officers have been fired after new evidence released by the martinez police department shows potential misconduct. here's abc seven news reporter anser hassan. >> who's going uh- westbound. >> the newly released video shows possible police misconduct and a fatal officer involved shooting that left one man dead, such as this scene. as the two men tried to drive away. >> officers fired into the car as the cars. as the car was driving away from the police officers and was not posing a danger to anyone. >> adante pointer is a lawyer for the wilson family. in august of 2023, tahman and tommy wilson were shot at by martinez police, who were responding to a burglary at a cannabis dispensary. tahman died on scene. >> one officer, you know, came to the scene and was abusing these gunshot victims, despite the fact that they were handcuffed, despite the fact they were compliant, despite the fact they were in need of

medical aid and treatment and care, and officers decided to exact what i call street justice. >> newly released documents by the police department described how officer johnny aroney kneed tommy several times in the head, while he was already handcuffed, and how the three responding officers tried to hide a knife that one of the officers was illegally carrying. all three officers were fired. two were in their probationary period. >> not only should they be fired, they should be walking into a criminal courtroom dealing with criminal charges and prosecution. >> in a statement, martinez mayor brian zorn thanked the police chief and city manager for, quote, conducting the administrative investigations in a fair and effective manner and taking immediate action where required. martinez police chief andrew white referred to the officer's behavior as disappointing, adding, quote, as a department, we are committed to maintaining the highest standards of professional conduct. >> that type of gratuitous force cannot be tolerated, and the chief did the right thing by

holding those officers accountable. >> the investigation into the officer's use of deadly force is still ongoing in martinez anser hassan abc seven news. >> developing news now from san francisco's outer sunset neighborhood, police shot an armed man who is now in the hospital. officers were called to a home on 41st avenue between lincoln and irving after a report of a man with a gun threatening his neighbors. police say at some point, that man opened fire, and a responding officer then returned fire. the man's injuries are described as non life threatening. no officers were hurt. police are calling this an isolated incident with no threat to the public. there was a brief scare tonight over at chase center during the warriors game. the fire alarm went off at the end of the first quarter. >> i guess we got a new story because these guys might bery working. >> you can see there that message posted on the scoreboard asked people to leave their

seats, and some of the fans started filing out. a few minutes later, it was announced it was a false alarm, and people then made their way back to their seats. the owners of a longtime business in the south bay are asking for help after a recent burglary. they sent us these photos of the damage left behind after a break-in this week at san jose. camera and video gates, doors and windows were all destroyed when a vehicle drove through the front door. an employee who didn't want to go on camera told us burglaries at the store aren't new, and they are getting to be more brazen. >> we've had great gains. we've actually had people break into the back. we've have a taken a lot of steps into keeping it secured so they can't break into the back anymore. but now they've gone through the front. >> the owners say new and used camera gear was stolen. they say insurance will cover some of the cost but won't replace everything. a raucous meeting was held in the south bay to

discuss the fate of san jose's saratoga avenue. community members packed a town hall session today to discuss controversial changes to reduce the number of crashes included in those proposals. cutting back on the number of driving lanes, a new protected bike lane and pedestrian safety improvements. that corridor underwent a major transformation, all as part of san jose's vision zero initiative to improve roadway safety. but those changes have received mixed reviews. >> i'm also a bicyclist. i'm also a pedestrian. roads are for people, is not for cars. >> there's no safety, no health issue. let the competent people to do the job. >> this is not about safety. this is about a money grab. the state gave san jose $10 million for vision zero, and they're in a use it or lose it attitude. >> today's town hall comments will be used by san jose's transportation department to

determine changes, if any need to be made. all right, turning to the weather now. and certainly it was spring like out there today. spencer christian joins us now with your 24 hour accuweather forecast. spencer. >> how long will this last? >> it's going to last for a while, diane. on this night of one hours lost sleep. we have at least clear skies to look forward to tomorrow. so here's your 24 hour day planner. starting at 7:00 tomorrow morning, we'll have mainly clear skies, temperatures in the 40s. it's going to be a little bit cool overnight, but not cold. by noon. we'll see bright sunny skies 60 degrees inland and around the bay. mid 50s on the coast by 4 p.m. we're talking about upper 60s to near 70 inland under sunny skies, mid to upper 60s around the bay shoreline. only mid 50s on the coast. and then at 7 p.m. the sun will still be up because we get that daylight on the first day of daylight saving time. it will be about 60 degrees near the bay and inland and about 52 inland. uh- 52 on the coast. i beg your pardon. i'll have the complete accuweather seven

