think about people who are here, you know, 200 years ago. >> hackman and his wife were found inside the santa fe home they loved so much. deputies finding the 95 year old on the ground near the kitchen area. one observing a pair of sunglasses located near the left of his body, leading him to believe the male individual has suddenly fallen. the bodies showed signs of decomposition, indicating they had been dead for some time. >> there was no indication of a struggle. there was no indication of anything that was missing from the home or disturbed. >> they immediately, in a bathroom in the home, found hackman's wife, betsy arakawa, that she was down inside the bathroom. there were pills that were strewn about. there was a prescription medication bottle that was near her. >> one of the couple's dogs, a german shepherd, found dead about 10 to 15ft from arakawa in a closet of the bathroom. the couple's two other dogs found

>> you look pretty good too, sparky. >> now she's the star of the netflix comedy series running point. welcome to nightline, kate. >> thank you. >> well, first of all, you're at the top of your game, which i love. decades into your career. i mean, you've gone from rom com darling to fashion it girl to fashion mogul. thank you very much. i mean, you make having it all look easy, but clearly it's not. >> nothing worth having is ever really, i think, easy. but i love what i do, and i got so lucky with people that really were cheerleaders for me, and especially sort of the foundation of my acting career, like early on, just got to work with so many great directors and people. so it kind of built the foundation for all these other things to come. >> that's awesome. and i know you're having a blast doing this series where you play isla gordon, and she's a former party girl who is trying to prove herself as the president of an

about basketball. it's about the family dynamic and this very dysfunctional family. and being the only girl and a family of boys. >> it's also about a woman in a male dominated industry. and that line about like, don't mess up on behalf of all women. >> right. yeah. yeah, we can all laugh at that because we've kind of. yeah. well it's true. >> and the and the nepo baby of it. all right. i mean, because your parents are very illustrious. you are far from a nepo baby, but did you draw on any of your personal experiences? >> i mean, a franchise business family is very different than what i grew up in, you know, for me, when you're a family of artists and storytellers, it's a very different thing. i mean, to me, it's interesting that nepo baby became a thing because nepotism is really more, i think about people who have businesses, and their families are quite like real, like wealth, and they kind of carry on that family legacy like that.

whereas art, you know, people are going to like it or they're not going to like it. >> and either you're talented or you're not. >> well, yeah. or, you know, or it's art is just subjective and but but with jeanie and her, that legacy that you have this enormous franchise that your family built and that you're maintaining and, and carrying on and hopefully growing is there's so much pressure in that. >> i have to tell you, my sons are huge fabletics fans. >> oh, i love it. >> and you are a founder of that company. and tell me, like you're also a working mom of three. how do you maintain all of the balls that you have in the air? >> so many balls. a lot of great people that surround me and help me, whether it be at home, my partner, i have an amazing nanny that's been with me since my 21 year old son was two months old. she's like helped me through everything. she's been my i call her my real partner. she's been through all of it. that's awesome. >> i love hats off to caregivers. yeah. your costar, brenda song is also a working

mom. and i read that. she said you gave her advice as a working mom. >> she has a really little one. and when we were filming, it's that pull you get when you're working and you really want to be working, but you're, you know, you also want to be at home with your kids and you feel that guilt, like, i'm really having a great time doing this. does that mean i'm a bad mom? and i think women go through this all the time. and just to have friends to be able to talk it out with. >> i know that you recently put out music, which i love, and you were quoted as saying because you didn't do it before because you were insecure. how did you know? having a life adjacent to music through your three real life partners? >> yeah. >> change that and make you have the courage to be like, i'm going to sing now, right? >> oh, for. >> me, with music, it was so vulnerable. it's my it's my most, like, purest art. it's my writing. it's my music. it's my

heart. it's like you're, like, putting everything out there. and i think if i did that when i wasn't ready for that when i was younger, it would have destroyed me to get the amount of criticism that you do get when you enter into the public eye. and so i was terrified of it, and i just i hated it so much because i don't like being afraid of things. i fear fear makes me angry. but in covid, i it was one of those things where i was like, well, are we all going to go? i mean, we are all going to go, but like, is this it? and if this was it, am i, am i content with the creative, my creative output and what i put in the world? and the answer was no, because i felt like i wasn't really being the most honest version of myself. >> well, everyone should check out your music because it's really fabulous and it just shows you're at the top of your game in every way. >> that's so sweet. >> thanks so much for joining us. thank you for having me. >> our thanks to juju. running point is streaming now on
