steve jobs next week at the company headquarters in cupertino. reporting live in palo alto, patti lee. we have more coverage on the death of steve jobs on our website. go to ktvu.com and click on the apple tap near the top. san jose police tonight are releasing few details about the deadly shooting involving their officers. it happened around 11:45 this morning just north of downtown. police say three full time officers and a reserve officer went to an apartment complex to look into a report of a suspicious person with some sort of weapon. >> one of the officers at least one felt threatened enough to fire his weapon. >> authorities describe the person killed as an adult male but have not yet released his identity. they say the investigation is ongoing. >> reporter: more details on today's officer involved

shooting in san jose. this is the sixth of 2011. there were four officer involved shootings in san jose in 2010 and three incidents in 2009. in each of those years there was one fatality. also in san jose, is it a case of rough justice. could the killer of a hell's angel at a funeral be in the custody of a club? >> this broke out feet from me and we still don't know what happened. >> reporter: this mercury film shows steve being shot down.

possibly shot by a fellows hell's angel who's identity and whereabouts are not known. in the crowd and chaos the crime scene was altered before they arrived. they admit it's possible the suspect was attacked and taken away by tossens friend. >> a great man, good father. >> reporter: those who know tossen from his bail bond business are leaving cards and candles outside his office door. >> sad. i don't understand how this happened. i don't have words. >> they thinup to no good when that's not true. >> reporter: we talked to tossen about motorcycle violence when his best friend was gunned down last month. at petigrew's grave site,

memorials are in tatters. petigrew's loved ones moved in to clean this grave site. whatever level of security san jose police thought was sufficient they're most likely rethinking it now. debra villalon. two of the oakland raiders more famous fans pay tribute today to al davis. >> al davis represented the very fabric of the culture of oakland. he was a maverick, independent, visionary, strong, you know the commitment to excellence was something that as kids we saw it every day. you're losing an era, you're not losing a person, you're losing an era. you know to me one of the best football minds that we've ever seen. >> davis died last weekend. mc hammer and ice cube both wore raider attire to today's

game. for the raiders it was the first game without al davis in the coliseum. his fans believe he was there in spirit. >> the flags at raider nation flew at half staff today. rather than a somber occasion there was a party atmosphere complete with bar-b-ques and t- shirts. fans say al davis wouldn't have had it any other way. a way to honor the man was to honor the raider. >> he was a genius. his expertise was football. and he took us to the top. we're on the way back up. >> reporter: as the afternoon wore on, fans gathered inside the stadium and shared a moment of silence in honor of al davis. the raiders took the field and an early lead. at halftime, more than a dozen raiders gathered on the field to remember al davis. john mattis lit a torch to remember his memory. >> i love to see all the

players on the field and john madden lighting that torch was incredible. >> it was a tender moment for this team with a tough reputation. >> reporter: al davis will live on through his team and the best way to honor his memory is with a win. we'll have much more on how the raiders did coming up. it has been a violent weekend in oakland with three people killed in a pair of shootings. police say abram pringel was shot at 85th an olive street. he was rushed to the hospital but died a few hours later. there was more gunfire. officers got a report of shots fired near the interstate 580 park avenue exit. >> we were spotted at the

scene. we located two adult victims. one was eventually pronounced deceased at the scene. one was transported to the hospital. >> reporter: a second young man also died. police have yet to make any arrest in the killing. the homicides come a few hours after mayor quan calls for a plan to reduce crime. last year at this time there were 65 homicides. sonoma authority say the discovery of a body is connected to an earlier call to a shooting. deputies say they found the body at 7:00 a.m. that's after an earlier 911 call of gunfire and several hours of searching for a victim. the two locations are several miles apart. authorities have not released any more information except to say they are investigating the person's death as a homicide. pg & e crews will be

venting a pipeline tomorrow morning. they're preparing the pipe for a pressure testing in an area near sand hill road and branner drive. service will not be disrupted. but people in the area may detect the smell of natural gas which should dissipate quickly. anyone worried about the smell should call pg & e. a controlled burn in the south bay could be visible across much of the bay area over the next few days. fire officials are set to perform a controlled burn. less pending weather conditions and approval from local air quality officials. the burn will help prevent wildfires and improve wildlife habitat. fire officials say people in most counties will be able to see the smoke. contra costa county health officials are reporting a third human case of west nile virus in less than a month. the cases all originated in the eastern part of the county. now the latest victim who is a 65-year-old woman and the two previous victims are all

recovering. health officials say it's a sudden increase in activity for the mosquito born disease. but they can't predict any sort of a record year because the season has been off to a late start due to cold temperatures last winter. the 6.9 loma prieta quake will have an anniversary tomorrow. last night they found four mentally challenged adults adults chained in the basement of an apartment building. the victims were malnourished with bed sours and bruises. police believe they were transported from texas and florida and spent days trapped in a dungeon. >> to think that you would

treat a human like this simply makes you sick. >> three suspects are brought forward for charges. the suspects stole the victim's social security checks. the female suspect may have been holding them for years as she moved around the country. great sadness tonight in the racing world as a champion died in a crash. the horrific 15 car wreck happened -- welden had won the indianapolis twice including this year. the race was called off by officials but drivers decided to honor weldon with a five lap tribute.

