police say two women tried to run after the crash. police caught up with them and arrested them. >> in the north bay last week. storms have brought up new concerns for first responders and residents near the russian river and gloria. the community is already preparing for potential flooding and landslides. >> that's right, amanda. the flooding of the river last week left plenty of work to do in the north bay. this week. you can see some footage that we have here on this rv flooded, prompting rescues and evacuations as three feet of water took over the neighborhood. residents are worried that the area will be at risk of flooding again if the water levels don't drop soon. a guerneville resort was underwater, and now that flooding has receded, workers are trying to dry out furniture and clean up on top of flooding. first responders are worried about the possibility of another

landslide in the north bay. >> this is the kind of stuff we're up against. and as you were asking earlier, if we get one more rain, we're going to have more and more of these. in forestville, an unoccupied home was swept into the russian river by a mudslide, and in santa rosa, over a dozen residents remain under evacuation warnings after a landslide destroyed a home there. rain is supposed to pick back up on wednesday with the ground already saturated, officials are on the lookout for future mudslides. amanda. >> all right, gloria, thank you. and today, meta employees will find out if they're being laid off as part of a new round of performance based job cuts. affected workers will be notified by email this morning. last month, facebook's parent company said it planned to cut 5% of its workforce. that's more than 3000 people. meta offis say workers who are considered to be the lowest performers would be let go. the menlo park based company plans to backfill the positions later this year. >> this week, international leaders and top names in the tech world will meet to discuss

what's next for the future of ai. an international summit on ai regulation kicked off in paris this morning. leaders from google spoke ahead of the summit about the challenges of regulating a tech that's changing so fast. >> it's important to regulate ai, but it's important to get the regulations right, and that's hard when the technology itself is not fully understood and it's so fast moving. and it also needs to be international because ai is going to affect all countries, the whole world. and as a technology and it's it needs to there needs to be sort of international cooperation around that. >> the summit aims to find common ground between the trump administration, china and 100 other countries when it comes to regulating ai. >> today, a federal judge in boston will consider whether to block president trump and elon musk from carrying out their unprecedented plan to buy out tens of thousands of federal employees. it comes as musk and his department of government efficiency continue to shrink. the federal government now closing the consumer financial

protection bureau, the watchdog group, was established after the 2008 financial crisis to safeguard americans finances, according to an internal email obtained by abc news. employees were told to cease all activity. in an interview with fox news, president trump hailed musk's efforts. >> he's not gaining anything. in fact, i wonder how he can devote the time to it. he's so into it. >> yesterday, president trump made another surprise proclamation ordering the treasury department to stop minting new pennies. he called them wasteful, though it isn't clear if production will stop since congress decides specifications of our currency. the president also making headlines after seeming to double down on proposals to make canada the 51st state and sees the gaza strip. the trump. >> i think that it's a big mistake to allow people, the palestinians or the people living in gaza to go back yet another time, and we don't want hamas going back and think of it as a big real estate site, and

the united states is going to own it and will. >> the trump administration has also been pushing a series of policies targeting the lgbtq community. and now leaders from san francisco for san francisco pride are sharing new steps they are taking to increase security. local lgbtq leaders tell abc seven news reporter tara campbell. a climate of threats is forcing them to adjust their day to day work. >> a sense of urgency this weekend, among the nation's largest pride organizations, from san francisco to new york leaders gathering in atlanta amid what's been a flurry of actions by the trump administration taking aim at the transgender community. >> i expect people are going to be emboldened and we are going to we are going to encounter more threats this year. >> sunday, we spoke with s.f. pride executive director suzanne ford. >> we are going to take out our security plans and look at them to make sure that, you know, they're not some things that we

with the preparations already underway for next year's game. hi, lena. >> hey, reggie. good morning to you. now that super bowl 59 is over, all eyes are here on santa clara as they take the reins and prepare to host the next super bowl, something they have already been busy getting ready for over the past year and a half. now, later this morning, officials from the nfl and new orleans will pass the ceremonial football to a bay area delegation, including san jose mayor matt mahan. mahan is among the bay area officials who spent the weekend in new orleans for the game. his office says he spent time looking at other events in the city happening around the super bowl. he also took part in two days of pretty intense meetings with the nfl and the new orleans super bowl host committee. this comes as levi's stadium is in the middle of a $200 million renovation to prepare, despite being nearly 11 years old. that includes installing a new led field lighting system and new video boards that will be the largest

