continue through sunday. >> and we are counting down to the 2025 chinese new year parade. tickets for bleacher seats are now sold out. it is now less than 24 hours away. this is billed as the largest parade of its kind outside of asia, and it is expected to draw tens of thousands of people. >> finishing touches are being put on the floats, and tonight miss chinatown is being crowned. abc seven news reporter lauren martinez was there. as the excitement builds toward tomorrow's parade. >> number 14. >> miss chinatown usa crowned its newest winner in san francisco. 13 women representing chinatowns from across the country competed for the title inside the westin saint francis on friday night. >> it is the sisterhood. there is nothing else like this pageant. the community within it is something so special. >> ashlyn tsui won the crown in 2023. >> electric. there is so much

going on in the city and everything is just exciting. leading up to the chinese new year parade. >> the city is buzzing. earlier in the day, we found the colorful and elaborate parade floats that will make their way from market and second street and end on columbus. if you want to immerse yourself in the sights and sounds, visit chinatown. 500,000 people are expected to visit this weekend. the chinese new year community fair will take place right here on grand avenue on both saturday and sunday. >> she. >> this pageant has celebrated chinese culture for decades. it brings a spotlight back to the community. crystal li won the crown in 2022. >> we really hope that with this special event and leading up to chinese new year, parade really brings in more tourism back to chinatown and make it alive again. >> alex fong, who helped organize the pageant, said. keep an eye out for miss chinatown, who will be on the final float of the parade. >> so the great thing that sticks out to me is that how so many people come together, not

touch steph. tomorrow night we got the three point shootout skills competition slam dunk contest. and then the actual all star game sunday at chase center. and we'll have a lot more coming up in sports. all right. >> sounds good. >> yeah. it's fun. a lot of stars in town. >> thanks, larry. >> it is. it's a blast. obviously basketball fans are taking over moscone center this weekend for the nba crossover. it's part of the nba all star game event. the crossover lets fans of all ages shoot hoops, dribble, and dunk like their favorite players. plenty of the courts offer unique quirks like robotic baskets or maybe led walls. we caught up with a couple of diehard warriors fans from fairfield who brought their granddaughters to the city for the experience. >> we're all a family full of basketball fans and we just love. >> watching basketball every time it's on and when the season's over, we're bored. football's all right. >> yes it is. football is cool. >> baseball love baseball and basketball. >> and we're strong warriors fans. >> how fun. they're having a

great time. the experience runs through sunday a day. tickets are $25 for kids, $50 for adults. now, the stars were definitely out in oakland across the bay for the celebrity game. it featured a mix of actors, musicians, online personalities and athletes from other sports. the coaches, a couple of bay area sports legends barry bonds and jerry rice, no less. abc seven sports anchor sarah hodges was there. >> the celebrity all star game was a fun filled event. it started off with a green carpet event where i got to interview a lot of interesting characters. >> i'm a do a lot of fouling. i don't know about jokes. i say i'm locked in. it will be some fallon, though. somebody called me draymond green around there. they know what's going on. so they know. they know what's about to happen. >> but what's a game without a little trash talking right. and there was plenty of it, especially when it came to jerry rice and barry bonds, the two bay area legends going back and forth pregame. so barry said that he's the bigger bay area legend. what do you got to say

seven news for the latest developments. the san francisco sheriff's office confirms people impersonating department of government efficiency officials were at city hall today. three men dressed in doge shirts wearing maga hats entered several offices just after noon. they demanded digital information related to alleged wasteful government spending and fraud. employees refused and called sheriff's deputies, but the men had already left. investigators do not believe this was a legitimate doge inquiry. >> our media partner, the east bay times, is reporting that the now defunct dublin women's prison could be repurposed by the trump administration as a migrant detention center. ice agents have been conducting an assessment of the facility yesterday and today, according to a federal prison leader. he says a structural assessment of the prison was carried out over the summer and was later turned over to ice. two months ago, the federal bureau of prisons announced plans to close the compound after years of sexual abuse led to scores of lawsuits.

