developing news, violence breaks out at and near candlestick park. fights in the stands and gun fire in the street. >> we begin with that developing news, the battle of the bay between the 49ers and raiders has taken a violent turn off the field tonight. the fight broke out earlier this evening in the stands. police are saying that one of

the men was knocked unconscious. also we're getting word that two men have been shot outside the stadium in the parking lot. one of the men was taken to the hospital with life threatening injuries. we have the crew at the scene collecting information. meantime another child has become the victim of gun violence in oakland. we're at children's hospital where the victim is a two year old who survived. >> survived after a bullet passed through his upper arm. he is recovering here while police pursue conflicting accounts of what happened. >> reporter: when these two women brought a wounded toddler to a hospital it triggered a who done it. they believed the little boy had been shot sitting in a parked car but no one in nearby homes or businesses heard gun fire. >> we should have. nobody heard anything. >> reporter: and no trace of a

shooting. >> at this point we haven't located any residents that actually heard any gunshots or anything. >> it occurred in the street. >> reporter: they were also told he was hit by a stray bullet just a few blocks from where a 3 year old boy was shot and killed earlier this month. today's story seems similar. >> subjects were walking and the child was shot. >> just walking down the street. >> yes, ma'am. >> reporter: but people who work at the location gave us and police the same denials. no one saw anything unusual. the toddler's relatives were quizzed repeatedly. >> my little cousin, but he's okay. he's okay. >> the child is your cousin. >> yeah. >> he was walking with who. >> with us but he's okay now. >> there's a lot of questions that need to be answered. >> reporter: as police sift through the stories, one sad

fact emerges, another child is suffering from gun violence. >> very unfortunate that the kid is on the other end. >> reporter: i just checked and still no clear chronology or suspect. briefly today they thought a bullet riddled car they pulled over might be linked but neither the driver or his weapon appear connected to this wounded child expected to recover. fire officials are looking into what caused a grass fire. we want to know you new video of that fire. it started just before 5:00 this evening. flames sent a lot of smoke into the air that people saw and smelled from miles away. several crews including three air tankers were called in to access the hard to reach fire. >> they had to hike into the fire. it was well off the road, well off any type of fire road, about 2500 feet to get to the

fire. >> it burned about 4 acres before it was contained. no one was hurt and no truck structures were threatened. a group of activisted gathered this afternoon. they're calling for a review board to oversee the police force. she was shot to death by police when he suffered a mental break down on june 12th, 2001. his wrongful death settlement required a 40 hour training course for police. they have identified a woman killed in an accident. she was on a crosswalk at 18th. the coroner announced she was 23 year old emily dunn of san francisco. they're testing the bus driver for drugs but there's no evidence he was speeding or under the influence. they're also looking for a

hit-and-run driver that truck a 5 year old boy. the little boy was crossing silver avenue ahead of a family member when she was struck around 11:30 this morning. the boys injuries are not life threatening. officers are looking for a dark green 1980s hatch back with a missing mirror. the driver appeared to be a latino man. >> police are investigating a fatal hit-and-run that happened this morning. he was hit by a white pick up truck around 1:00 a.m. he died at the scene. a couple of blocks away a white pick up truck was set on fire. police tell us they're working to confirm whether it's the same vehicle involved in the hit-and-run. the victim's identity is not being released until his family is notified. >> two uc berkeley graduates have been sentenced to 8 years in prison.

they were charged for allegedly entering iran. we explain what might come next for the two americans. >> this is shane and josh, in february before the judge sentenced them to 8 years in prison for entering iran ill illegally. >> we spoke with a journalist here here today. he said he helped the hikers obtain their attorney in iran. >> i think he said that it shows the political nature of the case. >> they contend they were hiking in iraq when they were taken into custody by iran forces for crossing the border. she spoke out during the two men's trial. >> i would ask the iran authorities to show them the

same compassion they showed me. >> their trail ended weeks ago, a trial she contends was influenced by iran intelligence. >> he is famous for doing what the intelligence asks him to do. >> they have 20 days to appeal the sentence. attempts to contact the bay area group that supports the hikers went unanswered today. they often remain quite when the fate of the hikers remains uncertain. that's true with the appeal pending. today bart said it did not violate free speech rights when it cut cell phone service at several stations last week. we brought you live imagines of the protest that shut down the system on july 11th. b.a.r.t. learned that they planned to

