announcement. >> to announce a very significant kid that will make a tremendous here both here at the university and also in the community that we serve. >> the valley foundation will be giving a $5 million gift to the school of nursing. this is the largest gift the school has ever received and to show its gratify tuesday they have requested to change the valley foundation school of nursing. director to this school says she couldn't be more grateful for this gift and the support valley foundation has giver over the past several years. >> it was such an exciting moment in my life, to think that the valley foundation would honor a potential large gift. >> to mimic hospital like settings, dr. colleen kelly is the valley foundation in down chair and professor in the school. serving this gift will allow the school tex and on its hands on program and better educate

it comes in the mist of major fund-raiser. they found the state university's history is launching a public appeal targeting corporations, foundation. it's used to raise more than $100 million. it's called $200 million by 2014. >> this acceleration is about the future. we are not content with what is but rather striving for what can be. campaign will raise money for all 7 colleges. the university library, student affairs and athletics. often college students think of themselves as invention i believe, they go out on dates and hang out with friends. one in four women and one in 14 men are expected to be physically asauled by a physical partner sometime in their life.

ashley. partner violence can take many forms. violence can turn deadly if the victim does not get help. intimate partner violence can be scary and serious. is a mother of 4-year-old son and 3 month old daughter. she was in a relationship six years ago that showed no signs of abuse. they met through the friendliest of circumstances. >> he was visiting his parents and they had lived next door to us as at the time. we were really good friends with our neighbors. so when he came over to visit, they just introduced us. >> then one night the relationship took a turn for the worst. her exboyfriend showed up and was found her outraged with -- he was drunk, he started think -- i don't know what he started thinking. but he started thinking me and

her were messing around, off the wall crazy things. she said she tried to calm him down but he slapped her and she asked them to leave. he shoved her and he pushed her, punched her in her face. she fell downstairs and he kicked her in her stomach. it's the kind of story na she hears all too often. she's the cochair of kaiser perm thenties -- this hospital has donated this fountain. she also put a sign which is a testimonial for all those who have survived abuse. >> domestic violence affects everyone. and it is something that they wanted to create to be able to show that it affects your colleagues and that people do in fact get out of abusive relationships. >> as their doctor how do you cochair domestic violence

we should get better from playing them and learning from the mistake. it's better that we play tough teams than before we do to our conference and hopefully it will help us do better. >> has this tough schedule affected your out look for the rest of the season? >> no, not at all. it doesn't affect feat all. -- affect me at all. i try to stay positive. that's the only way i can come out practice. if i'm negative, then i condition. >> what do you plan to do in your future after football season. >> i plan to try out for the -- hopefully try out for the nfl. if nothing works out on that fall become on my degree and become a teacher or a coach. the men's teem took to the basketball giving them a chance to play simulated game after