>> new. at 1112, gray wolves captured and collared by the california department of fish and wildlife, have been released back into northern california. the collars will help the department monitor the wolf population for diet, diseases, land use preferences and where they go when they leave their packs. this information helps with conservation efforts, of course, and minimizes conflicts with livestock. right now, the department is aware of seven wolf packs in california. in the north bay, all lanes of highway 101 in sausalito are open tonight. yesterday's level three storm caused a rockslide that blocked several lanes of rodeo drive right before the spencer avenue exit in the southbound direction we're talking about here. caltrans crews worked all day to clear the debris, and everything reopened at about 6:00 this evening. >> a los angeles firefighter is out of the hospital and resting at home after his car was swept into the ocean thursday. the firefighter managed to escape the car with only minor injuries. heavy rain on thursday caused a mudslide on the pacific

coast highway in malibu. crews worked today to recover the car as you see there, which was carried off the road in the debris flow. a tornado touched down in oxnard in southern california yesterday afternoon. winds of 70 to 90mph ripped roofs off mobile homes and damaged carports. residents heard a gurgling sound just before the twister hit. >> really loud. and i looked to my right and i could see this flash of white debris. >> what scared you the most? >> that if the house was going to break all down. because this was my childhood house. >> despite the damage, no injuries were reported. no residents displaced. power was knocked out temporarily. the weather service says it's been about a year since a tornado hit the greater los angeles area. >> this is a live look at santa cruz tonight, where the high surf has closed, the santa cruz wharf and several beaches. the plan is to reopen everything tomorrow morning. you may remember a 150 foot section of the wharf collapsed right before

christmas day in a big storm. it reopened last month and the city at this point doesn't appear to rebuild it. ready to rebuild it today. governor newsom declared a state of emergency, which will free up resources to help with the recovery effort. >> all right, let's get a check on our weather. the weekend is finally here. important weekend. >> big, important weekend. so much going on in the city. abc seven news meteorologist sandyha patel is here. sandy? >> yeah, and dan and ama. the weather looks to cooperate for all the events that are happening. the storm is long gone, but it kicked up the surf. and so we have a very energetic surf right now. this is a live view from santa cruz. keep in mind if you are going to be out there, even though the high surf warning is going until 3 a.m. tomorrow, it's going to take some time for the wave heights to come down. current wave heights 7 to 13ft. life threatening conditions, especially at west facing beaches. all right. yesterday's storm delivered last 48 hours, anywhere from about an inch and a half to six inches of rain.

here's a look at where we stand in terms of rainfall. percent of average. so oakland 7.95 67% of average. livermore just above that. san jose 84. and you will notice santa rosa almost 37in of rain. you're way above average at 169. san francisco 116% of normal. now we take a look at the statewide snowpack. it's 95% of average. we did see pretty good snow in the last couple of days. with the storm that came through anywhere from two to almost five feet. this next storm system is not going to bring us any big time storminess, but it's going to bring us a lot of clouds tomorrow and over the weekend, and then there will be a slight chance of seeing a couple of drops around here on sunday, but best chance is going to be in the north bay on live doppler seven. we do have some fog that we're tracking. visibility is down to four miles and a half moon bay tomorrow morning. be careful if you're out and about.

here's a view from our exploratorium camera. as san francisco is getting ready for the chinese new year parade, it is going to be dry for tomorrow. 48 degrees right now in the city it is 45. in oakland, 46 san jose, low 40s, redwood city, half moon bay. look at this. the city by the bay sparkling tonight. 42 in santa rosa 37. petaluma 40. from napa to concord to livermore. and one other live picture from our emeryville camera looking at the bay bridge there. dangerous surf, large breaking waves overnight, cold inland areas of frost. and tomorrow we expect the dry skies for the parade. but grab those extra layers. you will need them later on uh- 1 a.m. to 9 a.m. the north bay valleys and the eastern santa clara hills under a frost advisory. temperatures down to the low 30s in the coldest spots. so here's a look at your temperatures first thing out the door 35 in napa 34. fairfield 35 livermore. bundle up in the morning. it is going to be cold in the afternoon. you will see partly to mostly cloudy skies 58 degrees in the city 59. oakland 60 and santa rosa, 62. san jose