who was the oldest living major league baseball player, died at the age of 100. he had been living at an assisted living facility in sonoma. we caught up

with him last year as he celebrated hitting the century mark. shalleck was born in mill valley and he signed with the dodgers back in 1947. the yankees needed a left handed pitcher and traded him for him in 1951. that trade resulted in the legendary mickey mantle being sent back down to the minor leagues. shalleck went on to collect three world series rings during his time with the yankees. 100 newly planted trees are taking root in the heart of san francisco tonight. volunteers joined the city's public works department for a tree planting blitz to celebrate arbor day. new trees were planted in the tenderloin south of market and western addition neighborhoods in sore need of some extra greenery. >> trees clean the air. they sequester carbon. they provide oxygen. they are beautiful. they are healing. they help kids learn. they are workhorses. and arbor day is the day that we get

to celebrate them. >> yeah, so many benefits. the public also got to take part in a community fair to learn all about how trees improve our lives. as part of the city's arbor day celebration. well, check this out. hundreds of robotics students are showing off their creations this weekend at uc berkeley. the university's college of engineering is hosting the one world vex robotics showcase, and it's what organizers call competitive robotics, a chance for grade school students to show what their customized robots can do. the event is put on by the robot labs foundation, an organization that teaches k through 12 students across the bay area. robotics and stem. well, on sunday, a brand new season of american idol officially gets underway. it is, believe it or not, the 23rd season for the competition show, but the first time fans will see a beloved idol taking a seat on the judges panel. and auditions swung through new york city this time,

>> why not? the night is young. >> yeah, well, we we're going to lose an hour of sleep tonight, so. >> yeah. yeah. >> there is that. here's a look at the satellite radar image. you can see that high pressure is the controlling factor in our weather right now. bringing us clear skies, mainly. and fair weather. it's quite spring like it was today. and it will be again for the next few days before the pattern shifts and the wind is calm. just about everywhere. the strongest wind speed we have is about five miles per hour, and it's a couple of degrees warmer than this time last night over most of the bay area. not not all locations. so let's take a live view from sutro tower looking out over san francisco where it's 49 degrees right now, 47 in hayward and in redwood city, we have 50 at oakland, 39 at half moon bay. that's pretty chilly. that's got to be wrong. and 52 at san jose. on we go to the live view from mount tam, looking down into parts of the city and the bay. 42 degrees in santa rosa right now. petaluma has not reported yet at this hour. 47 at napa, 43, fairfield, livermore 46 and 50 at concord. and these are our forecast headlines. daylight saving time begins

overnight. so spring forward one hour on your clocks. we have a sensational day coming our way tomorrow with sunny and springlike warmth and midweek storms will develop, so the rainy pattern will return by wednesday or so. and it may last a while. but let's talk about the clear skies first. looking overnight, we'll see some clouds offshore, maybe some spotty drizzle. a few of those clouds may work their way on land onshore, but it's going to be a mainly clear night overnight and with low temperatures, mainly in the low to mid 40s around the bay shoreline, it will be chillier in many of our inland valleys. the inland east bay will see lows in the upper 30s 39 at concord and livermore. up in the north bay. santa rosa, a low of 37. and down in the south bay we'll see low 40s. san jose, 42 and 40 at morgan hill. highs tomorrow under sunny skies. 57 at half moon bay, 62 here in the city. around the bay shoreline. between 65 and about 68 degrees down to fremont in the south. bay six 69in san jose, the inland east bay. upper 60s 67 to 68 degrees. and up in the north bay we'll see mainly mid 60s napa 64 and

the news starts right now. >> president trump is threatening steep reciprocal tariffs on canadian lumber and dairy products beginning as early as next week. meanwhile, u.s. customers are also facing the looming threat of a government shutdown. abc's johny fernandez has the latest on both conflicts. >> american businesses are bracing for the latest tariff threat from the white house. president trump vowing to impose new tariffs on canadian lumber and dairy in response to the large tax canada puts on american dairy and lumber to

