forward. the candidates forum kicked off monday with president of csu east bay. he's been there five years worked at csu north ridge and before that administration. >> also being in three position encompasses having good knowledge of csu over all. >> reporter: he says his ties are strong since he serves on many locally advisory boards and his family lives here. >> think i might be the no. 1 president. i won't call everybody their first names. >> he wishes to apply his experience here now. >> because i wanted to make a difference in terms of a university, in terms of what we can offer, how can we move the university forward. >> a fresh set of eyes are what the presidency need and what they can supply. >> this is the first presidency

cross individuals are taking up the cause on their own. >> and then the grads some might have some money from -- some money from people. >> the earthquake hit close to home. >> it's close to the point it's center and my family is there close to the city. >> reporter: if you students who are supposed to study abroad in japan won't be making the trip. the chancellor charles reed is pulling the pull on all 22 study abroad programs in japan. they have six students who was scheduled to study, three of which are currently in asia and the other three are still in the united states. >> if there's any sense of

danger we tend to air on the caution side. there was real fear in the continuing affects and after shocks and potential dangers from the reactors. >> the three students currently have been asked to return to the united states with the hell f of their sponsors. -- with the help of their sponsors. hundreds of thousands are evacuating cities within 12 miles of the plant in fear of radiation. these students had to leave. they put so much effort into it and now they kind of loss -- not only have they lost an experience, they lost an entire semester of school. >> i can imagine, e studied abroad in pain two years ago, i know -- it's just something that really bad luck. >> what's also unfortunate, they have money that they put into it and they're getting their tuition back but they're not getting their flight back, so they're coming out of

pocket, they're losing municipal, time and -- losing money, time, and experience. the tragedy in japan is a reminder to many people that we also live on fault lines there's no way to truly predict an earthquake. >> japan's recent natural disaster reminds many residents of our last major earthquake. >> as soon as i realized i did get down under my table because things were starting to fall from the ceiling. >> it rocked the bay area in 1989. there's a 67% chance another one will hit sometime in the next 30 years. geology professor is the one that can have affect for us here on campus. >> that's because of this -- we're at the peak of probability of the return of an earthquake. >> even though a tremor cannot be pinpointed exactly, everyone should be prepared for one.

at the beginning i'm going to go concert. atlanta the end of the weekend, i'm going to go to wonder con. >> probably going to look for a job. >> for spring break i'm going to be saving the world with grow peas. >> i'm going to go snow boarding with friends and mostly working in san jose. that last week i'm trying to plan a trip. right now working with two organizations on campus, so one of them i'm going to be planning the rest of the semester schedule. >> we're actually going down san diego. >> i'm not sure yet. i didn't know it was in 2 weeks. >> i'm not sure yet, but i wish i would be there in disneyland or in new york city. >> students have many stresses to deal with, including paying

for college. students pay fir their the -- pay for their tuition in a variety ways. one of the most popular ways is to take a student loan. however as tracy reports this can cause a lot of additional stress. >> megan graduated from a southern california college with a degree in visual arts. even though she happy she got the degree. she's worried about the loan she has to pay off. >> and the fact being able to support myself on my own, i don't have to worry about that chunk of chain and i have to pay my uncle $200 a month, so it kind of hungers my income and -- hinders my income and what i can do with it. >> it scares the crap out of me really badly. i'm going to be like maybe 15,

forward to every day. every week, and a few big things every year. >> just because students have a lot to do doesn't mean they should negative sleeping, eating or relaxing. the experts have tips to offer on how to handle the day the day stresses we all face. on campus, tracy update news. >> we introduced to where students make teams to compete in a ten week challenge to get feet. here we decided to take it to the next level. our very own team consisted of tracy, the and aaron as well as our news director. our first assignment climb -- well not exactly. but at least work out equivalent to it. first 30 minutes on the elliptical, this is comparable to climbing 200 feet. next members must run for 30 minutes this is equivalent to 500 feet up the mountain.

to be a journalist, you don't have to be in my sight to do it. spartan daily is stirring up the news -- the app allows students to participate. the assignments are posted and students can accept the task and up load pictures directly to the app. if you see breaking news or something interesting happening on campus posted on the news flash section where others can post their comments the app was created news worthy events and those who post pictures. it helps to daily report what's happening now on campus and what's important to students. the oxford english dictionary is considered -- covering meaning, history and the pronunciation of more than half a million word spoken in america and abroad. each year new words are approved -- this year many technology oriented words made it in slain.

english professor bonny cox says that english has ways of new words into lexicon. >> the english language is probably the most democratic. we're like the statute of liberty of languages. we say okay words, there other countries and other languages, come on in, we'll use you. >> the complete 20 volume set of the english oxford dictionary can be yours for $1,000. now for my reviews of the two big box office winners this weekend. the adjustment hero follows david morse a young politician who meets a girl and immediately falls in love. however, he was not supposed to. angel adjustment hero telling it's not his david super defiant does everything in its power to meet with the love of his life. this movie was not what i expected it to be. it was a slow pace love story

with only ten minutes of any kind of action. the writing left to be desired it made sure under no uncertain terms that the adjustment bureau is made up of angels. the only way i would have liked this movie is morgan freeman played god. mango is on the other hand, he is searching for his purpose in life. ran grow stumbled across an old western town called dirt and immediately becomes sheriff. i've dot -- i've got to say, it's fantastic. it's rated pg, not meant for small children. it has violent huge humor and one two sex -- a child is given a gun to play with and he proceeds to point it in his eyes. wrangle is a must see but leave your little brother or sister at home unless you want to explain to them what an enlarged prostate is. >> i think that a lot of the
