bauer talked about two regrets. >> the irony is that sarah, josh and i oppose policies of america toward iran. >> reporter: the iranian government accused the three of spying. this past wednesday while exercising at the prison, the men got good news that they were free. >> from that day, the guards took us downstairs, they fingerprinted us and they gave us street clothes. they didn't tell us where we were going. >> reporter: after being released with a million dollars bail deal, the men then went to oman where they were greeted with relatives and shourd who was released last year. today they said they regretted the hike. >> we did not know if we crossed the border. we will probably never know. >> reporter: the men were inprisoned for 781 days they are asking for their privacy

while they get settled in at home. while glad her son is home, josh fattal's mother stated that her son's long term in prison was politically motivated. >> we know belgium bikers were in jail, french citizens, and they were all let out in very quick time. but our children were kept for two years, for no reason. >> reporter: shane bauer's mother says her family is taking it minute by minute but is confident they will be getting back to normal very soon. >> i walked down those same stairs very slowly because i was being pulled back and forward at the same time. i felt a lot of anxiety and a lot of fear and i felt that it was very wrong to be walking

out that plane alone. >> shourd says that she is holding nothing back now. an investigation is under way tonight after oakland police say one of their officers shot and killed an armed man today after a struggle with police. a coroner removed a man's body. the incident began around 5:00 when officers stopped two men in a car on 99th avenue. that's when police say the passenger began running away and officers chased him on foot. they said he struggled with the man and he was shot during that struggle. the man's gun was found at the scene. the driver of the car fled the scene. police today released the scene of a man killed yesterday in west oakland in a brazen daylight shooting. police identified the victim as roberto guzman.

guzman was reportedly working on his car when gunmen approached him and shot him point block. police tell the tribune they do have a motive in the case but they are not releasing details. no arrests have been made. the killing was oakland's 86 homicide of the year. a political protest in the form of a bake sale will move forward as planned today at the uc berkeley campus. leaders met this evening and what their decisions will mean for the organizers of

pursue a witch hunt -- crews replacing a pipe on dover street near leland way had to purge some of the gas. the pg & e spokesman say it is residents were notified of what type of work was planned. but some residents worried that it would be a gas leak. >> it was a very loud roar like you would hear from a jet plane sitting on the tarmac at an airport or just prior to take off. >> reporter: out of precaution, fire crews evacuated 50 homes before learning a released was a scheduled pg & e project. the coroner has identified the victim of a deadly hit-and- run on highway 101 this

morning. it happened around 5:40 this morning on southbound highway 101. a truck drove off and the honda was hit again by a taxi. the driver of the honda 37-year- old jackelyn thompson of daly city was killed. anyone with information is asked to call the highway patrol. the highway patrol says rain was a factor in a roll over crash this morning in the north bay. authorities say the driver of an suv lost control on a wet roadway on the southbound highway 101 connector to highway 12. nobody was injured. >> it's the first rain of the season, so the roads are very slick. it's when the oils come up to the surface. so if everybody would slow down today, definitely at least 10 to 15 minutes under the speed limit. >> reporter: chp says officers responded to several weather

in reno tonight hundreds attended a sunset memorial for victims of this month's airplane crash. a world war ii era plane crashed into a crowd of spectators. about 70 of them were injured. a piece of plane may have come lose from the tail. police say an east bay hospital patient died this weekend because of a medical mistake. the death involves the wrong amount of medication and a temporary worker. these patients work at the oncology unit in oakland. >> we get to know our patients, they become our family. >> reporter: it was in that unit that police say a 66-year-

old woman died early saturday morning because of a medical mistake. these nurses were there when it happened, they haven't been on the job since thursday. they went on strike then were locked out. when the nurses went on strike, they had no choice but to hire 500 replacement workers for a minimum of five days. the hospital admits it was one of those temporary nurses that made the fatal error. >> as soon as this incident occurred we notified the coroner's office. we notified the state of california. there are ongoing investigations which we welcome. >> reporter: nonprescribeed doses of a medication was administered. >> this was gross incompetence. >> reporter: just across the street from where those nurses spoke, security guards stood in front of the hospital entrance, this lock out is expected to last until tuesday. the california nurses association says it has asked the state department of health to investigate conditions at the hospital during the lock out.

