park service. just ruined my dream. >> a clear sign of disapproval from yosemite workers making their voices heard over job cuts ordered by the federal government. abc seven news at six starts now. >> always live. abc seven news starts right now. >> of course. continue to pray for pope francis. at this time. >> prayers from the bay area and beyond for pope francis. he released his own written prayer today saying he was, quote, confidently continuing his hospitalization. good evening, and thank you for joining us. i'm dion lim. doctors today say francis's condition is touch and go. here's the very latest. 88 year-old. pope francis underwent another round of tests this morning. the vatican says blood tests showed early kidney failure but that the pontiff remains alert. he received a blood transfusion and is receiving oxygen therapy. the

pontiff was admitted to a clinic in rome on february 14th, when he was diagnosed with pneumonia in both lungs. today, he participated in mass at the hospital. abc seven news reporter cornell bernard attended a sunday mass in san francisco, where the pope remains top of mind for everyone. cornell. >> yeah. hey, dion. we weret saint mary's cathedral, where many of the faithful are praying for the pope's recovery. some parishioners are so worried about his health. they were in tears just talking about the pontiff. >> bless the lord, o my soul. >> sunday mass at saint mary's cathedral included many prayers for an ailing pope francis. >> for all the sick and those in need of prayer, especially pope francis. >> the pope's latest health struggle taking a critical turn only days after the vatican said he was in stable condition last week. >> we pray for him again that he might enjoy strength and protection and peace as he is

conservatives and liberals who said it wasn't enough. secretary robbie savage is visiting from l.a, and she got emotional when speaking about the pope. >> well, first of all, it brings tears to my eyes because he's been such a blessing to the world. he's been such a blessing to the world. and may god grant him health. may god. >> the san francisco catholic archdiocese is monitoring the pope's health very closely. prayers will continue at all masses for the pontiff. cornell, bernard. abc seven news. >> cornell. thank you. now, the latest on a story. we're following the search for the person who shot a hillsborough police officer. police say they interviewed a person of interest in south san francisco earlier today, but made no arrests. they are now asking for dash cam footage from drivers who were traveling on el camino real between oak grove avenue and bellevue avenue yesterday afternoon, between the hours

of 330 and 415. the shooting happened outside the hillsborough police department. police say an officer was in the parking lot when he was ambushed and shoty an unknown person. the officer then fired back and the gunman ran off. investigators returned to the scene today to gather evidence. police say theather department was specifically targeted and that hillsborough residents don't have to be concerned. >> hillsborough. burlingame is like the safest neighborhood, and i would never expect anything like this to be happening in my neighborhood. >> the injured officer was treated at a hospital and is expected to be okay. happening tomorrow in the north bay. county officials will talk to the community about what could be four hour long evacuation times in the event of a wildfire. the sonoma valley study, called safe projects that an hour after an evacuation is announced, traffic on arnold drive and highway 12 between kenwood and the sonoma city limits will slow

to 1 to 2 miles an hour. and in a worst case scenario, some residents will even face nine hours in traffic. tomorrow's meeting wille held at altamira middle school on arnold drive at 6:30 p.m. this afternoon. ukrainian americans and supporters in the bay area held a rally in san francisco. the protesters marched from harry bridges plaza by the ferry buildingo pier 39 to mark the third anniversary of russia's war in ukraine. they're calling on the trump administration and congress to facilitate peace and a lasting end to russian aggression. today, ukrainian president zelenskyy said he would step down if it meant peace for his country. with ukraine being granted nato membership. uc berkeley scientists joined with a california congresswoman to talk about federal cuts to research funding. east bay congresswoman lateefah simon held a round table with those scientists on friday. simon highlighted how cuts to the national institutes of health will impact research

underway in the bay area. she is among a group of lawmakers who sent letters to the trump administration voicing concerns about a proposed 15% cap for indirect research costs for all nih grants. we are learning more today about the doj's employee cuts at yosemite. take a look at the top of el capitan, where you can see a group of frustrated staffers hung an upside down flag in protest. the terminations affect about 1000 newly hired national park service employees. they include workers who maintain and clean parks, along with others who educate visitors. the park's search and rescue teams have also been impacted. termination letters were sent out last week. >> nothing will prepare you for the for the shock that you'll really get once you once you get that letter because you know, it's everything i love. it's the park service. i mean, our national monuments and parks are just our greatest treasure. and it's just ruined my dream.