use text messages to coordinate a similar demonstration. they said barts temporary interruption of cell phone service did not effect by first amendment rights of any persons to protest in the lawful manner. another protest is planned for money. >> in libya rebel leaders say the end is year for gadhafi's regime. this marked the first time since the uprising began in february that rebels threatened the strong hold. this evening came word that rebels are celebrating after pushing government forces out. we found this report just before the celebrations began. >> reporter: on this day, even if you couldn't see the fire fight close up, you could hear it's deafening sounds from the

including the children even though missiles are falling around their home. >> a person feels unsafe and can't risk because of the rockets. they hit us every night but we are resisting staying in our homes but we do feel fear, especially for the children. >> she and the rebel fighters are convinced the end of the gadhafi regime is near but trying to take control will be a fight. police arrested at least 60 environmental protestors today outside the white house. protestors are trying to block a possible u.s. acanadian pipeline. they say the 1700-mile pipeline will cost water resources vulnerable to spills and the oil will emit green house gases.

economic agony, turmoil in the markets means insecurity and employers won't hire if they're not confident. >> now back to that developing news, the violence that broke out following the preseason game between the 49ers and the raiders. violence off the field including a fight in the stands and a shooting in the parking lot of the park. live from the scene with the latest on the violence that followed the game. >> as you mentioned, police are dealing with a number of different incidents out here. we can tell you we have confirmed that two men were shot outside the park here off of jamestown avenue. with he know it happened by this gate. we also have video. we know one of those men that was shot, a 24 year old suffered life threatening injuries in that shooting. the second victim was not hurt as seriously. both were rushed to a local hospital. we don't know if either of them

were actually at the game tonight and like you mentioned, we can move to some other video we have, there was more trouble inside candlestick park tonight. one of our photographers captured this video of a nasty fight as it was happening. with he saw one man who appeared to be fairly badly hurt in all this. we talked to police about it and then they confirmed that somebody else was beaten unconscious inside a bathroom at the park during the big 49ers raiders game. that happened around 7:20. we can tell you police are certainly still trying to gather information, look for witnesses and certainly violence outside of sporting events is more in the spotlight than it has ever been with the beating of bryan stow down in los angeles this year. we don't know if these two shooting victims were at the preseason game. we got an officer who pulled up moments ago. we'll be talking to him as soon

a really big drop off in temperatures today. only most spots only in the mid to upper 70s this afternoon. right now the map is doing it again as you can see on our mapping system, our live storm tracker, santa rosa reporting cloud cover. right around the central portions of the bay, san francisco and oakland and hayward, the low clouds are already regrouping and will push back inland for tonight. so we have been talking a lot about the fog. that's been the one constant for the coastline. temperatures on the cool side so fog will be on the increase and once again spotty drizzle. could be measurable rain fall first thing tomorrow morning or trace amounts. overnight lowes tomorrow

morning most areas starting out in the low to mid 50s. hayward at 56 and morgan hill 53 degrees. this has been the story for today and pretty much for tomorrow. this is deepening the marine layer. start out with the clouds tomorrow morning. not much of a change in temperatures. here's the next change, though. it will bring that warmer air into the region. so the warmest is monday approaching the 90 degree mark. we could have a few low 90s well inland. but this will translate into a warm up across the bay area. i've been watching the tropical depression greg, this was a tropical storm earlier today. it will continue to weaken but we have to keep an eye on this. the moisture could move up to the north at least in the form of high clouds by tuesday and wednesday and there is a slight chance of an isolated thunderstorm. not in the forecast just yet

but something we will be watching into tuesday and wednesday. you can count on the overcast out there and some drizzle. and by 4:00, still partly cloudy skies around the bay. that's all reflected in the sunday forecast. 53 to 56 degrees. still a sun cloud mix by 1:00 and partly sunny and temperatures not a big change from today's highs. maybe a few spots warmer and we could have a few more low 80s out there. san jose in the upper 70s and san francisco tops out at 63. here is a look ahead with the remainder of your weekend in view. there's the warm up we have been advertising for monday and by tuesday low 90s, a little bit of a stall wednesday with it warming back up thursday friday. i've been talking cool, cool, cool, and finally have new material to work with.
