>> abc seven news reporter lauren martinez spoke to the lawyer representing the couple. >> hello. you've reached the hot enchilada in moss landing. we are currently closed to the public due to the ongoing vistra lithium battery fires. >> the owners of a popular restaurant in the coastal community of moss landing have shuttered their doors indefinitely. in a lawsuit filed thursday by kim and luis solano. it alleges the fires that broke out on january 16th and reignited february 18th at the vistra energy battery storage facility have caused them health, injuries and damage to business. >> they saw pretty quickly that business had dropped around 50% of what they would typically expect for this time of year. >> the law firm cotchett, petry and mccarthy out of burlingame are representing the solanos. the hot enchilada cafe, gallery and social club is a restaurant, a gallery and a private event space. a map shows the proximity of the battery plant and the restaurant. >> there have been assurances

from local, state and federal officials that things are safe and that uh- normal. you know, the air the air quality is fine. and while that's all nice to hear, we want some actual proof of that. >> less than half a mile away is the inn at moss landing point, a boutique hotel with 30 rooms. the owner, bhavik patel, just took this hotel over on december 1st of last year. >> the timing of the fire uh- just couldn't have been worse. >> patel said the initial fire caused cancellations for the first few days and caused guests to cancel six months out from now. >> i fielded a call where i guess, you know, called in and asked, like, is the air safe to breathe? i'm still seeking legal counsel and weighing out my options to see, you know, where do we go from here? >> business owners like patel want to advocate their community is hurting for business. >> moss landing isn't very commercialized. like, you know, monterey is or carmel, etc.

evening we'll call it mostly cloudy with 50s and 60s. rain is on the way. i'll be back to let you know if it's going to impact your weekend plans coming up. >> all right. thank you. sandy. we'll check back. a judge in san francisco ruled today the recent mass firing of probationary federal workers by the trump administration is unlawful. the judge ordered the office of personnel management to rescind directives to agencies like the department of defense and the park service. the ruling comes in response to a lawsuit by labor unions that said officials not only lack the authority to order terminations, but that notices to workers were premised on a lie of poor job performance. the presidio trust, which has found itself in the crosshairs of the white house, revealed its finances today. it says it earned $182 million last year, demonstrating it can be self-sufficient. also, it has generated more than $350 million in net income since it became financially independent in 2013. the presidio trust needs to present a report to the trump administration by march 4th.

>> a one day boycott of the country's biggest retail stores is set to begin at midnight. the advocacy group the people's union usa has organized what it calls an economic blackout, calling for consumers to boycott major store chains and avoid unnecessary purchases all day long on friday. they say the goal is to show corporations, quote, who really holds the power. let's move now to some new developments with disturbing allegations. in a case of animal abuse out of pittsburgh. police tracked down the two suspects today in oakland and they were arrested. video showed one of them kicking a dog during a dispute, sending it airborne. it's not clear when this incident happened, but pittsburgh police first reported it on monday and said they were investigating today. felony warrants were issued for these suspects. >> city officials in vallejo say their new approach to reducing violent crime is already showing results. city leaders announced the arrest of multiple people accused of gun trafficking and

selling drugs. the bus led to the seizure of 12 firearms, 11,000 fentanyl pills and at least $100,000 in cash. one operation included arrests at multiple locations across the city, including a daycare. >> i want to send a message to the criminal element that the days of thinking that you can come to vallejo and do your business with impunity are over. this is the beginning. we are committed to increasing our resources and building on these efforts. >> the new partnership with vallejo police includes assistance from the department of the department of justice. excuse me, fbi and solano county sheriff's office. a late night raid at a san francisco park ended with dozens of arrests and people running from the scene. san francisco police and other agencies carried out the crackdown on the drug market at jefferson square park yesterday. neighbors say it's recently been an epicenter for drug dealers and users. after efforts to clean up the nearby tenderloin district, police chief bill scott says officers arrested 84 people and confiscated more than

a pound of drugs, including fentanyl. >> i think it sends a message that this will not be tolerated in our city any longer and the city, in partnership with all the city departments and the mayor, are working seriously to address this crisis. >> residents who complained are relieved to see action has been taken to curb drug markets in the city. >> tonight, the berkeley fire department kicked off a series of wildfire and disaster preparedness classes. the fire department says it's always wise to have a household plan to make and help make important decisions before fire weather starts so that you are prepared. that includes knowing when to leave, where to go, what to bring with you, and having a number of evacuation routes. it's certainly best to leave early to avoid any major traffic problems. >> the main concern is getting folks out of the hills so that they're in areas that have more capacity to move if there's a fire and we need to further evacuate. >> this is important. important

is on. no one does the oscars like good morning america. >> there are new details tonight about the death of legendary actor gene hackman and his wife. investigators say the couple and one of their dogs were apparently dead for some time before a maintenance worker discovered their bodies at the couple's home in santa fe, new mexico, on wednesday. detectives wrote in a search warrant affidavit that the deaths were suspicious enough in nature to require a thorough search and investigation. hackman's body was found on the floor of a mud room in the home. his wife's body was found in a bathroom with an open prescription bottle and pills scattered scattered around her. the investigation now just beginning. a napa county woman is out $300,000 after being wooed by a man she met on a dating app. now she's sharing her story and the expensive lesson learned with seven on your side investigates. abc seven news reporter melanie woodrow has the story.

each, she transferred more money to him. goswami thought she was doing her due diligence. she had sent her a picture of his license and even his passport. it's not clear whose photo this may or may not be, or who goswami was speaking with on the phone. but as for his address in los altos, it is a real home and shivram krishnan is the real owner. >> when he first called me, i had no idea what you're talking about because i had no idea this had happened at all. the fact that they've gone to this level of detail meant that they really wanted to show some credibility. >> information. goswami only found out later. >> i was asking him, how come you are not on social media or anywhere else on google? he said he is a private person. so i believe that, you know, i was hypnotized. whatever he was telling me, i was kept on doing it. >> this person is a regular, trusting human being who was targeted by a professional. >> aaron west was a prosecutor with the santa clara county da's office for more than two decades. she now runs a

nonprofit educating people about scams called operation shamrock. >> we're seeing a lot of loneliness now. people are more vulnerable to those who reach out to them digitally. >> she says dating apps are aware that bad actors are targeting victims on their platforms. >> these platforms have an affirmative duty to make sure that their platforms are safe for those people who use them. >> abc seven news investigates reached out to okcupid. we have not yet heard back. on the dating apps website, under trust and safety, okcupid provides tips for avoiding romance scams and directs users to the u.s. federal trade commission website for more tips. west says legislation is needed so that dating apps can share personal information across social media platforms. once fraudulent activity has been identified. >> once we know that this photo and this identity is being used on one dating app, we should make sure that that photo and identity is erased from all dating apps. >> as for harry, after goswami spoke with her daughter about