>> following criticism, the trump administration said it plans to restore at least 50 jobs across the parks. the park service says it will also hire more seasonal workers than usual in the south bay. today, dozens of people gathered to protest immigration customs enforcement. >> that went. >> they met in san jose, outside the mexican heritage plaza. that protest, organized by the silicon valley immigration committee, who are calling for no deportations and no ice in san jose. this all comes as the trump administration promises a crackdown on illegal immigration across the country. congressman sam liccardo is back home and talking to supporters. he appeared today at a ceremonl swearing in to talk about the tough task ahead. >> a new spirit is rising and a torch must pass to a greatest generation that is still waiting to be forged. this is our moment

department of public health says more than 900 californians, including 15 children, have died from the flu since the beginning of october. that number is higher than the past six flu seasons. most of those deaths

have been in people over the age of 65. but with 15 children have having died. that is concern among health officials. public health officials also say there has been low vaccination rates this year. former vice president kamala harris has received the prestigious chairman's prize at the 56th annual naacp image awards. it was her first major public appearance since leaving office. she called the civil rights organization a pillar of the black community, and urged people to stay resilient and hold on to their faith during the tenure of president trump. >> this chapter will be written not simply by whoever occupies the oval office, yes, nor by the wealthiest among us. the american story will be written by you. written by us. by we people.

>> other past winners of the chairman's prize include former president barack obama, as well as the late congressman john lewis. well, this afternoon, thousands of people packed downtown oakland for the eighth annual black joy parade. began at 14th street and broadway and ended at broadway and grand avenue. more than 100 groups took part, including 100 black fraternities, sororities, dance clubs, and community groups. the annual parade is an opportunity to come together during black history month to celebrate community and resiliency. this year's theme was finding joy in those small moments. >> black joy, to me means pride. it means cultural connection. it means creativity. it means community. and that's what we're all about at black infant health. and so being here is just amazing because this gives us a chance to, again, directly connect with people. >> abc seven proudly live streamed the black joy parade

local restaurants say we'll have to pay more there as well. in sonoma county, the press democrat reports that max deli in santa rosa now has a $2

surcharge on egg dishes. the price increased to $1.50 for an egg sandwich on the menu at fruity moto in windsor. there was an avian flu outbreak in sonoma county back in december of 2023, when more than a million birds died. no cases, though, have been reported in the county this year. all right, getting to the weather situation, i mean, i know you are chock full of puns when it comes to eggs. i'm not even going to try. >> well, i had an excellent one waiting to go, but we'll hold it for later. well. >> i wanted to do something saying about, like our our weather seems scrambled. >> it does? >> yeah. yeah, yeah. okay. >> okay. to move on to the weather. here's a look at the satellite radar image. you can see clouds streaming in our direction. more towards the pacific northwest. as a matter of fact, i'm going to back this up and give you a better view because this is the forecast animation. so let's start with this one. and you can see that there's a little bit of an atmospheric river flowing in the pacific northwest. some of that

moisture made its way into the bay area this morning. but we only had scattered sprinkles. and we may get some more tomorrow morning. right now, though, we're looking at wind speeds in the breezy category, but not very strong or gusty. live view from the east bay hills camera looking westward 56 degrees in san francisco right now. oakland 57. 60 at hayward 59. redwood city 59, san jose. redwood city 61 and 55 at half moon bay. nice view from mount tam looking down onto the bay. 61 in santa rosa right now. mid to upper 50 at petaluma, napa and fairfield. low 60 at concord and livermore. and these are our forecast headlines tomorrow morning. there may be some patchy drizzle, mainly in the north bay. won't be very widespread. tuesday through friday look for well above average temperatures is going to feel very spring like. although spring is a month away and next weekend it will turn cooler with a chance of rain. here's our overnight forecast animation starting at 9 p.m. notice how thick the clouds will be going into midnight and after midnight, and a couple little spotty showers may hit the peninsula coastline there. but once again, we're

not expecting any widespread or measurable rain tomorrow. just some scattered patches of sprinkles. and by afternoon or evening we'll see much clearer skies tomorrow and drier conditions. rainfall estimates show that we may see 1 or 2 locations getting getting about 100th of an inch of rain from this system, and that's about it. so on we go to overnight low temperatures, generally in the low 50s. very mild tonight. the cloud cover will keep temperatures from dropping into that chilly zone. so we'll see 50, 5152 degrees for most locations san jose a low of 55. and then highs tomorrow won't be much higher than the overnight lows in some spots about ten degrees higher or so. we'll see. it's going to be a mild day though. we'll see highs generally in the mid to upper 60s, which is above average for this time of the year. and speaking of above average, as we look at the accuweather seven day forecast, check out wednesday. warming up big time. we'll see highs in the mid 70s low to mid 70s near the bay and inland. it will be still mild thursday and friday going into the end of the month, but as march