protect its own industries 250%. >> nobody ever talks about that 250% tariff, which is taking advantage of our farmers. they make it impossible for us to sell lumber or dairy products into canada. >> the national association of home builders say even a 25% tariff on canadian lumber would increase the cost of building a new single family home by up to $10,000. that comes after the president imposed 25% tariffs on all goods from canada and mexico that went into effect on march 4th. the president then changed direction, offering a one month exemption for auto makers on wednesday, followed by a one month delay on tariffs for other goods from mexico and canada on thursday. wall street reacting to the uncertainty. stocks finished the week in the red. the dow down nearly 1200 points since monday's open. the s&p having its worst week since september. but the president saying the uncertainty is here to stay. >> there will always be changes

and adjustments. there will always be some modifications. i mean, if you have a wall in front of you, sometimes you have to go around the wall instead of through it. >> all this as a possible government shutdown looms. house gop leaders unveiling their stopgap funding bill on saturday that will fund the government through the end of september. but it will be a challenge to get the bill through both chambers before the march 14th deadline. democrats are not on board, which means house speaker mike johnson will need near unanimous support. president trump urging all republicans in congress to vote yes, writing on his truth social site we must remain united. johny fernandez, abc news, new york. >> take a look at this. a wild scene at a carmax dealership in inglewood. an irate customer rammed through the front doors of the showroom, hitting at least eight people. two of those people suffered critical injuries. the driver then kept driving while inside the showroom, just running over chairs and desks. the chaos happened after the customer was

getting his car appraised. that driver was later arrested by police. well, these days the word streamlining seems to be the n word at city hall. as you may have heard, san francisco mayor daniel lurie wants to make it easier for small businesses to go through the permitting process. abc seven news. building a better bay area reporter lyanne melendez tells us what that may look like. >> on the day of his inauguration, mayor daniel lurie mentioned several changes coming to san francisco, including this one. >> the era of a new restaurant going through 40 inspections and receiving 50 different answers is over. >> i lost almost my identity who i am. i'm an author. what? how are you? how am i going to get out of here? >> if anyone had a reason to complain about government bureaucracy, it's jose castillo, owner of cielito lindo taqueria.

there was nothing lindo or pretty about the restaurant's permitting process, which took nearly four years and thousands of dollars in fees while trying to meet the required building and planning codes. >> they put obstacles or another obstacle, so make your life impossible. >> when it came to upgrading the electrical system, he was forced to add two meters, one for his business and another for the entire building. so once you have this in place, right, which cost you a fortune, they asked you to build this wall as well. >> exactly. so i had to do a new modification. >> and each time he had to modify the plans, it cost him more money. all along he continued to pay for rent while he was still closed. mayor lurie wants residents and business owners to navigate the permitting process more easily by having most of it accessible online. katy tang of the office of small business is part of the permit sf reform team.

>> we want to be able to have that kind of a process for anyone who's applying for any type of permit to be able to see that journey, the status and also have timelines. >> but this is another reason why the process is so complicated. this is the planning code. three binders with 2500 pages. these are layers and layers and layers of codes added through the years, mainly by san francisco supervisors. so let's take someone currently going through the permitting process just to get a license to serve wine at the store, where bottles of wine are already sold. how could that be complicated? >> it's not a nuclear waste site, it's a wine bar. so we're thinking about subdividing, about right here, moving the retail items towards the front of the store, maybe moving some of the wine back here. and what you see is being occupied by various things would basically become a little bistro. >> bastian schell owns the

spanish table. he thought it would be an easy process because of proposition h, which is meant to streamline the approval process for small business permits, some taking only 30 days. >> we went through a permitting application process with the city, thinking we could get it done quickly, and then and then sort of hit this wall of like, this is going to take six months and i can't figure out all these forms. i think we're going to have to hire somebody. >> right off the bat. he was met with 11 steps just to apply for a conditional use permit, including providing architectural plans, submitting the plans, reviewing the plans and a public hearing where anyone can weigh in. then there are these next steps. he already has a type 20 license to sell wines at the store, but to serve a glass of wine with, let's say, a little bit of cheese on the side, he needs a type 42 license mandated by the state. but wait, there's more. >> when that conditional use permit is granted, the issuance