4k display in the league. the bay area host committee estimates hosting the super bowl could have an economic impact of anywhere from 370 million to $630 million on the region, with up to 160 million of that just in santa clara county alone. now, today's handoff ceremony is happening in new orleans. that's expected to happen in about 90 minutes. and mark your calendars, super bowl 60 will be happening right here at levi's stadium on march 8th of next year. live in santa clara. lena howland, abc seven news. >> all right, lena, thank you. and overnight in philadelphia, eagles fans went wild over the team's super bowl win. of course, they flooded the streets swarming downtown, climbing up poles. they got on top of garbage trucks and bus stops. and at one point, fans even set a fire. now, police were able to eventually disperse the crowds in the early morning hours. so far, there haven't been any reports of serious injuries. and as you can imagine, celebrations in san francisco were a lot more

tame. our cameras found local eagles fans watching the game at north star cafe in north beach. the eagles beat the kansas city chiefs 40 to 22. >> all right. in this life with you, i won't let go till the end. >> before the game, there was a touching tribute for the victims of recent u.s. tragedies. nfl legend tom brady and gma's michael strahan introduced lady gaga in a solo piano performance on bourbon street. gaga sang hold my hand. the tribute recognized those impacted in the new year's truck attack in new orleans. the los angeles wildfires and the plane crash in washington, d.c. >> and seven time grammy award winning singer songwriter jon batiste was tapped to sing the national anthem. batiste is a louisiana native, and in an interview before the performance, he told reporters he wanted to honor his late grandfather, who served in the military. president trump was in attendance for the game. he becomes the first sitting president to attend a super

cities across northern california. the new analysis could dramatically change which cities must follow heightenedch wildfire safety rules. cities and counties with local fire departments not relying on cal fire have not gotten updated hazard maps in 13 years. the state uses those maps to decide which places must follow fire safe building codes. once these new assessments are issued, local officials have four months to update their policies. >> this morning, a warning about a phishing scam falsely claiming to be from costco. the sonoma county district attorney is alerting people about the message that offers people a new ninja creamy ice cream maker. so officials say the fake costco email is actually an attempt to steal financial information or gain access to computers. they recommend checking the sender's email address to verify the email. realtor.com is pulling its headquarters out of santa clara and moving to austin, texas. in a press release, texathe company's ceo of news

francisco's oldest cannabis shops came out to say goodbye over the weekend. the vapor room is closing down as the owner recovers from a violent attack last month. martin olive was shot seven times outside his soma district shop. the shooter was killed in a standoff with police and a motive has not been determined. friends set up a gofundme to help olive pay medical bills and other expenses. we do have a link to that at abc7 news.com. >> the city of pinole is about to lose its safeway. the store, located in the appian 8-80 shopping center, is now set to close on april 4th. the city says the owners have not put the property on the market, and are planning for it to remain a supermarket. this is another blow for grocery shoppers in our region. last week, the safeway in san francisco's fillmore district closed for good despite community efforts to save the store. in a statement, the city of pinole said it will update the public on next steps as details become available. >> now it's time for our abc seven mornings advance. here we

preview some of the headlines you'll be seeing in the bay area this week. >> first, environmental activists are holding a town hall over the moss landing battery plant fire. erin brockovich is leading the virtual town hall tomorrow. brockovich's fight against p-g-and-e's in the 90s was turned into an oscar nominated film. during the meeting, attorneys will discuss the lawsuit against vistra energy, which runs the moss landing plant, and p-g-and-e's, which uses the power stored there. >> also tomorrow, fremont city council is set to vote on a first in the state plan on homelessness. now, this ordinance would make it a crime to aid or abet a homeless encampment. doing so could result in a $1,000 fine or six months of jail time. aid workers are now concerned that their work to bring food and supplies to encampments could get them arrested. the mayor says they will not be targeted. >> and we're next. advancer. the latest round of job cuts at san francisco schools are beginning to take shape. san francisco unified superintendent maria su is expected to present a plan to

abc seven news reporter lena howland is live outside levi stadium, where preparations for next year's big event arens for already underway. hi, lena. >> hey, reggie. that's right. for santa clara. their work to prepare to host another super bowl started as soon as the nfl announced they would get to host it again here at levi's stadium. more than a year and a half ago. this go around for hosting the super bowl. san jose mayor matt mehan said the city is looking to create a world class fan experience in downtown san jose. city leaders are working to create fan activations around the super bowl, something mehan pictures as a series of concerts, block parties, watch parties and more that can leverage the city's public spaces. all things mehan spent time in new orleans studying over the past few days during his visit. the city also recently hired tommie o'hare, an olympian in short track speed skating, to help serve as the city's sports and special events director and help bring the vision

for a downtown fan experience to life over the next year. on top of the super bowl, he'll also be coordinating the fifa world cup and march madness games, coming to the south bay next year. the bay area host committee estimates hosting the super bowl could have an economic impact of anywherem 370 million to $630 millionherem across the region, with up to about 160 million of that just in santa clara county alone. but before any of that happens, the officials from the nfl and new orleans will pass the ceremonial football to a bay area delegation, including mayor mehan. that is expected to happen in just about an hour in new orleans. live in santa clara. lena howland, abc seven news. >> thank you. lena. a san francisco health company is facing backlash and scrutiny from lawmakers over its super bowl ad. you might have seen the ad by hims and hers pushing its weight loss drugs. republican senator dick durbin and democratic senator roger marshall say the commercial
