sausalito. the chp says three lanes will be closed until about 8 a.m. as crews work to clear the rocks. >> in sonoma county, crews are dealing with flooding and mudslides for the second week in a row. we watched several cars as you see drive through flood waters on green valley road in sebastopol tonight. more than a dozen roads are closed in sonoma county because of tonight's storm, and several more still haven't reopened after last week's rain. >> now, looking live out from san francisco in san jose on this rainy and windy night, abc seven news meteorologist sandyha patel is tracking the final hours of this sandy. a level three storm. >> that's right. dan. this atmospheric river has delivered a drenching and has really whipped up the winds. want to show you what's left of it? it's not giving up yet. we still have a lot of rain moving across parts of the east bay. it's light to moderate in intensity right around san ramon. livermore, across 580. the santa cruz mountains have been hit hard, and the wet weather continues across the summit, as you can see here. so we do have flood advisories for parts of

the south bay and parts of the north bay. as we take a look at the flood warning that is still going for sonoma county until 1230 in the morning. creeks have flooded. we've seen roadway flooding. winds are gusting 45 miles an hour. oakland hills we've seen 66 at atlas peak earlier in the day. raindrops on our lens from our exploratorium camera. as we look at san francisco and statewide, we are seeing quite the soaking. southern california has seen its share of damage from this level three storm. it is a strong storm. thunderstorms did develop right west of monterey earlier tonight. and as we go, hour by hour, midnight tonight, we will still have some rain as we head into the 4 a.m. hour. the commute. parts of it will be impacted by a few more showers going into 7 a.m. look at the storm reports. over 100 reports so far of debris flows, wind damage, and of course the rain causing the flooding. this is a level three through tonight. scattered downpours, gusty winds, dangerous surf is next up. i'll be back with a full

look at the forecast which does include your weekend. coming right up. >> all right, we'll check back. thanks, sandhya. take a look at this. a debris flow swept a los angeles fire department vehicle into the pacific ocean tonight. the driver got out. has only minor injuries. thankfully, that vehicle is now being battered by the rough surf off the malibu coast. developing news in southern california, where the storm is causing lots of problems in the burn scar areas, mud and other debris covered parts of the pacific coast highway. that area was hit hard during the palisades fire. there's also a slide in the eaton fire burn area that's up near pasadena, but it is going into a basin which is keeping it from flowing into a neighborhood. there are evacuation warnings in place for people in both regions. >> and a bit closer to home. here's a live look at santa cruz, which is just getting soaked. there is a high surf warning in effect and the wharf is closed. closing tomorrow. it will likely not reopen until saturday. a huge section collapsed right before christmas during a storm. as you may recall, capitola is also bracing

for dangerous conditions. its wharf was heavily damaged in 2023 and as a precaution, was closed. today, several businesses also are not taking any chances and put out sandbags to try to keep the water out. >> it is not quite like december, but it is nonetheless big and dangerous and the words life threatening have been used, which is why you see so many closures. i think santa cruz has closed a number of beaches, state parks, has closed a number of beaches. >> the timing of this storm is a concern since tomorrow, of course, is valentine's day and then monday is president's day. restaurants on the wharf say they are all booked up, but those plans could get washed out. >> our second week of stormy weather does have at least one positive. california's reservoirs are filling up. abc seven news reporter lauren martinez shows us the impact to the bay area's water supply. >> bay area reservoirs are filling up from powerful rainstorms. >> we should expect, you know, a lot of runoff into lexington from the storm. that that

watershed is getting a lot of rain. >> santa clara valley water district spokesperson matt keller said after the dry start to the year, water levels at their reservoirs went from 70% of normal in mid january to 82% now. >> so it's obviously on the upward swing, and then with this rain and then all the runoff that's going to be coming over the next few days, i expect that number to go up. >> at california's two largest reservoirs, shasta lake and lake oroville, the bureau of reclamation has increased the amount of water flowing out to make room for more water coming in. as of thursday, shasta lake was 82% full. >> you like shasta and oroville? you know, they're they're full and they're way above normal for this time of the year. >> and keller said this is important because half of santa clara county's water supply comes from that system, as well as san francisco's hetch hetchy system. yeah. a windy and snowy day was captured by skiers at palisades tahoe on thursday. the snowpack is an essential part of

people to come forward if they know anything about this case, or another staffer from the school arrested last month accused of having child sex abuse material. the district has not commented. >> we are heading into a critical weekend for san francisco and its reputation on the world stage. the city is in the spotlight with the nba all-star game, plus the chinese new year parade. the pressure is on for city leaders to deliver a safe and clean weekend. abc seven news reporter tara campbell dives into the public safety initiatives at work this weekend and beyond. >> from san francisco police to the sheriff's department, it's a full court press this weekend for nba all star events and lunar new year celebrations. >> every member of this department, both sworn and professional staff that are dedicated to making sure that our city is prepared for this big moment. >> san francisco police chief bill scott, taking to the podium thursday alongside other public safety leaders, saying the city knows how to do big events.

