counting down to the 2025 chinese new year parade. just two more days, two more sleeps until the big event. you can watch live right here and everywhere else you stream abc seven. we're saying two days ago, two days ago, and now it's really two days to go. >> i get it. yeah. and it's so exciting. >> yes. the parade is billed as the largest of its kind outside of asia and draws tens of thousands of people. >> hundreds of thousands. yeah, we got a preview from organizer tony lao on what to expect on saturday, as well as something new. that sounds really cool. >> yes. so this is so exciting. i mean, the parade is in just two days right here on abc seven. i know a lot of us from the team will be out there, so we're so much looking forward to this. what are you most excited about? >> oh my god. i actually it's funny because i actually do have a clock right in front of my desk right now. have a countdown time that is like 30 hours or
4:47 pm
so. but anyway, i'm definitely excited because we are having a lot of event going on to celebrate our lunar new year, and we have a firework. we have a 289 foot dragon uh. we have a lot of firecrackers. we have a lot. we have a total of 21 unit that is going to join us. we have about 65 other working walking units that are joining us. and of course we have our drone show first ever in the parade. and it's going to be happening this saturday. >> okay. so some things that people are familiar with, like the dancers that we see on the screen right now, the firecrackers as well. but the drone show that will be all new this year. so that's something for folks to look forward to. for people who are thinking of coming out to the parade, and they won't be watching us live here on abc seven when it kicks off at 6 p.m. but for folks coming out, what do they need to know? like what time should they try and get in place? where should they try and watch the parade route traffic? >> definitely. for sure. i mean, one of the reasons why i have a
4:48 pm
lot of friends and family coming over to definitely want to enjoy the parade. also, i'll tell them that to be there early, trying to get to the parade, or if you're the bleacher, or if you are around the parade route trying to be there around 4:00. public transportation is my recommendation because parking is going to be hard. and also driving in downtown is going to be difficult, especially with the nba all star game. and also after the parade is over, trying to get out from the parade route is also a challenge. so i totally recommend public transportation to everybody. >> those are some really good tips right there. tony and i wanted to ask you, can you tell us a little bit about the significance of the parade, why it's so special culturally? >> well, the parade, the chinese new year parade, we've been doing it for the past 60 some odd years already, and it basically putting everybody together into one community event to understand our culture. our chinese new year
4:49 pm
celebration. and the best of all is to connect everybody together so that in case of anything event happen, we work together as a team. we share our resources, we share our knowledge. and that's what i'm looking for. one of the reason why i've been doing this chinese new year parade for the past 26 years is because i get to meet so many people that can, we all can connect it to each other, helping each other out, even not doing the parade time. >> we know that this is really exciting for us here at abc seven news, because this is the first year of our multiyear partnership with the chinese new year parade, and we're going to be broadcasting this thing all across the bay area, but all across the world as well. how do you want to see chinatown and san francisco displayed on this world stage? >> definitely. i mean, first of all, i feel really fortunate to work with abc seven. we are very excited. i see all the familiar faces. we all work together as a community and definitely i want people to see us. san francisco
4:50 pm
is actually a it's a safe place for you to visit. there's a lot of area, there's a lot of businesses are working really hard together to make this all working out. and so to make all people coming in to visit us, to join us, to, of course, spend a little bit money to support us. and san francisco is a safe place for everybody to visit us during the parade time and off the parade time. >> it's going to be just a fantastic time, so come join us. but if you cannot make it out there to the chinese new year parade in person, you can certainly watch it live right here on abc seven and not miss a thing. coverage starts at 6 p.m. saturday wherever you watch abc seven. >> and they still got some tickets to the chinese parade.com/tickets. so get those if you're looking for those bleacher seats right. >> very few left, but i understand they are there and in a good section. so check that out or just join us there and the weather is going to be fine. >> it's going to be perfect. we could not have begged lisa to give us a better forecast than
4:51 pm
this. >> yeah, it did work out, didn't it? with the timing, we are still looking at some pretty good rain around the bay area, but the heaviest impacts the flood warnings into southern california with some big problems with the burn scar area. but look at the widespread rain around the bay area. it is still coming down and we've got pockets of downpours here into marin county, southern marin, around tiburon, upper parts of the north bay where we're into wilbur springs, highway 20 and 29, some rough weather and over into the east bay, looking at scattered light showers and then a solid deck of rain there from saratoga into the santa cruz mountains. so until 645, we are looking at a flood advisory into the east bay. so another two hours where we're going to see some ponding on the roadways, possible tree limbs coming down, and for the rest of the evening we're looking at the gusty winds. level two system 25 to 45 mile an hour winds with a 10th to a third of an inch of rain. so over 40 miles an hour has been the last hour. but now we're
4:52 pm
seeing 35 to about 40 miles an hour upper elevation, still 50 miles an hour. so pretty dicey for your ride home. and look at the winds staying elevated as we go through the overnight hours. it's breezy as we get into your friday, but the rain has ended and a quick look at the rest of the shower activity. we'll get a break in the next few hours, and another line of rain from 10 to 11:00. things quiet down towards the morning hours, so we're looking at about a 10th of an inch to a third of an inch in the wettest locations. surf is going to be building over the weekend, so we've got that to contend with, but at least the weather calming down after later on tonight. julian. >> kristen okay, we're almost there. thank you so much. lisa. he's just one day away from making his big screen debut as the new capn america. >> and like most captains, anthony mackie had to earn his stripes while the trip back into the marvel universe included a stop in the nevada
