4:48 pm
>> and good afternoon. blockbuster move by the 40 niners. deebo samuel, star e receiver being traded to washington for a fifth round draft pick. deebo has been such a big part of the niners offense, but he's approaching age 30. his production last year was way down. and the bottom line really is the bottom line. deebo is due almost $22 million next season. the niners don't want to pay him and brandon aiyuk a combined $50 million plus for two wide receivers. this deal for deebo to the commanders cannot be finalized until march 12th. all right we're counting down to the warriors and 76 ers in philadelphia here on abc seven. pregame is coming up in 13 minutes 5:00. tip off at 530. and this is cool. we get to bring in our old friend jason dumas who was on tv in the bay area for years. just moved recently to philly in time for the eagles to win the super bowl, which we're not talking about. but anyway, the dubs are totally different team before and after jimmy butler, but he's got a sore back. what's his status tonight. >> what do you think.
4:49 pm
>> hey larry it's nice to hear your voice. yeah jimmy butler won't play tonight i was at warriors shootaround this morning and i saw him. it looked like he had a heating pad strapped to his back. after he was getting up some shots. steve kerr was asked if he thinks that injury is going to be long term. and he said quote i hope not. so the hope for the warriors is that he will come back at some point during this road trip. but these sixers fans are upset that they couldn't see jimmy either. he still has a lot of fans here in ts city from his playing days here in philly. larry. >> so you don't have jimmy butler. it would be really nice to have jonathan kuminga back. he's been out since january 4th with the dreaded high ankle sprain. what's his situation? >> he will not play tonight. and it sounds like he also won't play in charlotte on monday. i saw him as well as shootaround. wasn't in the best mood. you can tell he's just ready to get out there. he was getting up shots. he was scrimmaging a little bit with the warriors coaching staff. and you know just trying
4:50 pm
to break a sweat. but it's a good thing that the warriors are playing so well without him. they're rolling right now. so when he's ready to get on the court he's going to join a well-oiled machine. >> yeah they need him back for the stretch run for sure. uh- your sixers are a mess. no joel embiid for the rest of the season because of a bad knee. philly fans are always kind and warm up to their stars even when things go bad, right. how really how are people reacting to your revealing sixers? >> well, i have to say, it was really good for the sixers that the eagles took away this fan bases attention until about mid february. they took some of the heat off the sixers because they do not have a lot of happy fans right now. larry their last game, it cost only four bucks to get in the building. the fans have kind of checked out. and it's kind of unfortunate because joel can't control a lot of what's going on with his body, but it's just a frustrating
4:51 pm
situation for the organization, the player, and of course, that friendly philly fan base. >> yes, $4 for a ticket. are you serious? >> yeah, yeah. don't have to break the bank. you can come in here and watch an nba game and it'll be relatively cheap. but with steph curry here, as you can kind of see behind me i mean warriors jerseys everywhere. you guys know steph curry. he's like the rolling stones fans come out in droves to see him. so i expect there to be a lot more warriors fans than sixers fans in the building tonight. >> all right jason great to see you. and we'll have you on the postgame show with all the interviews as well. so the sixers and warriors coming up uh- tip off is at 530. you know, $4 a seat. i could invite 100 friends if i had0 friends. which which i'm a little shy. >> let's be real. we'll never get to $4 tickets here in the bay. >> not the maybe post steph curry, but not not currently. >> thanks so much. all right. we're getting excited for the

97th oscars happening tomorrow on abc seven. final preparations are underway. the academy announced performances by wicked stars cynthia erivo and ariana grande, and we can expect some surprises. the oscars red carpet may be the most well known runway in the world. celebrities and stylists carefully plan each look in hopes of avoiding the worst dressed list. abc seven news anchor amanda delcastillo is live in hollywood with our focus on fashion today. and amanda, you just look lovely along that red carpet this this afternoon. yes, yes. take a bow. >> thank you, thank you, i try, j.r, i try, but let me tell you, come sunday, the red carpet is the show before the show. essentially a 900 foot long runway, if you can imagine, with people taking pictures of you every angle. so you want to look good. and while i technically won't be walking the red carpet on sunday, i want to look good.
4:53 pm
who are you wearing? well, the quintessential red carpet question may be a thing of the past. for me, it is mission critical. >> something that says, whoa, look at that dress. something that really is dramatic. long. >> meet jocelyn delcastillo. >> my mother. >> the fiercest fashion critic i know. >> i like the purple one. that one's nice. the first one that you tried. >> it's a gown i've worn only once before. but why was i so hesitant to consider it for oscars coverage? >> i loved my outfit today. then a moment. >> of inspiration. all thanks to abc news meteorologist ginger zee. she recently posted about her long time hair stylist getting creative in ginger's own closet. >> she said, let me just go through and put together some outfits. she picked stuff. new i and it's just a friend. >> so i thought, why not give it a shot? i rolled out the red carpet. okay. on a much smaller
4:54 pm
scale. i gathered my gowns, checked rental sites, and even borrowed some blinged out pieces from others. i ended up with dozens of options for the oscars. >> and sometimes we can look at our own clothes and not see something right? just like we can look at ourselves and not see something. >> for two and a half years now, ginger has committed to a life of no new clothes. it comes from a challenge put out there by the group remake, encouraging people to consider how they can help reduce overconsumption in the fashion industry. so i put it to practice turning to pre-loved secondhand and in many cases, special dresses. >> why not? why not wear clothes more than once? >> the marketing to us is you do need something brand new for friday night, because that's where the value of that night with your friends out is. no it's not. it actually doesn't matter what i'm wearing, because the time spent is the part that's valuable. >> time spent. and for clothing and the academy awards, time's worn. >> that is something to be proud
4:55 pm
of. that is something to post up and be like, yep, i wear this all the time. >> and on that same note, the last time i wore this dress was christmas, and before that, my mom wore it for her prom. before that, my grandmother for special occasions, and my great grandmother actually made it. so, keeping it within the family, especially, i mean, especially for this special occasion. and i have some special news for you coming up at 11, i will take you on a celebrity pov of the red carpet. you don't want to miss that. you also don't want to miss tomorrow's broadcast because i will reveal what gown i chose. but again, that's all on oscars sunday. reporting live from hollywood amanda delcastillo, abc seven news. >> amanda, i was just going to ask you. they said the average price around a million and a half. so i figured your dress was worth a million. the gloves were half a million somewhere in that neighborhood. sponsored, of course. >> yeah. priceless.
