a major traffic backup in the east bay as the authorities investigate what they say is a deadly road rage incident. i'm ken wayne. heather holmes is off tonight. thousands of drivers were stuck on eastbound 580 in oakland as authorities investigate what they call a homicide, involving a hells angel motorcyclist. this is live picture from chopper 2. there is very light traffic because the freeway is closed. authorities closed the eastbound direction at high street in oakland, closing it around 4:00 this amp, and it's been closed for several hours, about 6 hours. you can see the flashing lights

of police vehicles on scene. that pair -- paratransit van is the center of the investigation. the driver of the van is under arrest, accused of intentionally running over a motorcyclist on the freeway. we have learned the motorcyclist is a member of the hells angels motorcycle club. the freeway has been closed for some time, and there's still a lot of investigation that has to be done. that has created the huge traffic mess. jade hernandez is on the scene, and we will have a live picture from jade in a few minutes. meanwhile, another hells angel is involved in a completely different investigation. eric rasmussen is in stockton, and they are trying to track down a hells angel for murder.

the hells angels. >> reporter: they say the motorcyclists came up against a bus driver headed back home on the end of his route. >> sounds like the van was moving every to get into a rein that make the van was in, and the van turned. >> reporter: the impact sent the motorcyclist under the bus. the bus continued on, dragging the motorcycle 1 million down the stray. the drivers were forced to tie up. it's expected the eastbound 580 will reopen in a an hour. bob, there were no pattiers on board, and the driver has a clean record, with the company since february. police are not releasing any names tonight. jade hernandez, channel 2 news. the homicide investigation

on 580 creating the backup we were telling you about. this is what it looked like at 5:30, shortly after the highway control closed all the eastbound lanes at 106th avenue. cars were stopped for miles. some drivers resorted to putting their cars in reverse to get off the freeway. >> traffic was backed up. the westbound lane was moving smoothly. >> not just 580 that was backed up. scores of side streets were jammed and aparticipantly they still are as drivers try to avoid the freeway. we will keep you posted on the developing story. the occupy wall street movement is going strong in ann fran. ktvu was there as hundreds of protesters rallied at the federal reserve bank at market street. a camp has been set up not far away for 2 weeks now.

it went with antipolice brutality someday. some say the police officers are using excessive force, but police officers say they have been trying to maintain the guidelines while keeping order. the movement tweeted this morning that two demonstrators were taken into custody. it's the second arrest outside of the san jose city hall. eight people were arrested late thursday night into early friday morning. some activists wept right back to -- went right back to the demonstration. alex salmon shows us they stormed a break. >> reporter: the revolt on the streets of brooklyn as they marched from mark agawa plaza

another live picture from news chopper 2 of interstate 580 in oakland and san leandro. all of the headlights are vehicles stuck in the backup, and eastbound 580, trying to get down to castro valley. it started around 4:00 this afternoon when there was a crash, a fatal crash between a paratransit van and a motorcyclist. the highway patrol is telling us the van intentionally ran over the motorcyclist and

dragged the body for about a mile in the eastbound direction. this has become a homicide investigation we are also learning that the motorcyclist may have been a member of the hells angels. you can see the westbound traffic at the bottom of your screen that traffic is moving fine, but the eastbound traffic has really backed up. they hope to have it open by 10:00 tonight, but obviously that's not the case. now maybe by 11:00. we will have to wait and see what happens, if they do reopen during the newscast, we will let you know. president obama is facing mixed reaction on pulling all troops out of iraq by the end of the year. >> reporter: nearly 9 years after president bush declared the start of the war in iraq,