>> san jose firefighters had to rescue some dogs and puppies after they were trapped this afternoon on an island in the guadalupe river. two people also got stuck as the water started raging because of today's storm. look at all those little puppies! in all, firefighters saved two dogs. four puppies. they're now in the care of animal control services. >> that's the picture of the week. that is. all right. >> new developments tonight in the tick tock ban, americans can once again download the app onto their phones. the app was removed from google and google stores. apple and google stores after a tiktok ban went into effect last month. president trump then delayed the ban, making the tiktok usable again, but it still wasn't downloadable. on thursday, the attorney general reportedly told the companies they would not be prosecuted for hosting tick tock. >> a new federal study says bird

flu infections may be spreading more widely than testing is currently capturing. the cdc says blood samples of veterinarians show evidence of past bird flu infections, even though they didn't treat animals known to be infected. the new study is one of two on bird flu that were delayed after the trump administration issued a pause on outside communications from federal health agencies last month. the other study still hasn't been released. since last march, there have been 68 confirmed bird flu infections in humans. robert f kennedy jr is now the health and human services secretary. the senate vote was 52 to 48. kentucky senator mitch mcconnell was the only republican to vote no. kennedy is a known vaccine skeptic, but has vowed to, quote, make america healthy again and reform the nation's public health agencies. he was sworn in today by president trump. >> the national park service has removed any mention of transgender or queer people from its stonewall national monument website. the stonewall uprising

in 1969 is widely considered the beginning of the modern gay rights movement. the movement was notably led in large part by trans women. the website changes appear to fall in line with president trump's order to not use federal funds to promote gender ideology. >> get another bay area safeway location is closing soon. the company said in a statement that the vallejo location on admiral callahan lane will close on or around april 11th. employees will be assigned to a new location. the company said the decision was made in response to quote, the store's financial performance and ongoing safety concerns. the vallejo safeway on robles way and lincoln road will remain open. >> p-g-and-e's shattered profit records for the second year in a row. the utility announced today it made $2.5 billion in profits last year. over that same time, state regulators agreed to six separate rate increases. east bay state senator aisha wahab is proposing a new plan to limit

to san jose. we are taking you into street level radar where it is light rain at this hour. dark shading of green showing you the flood watch that goes on until 10 p.m. saturday. remember, takes a while for the water to run off from the streams and the creeks, and the ground's already saturated, so any showers that we're getting right now could exacerbate existing conditions. we saw a lot of ponding on the road today. we also saw, of course, some of the damage from the debris flows and stuff from the rain that was piling on a wind advisory until 10 a.m. tomorrow. gusts to 55 miles an hour could still cause some tree limbs to go down and a few outages. our live views from our tower cameras. we're still seeing some snow on that camera. rain drops on some of our other lenses. all eyes on the santa cruz camera where the waves are building. the rain came down. i have seen 6 to 7in in remote south bay and santa cruz locations of rainfall so far. ben loman close to a half a foot of rain two inches there in san francisco, just under that in

oakland, three inches san rafael, two and a half, almost santa rosa, napa over two, along with hayward, san jose, 1.46. and look at this 70/400 of an inch in concord. temperatures right now you're in the 40s and the 50s. if you are heading out the door early in the morning, keep your umbrellas handy. it is a level three, a strong storm through tonight. scattered downpours, gusty winds and dangerous surf as we go. hour by hour. midnight. you're still looking at some pockets of rain going into the 4 a.m. commute time hour. some scattered showers, but this will become a level one tomorrow, so a light system for the early morning hours. 6:00 a couple more showers and then this is done. additional rain. we're not expecting a whole lot more. as a matter of fact, it's going to be anywhere from 1 or 2 hundredths of an inch to about a 10th of an inch of additional rain. winds will remain gusty, not just tonight, but a little bit of a drop off and then breezy heading into tomorrow. so not quite as windy as it has been. surf's up 18 footers at point arena. high surf warning until 3 a.m.
