where abc seven news has just obtained the chp report on the deadly tesla cybertruck crash that killed three college students the day before thanksgiving. good evening. thank you for joining us. i'm dan ashley. >> and i'm ama daetz. that report officially names the cause of the deadly crash as a combination of driving under the influence and unsafe speed. >> but it also paints a horrifying picture of the attempts to save the people trapped inside that burning truck. >> abc seven news reporter leslie brinkley has been poring over the report. joins us live now with the details. leslie. >> i've looked over this 18 page report just released by chp that details the tragic crash. uh- that and these details continue to emerge and paint a very disturbing picture. let's start off by taking a look at the photos of the three victims who died in the crash. a fourth survived their soren dixon, the driver who had a blood alcohol content of 0.19. there's krista

tsukahara and jack nelson. they all graduated from piedmont high school in 2023. they were in a cyber truck the day. the night before thanksgiving. that truck slamming into a tree and retaining wall. the toxicology report came out a few weeks ago showing that they all tested positive for alcohol, cocaine and marijuana. but now, the chp report adding more details to the context of the crash. as you mentioned, unsafe high rate of speed and driving under the influence. they were trying to negotiate a curve on hampton road in piedmont, and they were unable to because they were driving impaired, according to chp. two witnesses described a party of about eight people, college students, and they left that party to pick up a tesla at one of the friends homes. they made that stop for about five minutes, and two cars took off

from that home. the lead car was this tesla cybertruck. uh- crashed immediately, caught on fire. the second car of students caught up with them. and one of those witnesses ran over to the crash, ran over to the scene and tried to break into the right passenger window to save some of the occupants. they used a four foot tree branch to bust the window in. according to the chp report. this is the disturbing part. the witness says they could hear the girl inside the car yelling, and they could hear the car saying, crash detected. crash detected. the witness was able to get jordan miller, a passenger in the car, unbuckled, and was able to pull him out that broken window. he tried to reach out for the girl. krista tsukahara grabbed her arm as she leaned forward, but then the flames took over and he had to back away from the car. so

again, details still emerging about this crash. we are expecting a press release any minute now from piedmont police. kind of putting all this into context, reporting live outside piedmont police. i'm leslie brinkley, abc seven news. >> okay, leslie. thank you. a motorcycle driver has been killed in a hit and run that was on the bay bridge. all lanes are open again. the crash happened this afternoon just west of the toll plaza. now, the chp tells us a car hit a motorcycle which threw the rider from their bike. then a second car hit the rider and took off. the driver was declared dead on scene. the motorcycle driver. the police are looking for the suspect. who? that of that second vehicle that then took off. >> in the north bay. there is growing outrage and concern about the dangers of fentanyl. this comes after two santa rosa high school students overdosed on that synthetic manufactured drug. abc seven news reporter cornell barnard spoke

exclusively with the sonoma county district attorney about the case and her message to the public about the dangers of fentanyl. >> if i could shout from the rooftops about how dangerous fentanyl is and how dangerous it is to use other illicit drugs that could be laced with fentanyl, i would. >> sonoma county district attorney carla rodriguez is talking about the fentanyl epidemic, which has a firm grip on her county and the state. >> and it's basically like russian roulette right now for a child or a teenager or young adult, anyone to use a drug because you really don't know, you can't know what's inside that drug when you take it. >> last weekend, fentanyl poisoning, claiming the life of two santa rosa teens. 18 year old logan camper and 16 year old gia walsh. jia's mother sharing memories of her daughter this week. >> she had plans to travel the world and be a purveyor of good. >> to come out. arthur. >> police say the victims thought they were buying cocaine, but it was laced with fentanyl. a 21 year old suspect

arrested sunday for selling drugs to a minor. >> people that sell drugs are adding fentanyl to their drugs because they can have a cheaper, more effective product. >> d.a. rodriguez says overdose deaths are skyrocketing locally. last year, there were 110 fatal overdoses, 59 of the deaths related to fentanyl in 2023, 155 fatal ods, 95 fentanyl related. >> god, just please get the message. if it doesn't come from the pharmacist, don't touch it. >> this week, anti-drug advocates from micah's hug spoke to students at an elite high school in sebastopol, the nonprofit founded by micah sawyer in memory of his son, who died from fentanyl poisoning. >> you would prefer if, you know, young kids just didn't use or experiment at all. but that's not realistic. so, you know, if they are going to experiment and make sure they understand the risks of what they're getting into. >> micah wants narcan made widely available. the drug can reverse the effects of a

fentanyl overdose. the dea wants to see a countywide approach to fentanyl awareness and education. >> but if we want our kids to stay alive, i think we just need to be very clear about the dangers of fentanyl. >> in sonoma county. cornell, bernard. abc seven news. >> oakland police have recovered ten firearms and made seven arrests in a maserati carjacking and robbery case. three of the suspects are juveniles. a month long investigation found those arrested were involved in multiple violent crimes around the bay area. opd believes they're responsible for two homicides, shootings, robberies, burglaries and escape from a juvenile facility. one incident was as recent as this week. >> they did an extreme amount of prepping and planning, and when they committed the robbery, it was executed with extreme detail coordination. it was very obvious that this was not their first time committing a robbery of this type. >> looking at. >> one firearm was an assault

style pistol. officers also obtained a large amount of cash, ammunition and other criminal evidence. >> today in san francisco, mayor daniel lurie swore in a new police commissioner and appointed another. abc seven news reporter luz pena spoke with community advocates and business owners who are viewing this change as a positive step forward. >> more changes are coming to san francisco, this time focused on replacing some of the members of the city's police commission. the group that oversees the san francisco police department and the department of police accountability. >> a new era of collaboration in city hall. >> with the police chief behind him and multiple city supervisors. mayor lurie announced the appointment of mary scott, a longtime violence prevention advocate whose son was shot and killed in 1996. >> her voice on the police commission will help us strengthen public safety. >> scott has been recognized for her advocacy by california democrats like kamala harris and

nancy pelosi. scott still needs the board of supervisors vote, but is already making plans for the city. >> to get people healed. from fentanyl to help mothers that's grieving from the loss of a child or a loved one. to come together collectively. >> the police commission is known as the body that sets policy for the police department and conducts disciplinary hearings on charges of police misconduct. the president of the soma business association is viewing this change as a step towards better public safety. >> people are really fed up with the crime, the break-ins and stuff, and people are getting away with it. >> but not everyone agrees. after the recent controversial removal of another commissioner to bring in a new one. >> board appointments and city board members should not be political folks because, you know, there's a degree of loyalty that people will have once they are appointed by a particular person. >> the mayor also swore in a new