of the alcohol license then is subject to board of supervisory approval and mayoral sign off. like, get that for a minute. >> it's been six months already, and scholl has decided to hire a consultant who knows the permitting process inside and out. how much is that going to cost you to hire that consultant? >> i think it'll cost us between the consultant and an architect, it's probably going to be somewhere close to $10,000. >> meanwhile, remember castillo, the owner of cielito lindo? he's still paying off his debt. but now that he has a business to run, castillo admits he's a much happier man. >> i did it, so that's what i felt, you know, at that time. i said to the city, you know, i did it no matter what. see. >> in san francisco. >> that's my favorite. >> leon melendez, abc seven news. >> still to come tonight on abc

their paradise on hulu has fans buzzing, especially after that wild season finale. the cast was on hand for a special screening of the show in hollywood. paradise stars sterling k brown, james marsden, julianne nicholson, kris marshall and sarah shahi. season one ended with some answers, but also has fans asking lots more questions. it was just renewed by hulu. brown, who's also an executive producer with dan fogelman, says fans will be shocked by what's

coming. >> i've read the first three episodes of season two. they slap. they slap real hard. it is what you expect in terms ofit is like, what's happening on the outside, but the way in which we tell the story is always going to be slightly unexpected, because that's just what dan does. but it's so good. like it's so good. like i get like as a as a fan of the show, as a fan of tv, like i read it and i start doing like a little dance, like i do a little dance because i'm like, oh, they don't know what they're about to get, but what they about to get is going to be something dope, baby, it's going to be hot. it's great. it's great. >> wow, that enthusiasm makes me want to watch. season two is set to begin filming soon. you can stream season one now on hulu. disney is the parent company of hulu and abc seven. well, over in the east bay, the oakland ballers held open tryouts today at raimondi park in oakland.

about 50 players were vying for an invitation to spring training, but they weren't the only ones. interim mayor kevin jenkins joined council members rowena brown and ken houston in taking some swings in the cage. maybe unsurprisingly, they will not be suiting up for the team. >> things went wonderful, coach said. i made the team not because of my talent, but what i can do for them. maybe extra calls from the umpires and everything. but no. it was a wonderful time out. >> having the ballers being rooted here in the community, that's what matters. and so what we're doing is helping to bring oakland really together. and this is this is a great this is a great thing for the city. >> we're giving spirit to the city of oakland, right. we're back. we're back. the a's are gone. but the ballers are here. >> we back the ballers. regular season starts on may 20th. it's nice to see everyone out there. do you think you could have made the team? >> i was going to go just as a goof. just because i played baseball in my youth.

i'm not happy with the way that pg&e handled the wildfires. yeah. yeah. i totally, totally understand. we're adding a ton of sensors. as soon as something comes in contact with the power line, it'll turn off so that there's not a risk that it's gonna fall to the ground and start a fire. okay. and i want you to be able to feel the improvements. we've been able to reduce wildfire risk from our equipment by over 90%. that's something i want to believe. >> so the warriors keep the good times rolling. coming off the road trip, you never know what you're going to get in that first home game. and what we got was 32 points from steph curry. wasn't super efficient shooting the ball. but after watching what steph did on this road trip, i mean nothing should be surprising. three quarter court. half court whatever. threes and ones. i mean he's he's doing it all. and coming up on his 37th birthday. >> steph is living the best life ever man. he's having so much fun out there. you can see the joy coming back in the way he is approaching this game. he's having fun again. you know he's like his number two in jimmy. and i think what jimmy brings is kind of kind of rejuvenated steph. so i'm really excited to see you know what steph is going to pull out as we head to the playoffs. >> you mentioned jimmy. and one of the things that i think you can really see on the court is steph was laboring a lot in the first half of the season because obviously he had to carry the entire load. i mean, if he didn't do something spectacular every night, they lose the game.

now with jimmy much more relaxed and letting the game come to him more because he knows i don't have to do it all. i got jimmy buckets. >> exactly. and i think you can see coach kerr is understanding that when steph goes to the bench he you know, he makes sure he gets every ounce of time that he can get from steph being on the bench. because now he knows that with jimmy on the court those minutes are not you know as kind of disproportionate as it once was. so i think it's a really good situation that the team is into. i think steph is feeling good. jimmy is finding his own and we're still awaiting the return of jonathan kuminga, which i can't wait for. larry. >> that's a great point. butler by the way, 26 points nine rebounds jc he's about two months with the dreaded high ankle sprain. how long do you think it will take at some point during this homestand, he's going to be back on the court and playing to get into real game shape. >> unfortunately, larry is going to take a little bit of time because the ankle, you know, it's very suspect because, you know, one minute you will feel better
