this is the same line this was tested earlier today by 280 and woodside road and it's the reason that residents are concerned. >> we were not in the backyard at the time and we did not hear anything. this man had to be told about the high pressure water testing. as far as testing goes, it's something that they have to do. because absent that, you are not going to know about what the potential problems are. >> as this resident walked his dog, he walked past where this string of houses was marked. a companion main runs 6-8 feet away. >> we knew we were testing. we received notice from pg&e

last week, mail notice that they will be testing in the area. >> the work was to be done on pipe 132 that travels from milpetis up to the dog patch neighborhood in san francisco. >> concerned, they have had sand bags over the sewer pipes for weeks and signs explaining that they are doing testing. but we have no idea what is going on. >> having learned now of the mistakes that were made with respect to of the installation, it's a conditioner. >> we have the residents we spoke to said that he the not think that total pipe replacement can be accomplished but he supports any testing that pg&e does.

so again, today's rupture comes just two days after pg&e crews discovered the leak we mentioned earlier in that same pipeline 132 and using the same testing technique. that leak was found friday in palo alto. pg&e documents show that part of the gas line contains reused pipe that is more than 60 years old and that the public utilities commission warn them about. last month, pressure testing revealed a flaw in a pipe under a field in bakersfield. it's part of a major line that provides natural gas to the bay area. in that case, a welded seam gave way, which is what happened in the san bruno explosion. pg&e has repaired and retested that pipe. fire claimed the lives of at least five people in a home care facility for the disabled. the fire was reported around

11:45 last night and marina, a driver traveling down highway 1 near the home saw the flames and called 911. today the aunt of a 24-year-old victim said her niece was the only person that lived in that facility that could walk on her own. >> just hurting. to come and find out that somebody is so close to me, and they are gone. very young. very young and beautiful and just a person. >> when firefighters arrived on the scene, they were there telling them about the residents trapped inside. only one of them survived. it is unclear how the fire started. with just two days to go before election day, the candidates for mayor in san francisco are pulling out all the stops to try toal rally support. we report, that means calling out the goats too. >> goats served as walking

investigators in -- in somona county are trying to figure out what happened to cause a car crash and have two men dead. officers say a white honda slammed into a tree andkied the two people in the inside. and richmond police say drug racing and a drunk driver led to a deadly crash there. it happened at 1:00 this the morning. hots say the two cars clipped each other and spun out of control. one of the drivers, 17-year-old pablo lopez was killed. two other people were hospitalized. the driver of the second is vehicle involved. 21 israel gomez was arrested for vehicular manslaughter. some nurses at an oakland hospital say they are worried about their sincerity after a patient attacked a fellow

nurse. ktvu's reporter is telling us how this happened. >> i heard screaming. >> this nurse was working at the medical center friday morning when a patient lashed out at one of the nurses. >> the patient had his hands around her throat and then put her in a he head lock and started to hit her with his fists the back of her head. >> hospital security responded and so did other police. the nurse is fine. physically other than a few bruises on her head but mentally and emotionally, she is still in shock. >> i know that the medical center is doing what they can to get to the bottom of it. >> she doesn't usually work in the hospital. >> when a patient starts to get upset we have a code that we can call to get assistance.

but nurses like this say that code has limitations. she feels unsafe. >> we need security that can do something as far as i love my security but they are limited. they can not put their hands on patients. we need a better system in place. >> the nurse's unions say already members should have a say in adapting the security procedures, it's one of the sticking points in the on going negotiations. >> we would like for the nurses to be able to have input. >> but hospital officials say they give their employees at least 10 hours of workplace safety training every year. representatives from the nurse's union said they filed a workplace safety complaint against the hospital. first he was and then he was not. today a surfer tries to claim a title at san francisco beach.

at about 11:00 this morning one person was shot near tenth and campbell street in west oakland near an elementary school. one witness tells ktvu news he heard about 20 shots fired. police say the victim was taken to highland hospital. earlier this morning, there was gunfire at east 18th street and rosedale avenue. officers arrive there at the scene and found two victims inside a car suffering from gunshot wounds. they were both taken to the hospital. their conditions have not yet been released. san jose police are searching for a man they say sexually assaulted a 14-year- old girl yesterday evening. police say the assault happened near madden avenue and shaw street just before 6:00. the attacker is described as a latino in his early 30s with slight facial hair. anyone with information on the case is asked to call san jose police. connecticut's largest utility is apologizing to customers for missing a deadline to restore power to

99% of their customers. connecticut power promised to get the power on by tonight. but more than 80,000 customers are still without electricity and temperatures are about to hoover above freezing. >> at least 10 people have died as a result of the storm. many have been cold and more many have been inconvenienced. this should not have happened and my job is to find out why it did and most importantly my job is to make sure this does not happen again. >> reporter: the governor spent the day visiting shelters in hartford today. the utility says it plans to reach its 99% target by tomorrow night. here in california we're used to earthquakes but oklahoma? the nation's heart land gets shaken up. see how they reacted when the largest earthquake to strike that state hit late last night. how the housing collapse has trickled down to bay area courts and led to a flood of

leaders to give them more financial aid. thousands of protesters carried a fake pipeline to the white house today. >> they want to stop a 1,700- mile long oil stands pipeline that would extend from canada to the gulf coast. because it would cross the border the project requires president obama's approval. environmentalists are against the pipeline because of the risk of oil spills and likely impacts on global warming. backers say it would create jobs. the president says he's waiting for an environmental the review on the project. the incoming president of the college of allergy, asthma and neurology says scented candles and plug ins are being used more often and that he's hearing a larger amount of compliants.

that complaint ranges from easy noses to headaches and breathing problems. he says allergists need to be more aware of the issue. penn's state athletic director and a school administrator have stepped down following a meeting over charges of former coach sanduski. he's accused of molesting eight boys via his foundation. today the head coach said he was shocked. others urge that sanduski must be innocent. >> until i hear it from his mouth i don't believe it. there's nothing i've seen that would lead me to believe he took part in this. >> he is a nice guy. everybody who knows jerry would

wrapping up the first weekend of november with some pretty cool temperatures out there. of course we had the heavy rainfall last night about this time. and today we had a little bit of everything with sunshine, breaks in the cloud. everyone some thunderstorms. this was the scene today looking out toward ocean beach. boy look at that's beautiful as you can see the chop on the ocean waters there with an on shore breeze about 10 to 25 miles per hour. it was cool a bit brisk out there with gusty winds. still a beautiful sunset to enjoy if you were bundled up. this is the first sunset as we're back to standard time at 5:06. live storm tracker 2 you can pick a few showers dissipating mainly to the east bay. as we come tighter you can see the loop. earlier this evening we had a few showers, for the most part we do have dry conditions which is partly cloudy skies. forecast headlines for tonight, partly cloudy. it'll be chilly out there. most of the area in the 40s to

60 degrees. tomorrow morning cloud cover, fog and sun cloud mix into the afternoon. the extended forecast, rain will be making a come back. overnight lows coolest locations tomorrow morning will be in the mid-30s. most of the bay area starting off monday in the 40s. the fog will be a factor. the inland bay valleys and especially up in the north bay. could be locally down to visibility coming down to a half mile especially up in santa rosa. here's the plan for tomorrow. at 7:00 mid-30s. the fog and cool temperatures here. at 3:00 an afternoon high of 63 degrees. satellite the radar of course at this time the cold front moving across northern and central california. high pressure returns, with that the storm track gets pushed up to our north and as a result a dry weather pattern for monday, tuesday and wednesday. once again we'll keep an eye aopb that fog for the value -- keep an eye on that fog for the valley locations. valley temperatures do come up