the occupy wall street movement has expanded beyond the u.s. with many groups in many countries signing on to the cause. ktvu's allie rasmuss talks to those who continue to gather for change. there's a child care area where people take turns babysitting. a camp site kitchen and shelters springing up every day. these new retired teachers did not camp out but came to support people who did. >> we're both veterans of the 60s movement. this is very reminiscent to me about the spirits of the 60s. >> reporter: but here the spirit is fueled by the difference between the rich and poor. >> there aren't any jobs. >> reporter: earlier in the week there were about 70 tents out here. now you can see just about every patch of green belt is taken up with a tent.

the movement is growing here and in other parts of the country. across the bay, occupy san francisco has more events and demonstrations planned for this week and the movement gone global. some demonstrators clashed with police in london. other anti wall street demonstrations sprung up in sidney australia. tens of thousands of people gathered in denmark. and protesters took to the streets in tokyo, madrid everyone mala even malasia. >> reporter: some say all that is missing now is more organization. >> >> i think what we need to do is bring change for others across the country. >> reporter: many out here say they plan to stay here until that happens. in oakland, allie rasmuss. activists cindy sheehan has been arrested as part of the

occupy sacramento protest. demonstratorred applauded yesterday when she joined the protest. but early this morning police arrested her and 18 others as they tried to spend the night at cesar chavez park. sheehan became famous when she tried to approach president bush at his crawford ranch not long after his son was killed in iraq. the search is on for a gunman who fired a gun at a patrol. it started last night during a routine traffic stop near the bay bridge. according to a highway patrol spokesman the driver took off and during the course of a short pursuit hit three parked cars on jackson and samsung streets. the man fired a single shot at the patrol officers then escaped on foot. there were no reports on injuries and no word yet on any

arrests. -- they believe cars were vandalized late last night or early this morning. they don't know how many tires were slashed. neighbors said they saw several cars with slashed tires. the bomb squad arrive at about 10:30 this morning after reports of something suspicious in the 800 block of wolsie street. officers roped off a section of the street which reopened around 5:00 p.m. tonight. it's unclear what if anything the bomb squad found. new at 10:00, there's a powerful new ally for those trying to legalize marijuana. thousands of california doctors are saying it's a good idea, jade. >> reporter: that's right, the california medical association says it's about regulating an unknown. we spoke to the man sometimes handled as the mayor of okesterdam.

he says he's ready to see what this does for the movement. richard lee showed us what his students study. here in the california medical associations endorsement to legalize marijuana made lee evaluate where the fight is headed. >> this alone will not change anything. but when you add it on with everything else going on. i think it's more sign which direction this policy is going to eventually end up. he showed us an amsterdam newspaper dedicated to the medical cannabis industry. >> with more control it'll be safer for everyone. >> reporter: at least that's the idea for doctors with patients like miller who walked out of the dispensary tonight. >> there's a lot of pot heads out there. but that's not what the movement is about. the movement is about getting care to people who need it. >> reporter: lee showed us what's out there which is within reason the medical association wants regulation,

to regulate. physicians can't study a fact without better access. miller puts trust where the association doesn't. >> and the people who are doing it really seem to care about the patients. >> the association claims a pot ban is a failed public health policy putting california at the forefront of the debate to legalize or not to legalize once again. >> i think we've seen the trends. a lot of trends started in california and this is another sign of that trend. >> reporter: the cma made its recommendation at its annual meeting. the california regulation has taken a stand behind it. they will release a formal statement tomorrow. reporting live, jade hernandez, ktvu channel 2 news. we're getting new details tonight about a serious boating accident that killed three people in los angeles county. authorities say the three women on a sedoo were both making high speed turns at the same

time. they said it appears the speedboats struck the seadoo. it happened yesterday in san dimas. the women on the seadoo who are all members of the same family died. three of the four people on the boat were seriously injured. auto workers for ford motor company appear closer to ratify a new contract. the union published the vote which pushed a total vote to 50%. four results will not be known until wednesday. after rejections next week, union leaders told the rank in file it was the best deal possible. this week workers for chrysler will also vote on a proposed contract. a frustrating morning for a church congregation. instead of bibles they needed brooms. and why the pastor is upset with the red cross. we're following breaking news where police

breaking news to tell you about out of pittsburg at this hour. firefighters say four people have been shot and we understand one of those injured is a juvenile. we want to show you live pictures from the scene. the shootings happened here on ravine drive near alvarado avenue. it all started about 8:30 this evening. two of the victims were air lifted by helicopter out of the area. you can see still a very active scene with officers and people there behind the crime scene tape. it's not clear what led to the shootings, bullet holes can be seen in a garage door in the area. police are not commenting on the condition of the victims but as soon as we get more information we will pass it on. u.s. treasury secretary timothy githenr is addressing

southeast asian have been extraordinarily severe. in thailand nearly 400 people have been killed. in rome, damage from yesterday's occupy wall street -- 135 people were injured. the large majority of them police officers. and in canada, it took this man more than eight hours to finish the toronto marathon today. that's a six hours longer than the man who crossed the finish line first yet singh still earned a place in the guiness book of records. the 100-year-old british citizen is hailed as the world's oldest marathoner. affectionately called the tornado he started running last year when he lost his wife and

wreck that took the life of dan weldon. this was the camera view inside of dan weldon's car just seconds before the start of this fiery crash. it was lap 11, four of the 15 cars involved went flying like lethal missiles. you can just wonder how people survived this crash. this year weldon won his second indianapolis race. he now becomes the first fatality since 2006. the rest of the race is cancelled. and the drivers take five laps in memory of dan weldon. he was an excellent spokesman