>> we were concerned that they were using nurses that were not appropriately certified to protect the patients that they were caring for. >> all of the safety issue, all of the qualifications, all of the training that's necessary that is necessary for a nurse to perform were qualified by the nurses who came here. >> reporter: the nurse who made the mistake is no longer working here. along with a police investigation, alta base is doing their own investigation of what wept wrong. in oakland, allie rassmus. police say if man was crossing east homestead road near quit avenue when the man hit him. the unidentified man was dragged 300 feet. he later died at a hospital. police don't have a description of the vehicle but say it should have significant front end damage and possibly a broken windshield.

richmond police are looking for a driver of a vehicle similar to this one, an older model dark colored lexus with tinted windows and a rear spoiler. it's involved in a shockingly similar case. police say the driver struck and killed 52-year-old david cox also in a wheelchair. this happened friday evening. cox's family told ktvu last night they want the driver to turn themselves in. the city of sparks nevada has increased their police presence after a deadly shooting between two rival biker clubs. the man killed was the president of the san jose chapter of the hell's angels. jeffrey pettigrew was shot and killed. they were in town for a biker festival called street vibrations. that motorcycle rally was cancelled and the mayor declare add state of emergency to make it easier for assistance in

case of any more violence. we have a likely cause for yesterday's fire. the three alarm fire in newark sparked at what used to be the mervyn's. it was probably started by homeless people camped inside. fire crews searched for victims but did not find any. no one was hurt. apple is gearing up for the debut of the iphone 5 and the new ceo will el introduce it close to home. the unveiling will happen at a cupertino campus. the much anticipated i phone 5 will be the first product bought out under the supervision of the new ceo tom cook. apple store employees have been told they can forget about vacations during the first week

in afghanistan tonight a building used by the cia in kabul was attacked: u.s. officials confirmed the attack but are saying only that the situation is fluid at this point. the bbc is reporting that one attacker was killed. no word on other casualties. the attack comes just two weeks after militants attack the u.s. embassy in kabul and a truck bombing in afghanistan earlier this month wounded 77 americans. washington blames the hakani for the attack. pakistan's intelligence agency is supporting the group. today a republican senator says the u.s. has to elevate its response to pakistan. >> if they continue to embrace terrorism as part of their strategy, we're going to have to put all options on the table including defending our troops. >> reporter: voted to approve a billion dollars in aid for

pakistani counter insurgency efforts. but the aid makes the money conditional on pakistan's government cooperation against the hakani network, al-qaida and other terrorists organizations. in iraq, four back to back bombings claimed the lives of at least 10 people. karbala is considered one of the holiest cities by the shiites. earlier this month the shiites were targeted. four men were shot execution style. and a major announcement in saudi arabia. king abdula today granted women the right to vote. the move was welcomed by activists who have called for greater rights for women in the kingdom which enforces a strict version of the sunni islamic

cents less in the last week. iron chef battled in the bay area this afternoon to make the best crab dish. spanglers restaurant had 20 minutes to create their dishes. the dinner was a corn vendey created by chef dane of san francisco. the competition was part of today's seafood festival offering a variety of food and drink. part of the proceeds will go to camps and scholarships. the three day event brought an estimated 100,000 people to jack london square for a wide variety of food, beer and wine. the marsala burrito was killer maureen. there's also live music, contest and culinary demonstrations. well the bay area drizzle didn't keep visitors from one

look what happened for tomorrow. high pressure rebuildings that will generate for of an offshore flow. with that it's going to warm up the bay side locations and beaches. temperatures will be trending upwards by monday and tuesday. by tuesday the warmest locations inland will be approaching the 90 degrees mark. here's our forecast model shows you showing you some of the fog. it will be breaking up as we head into the afternoon hours. with that we're going to bring in warmer temperatures on the order about five to 10 degrees warmer than today. that orange contour links up with the 80s. warmest locations approaching the lower 80s toward fairfield and napa. oakland tops out 74. pleasanton in the upper 70s. these temperatures will check in right around 3:00 or 4:00 tomorrow afternoon. and san francisco tops out 69 degrees. here is a look ahead. your extended forecast and temperatures they're going up as we head into tuesday and wednesday. wednesday looks like it should be one of the warmest days of the week. we gradually cool things off later. your weekend always in view that will feature another big
