thought he was being deported. >> reporter: halpern turnpike was an immigration agent who told j.b. librojo he could stay and that same immigration agent who very well would have led him away in handcuffs when librojo was told he had to show up at the international terminal a few hours ago. this is the moment that josi j.b. librojo and his wife were dreading a meeting with an immigration agent at sfo to find out if he would be deported, but almost two minutes into the conversation, we watched librojo shake hands and hug the agent and deliver the news to a crowd of supporters. >> i was waiting for a letter. >> reporter: so you could go home tonight? >> yeah. >> all right! whoo. [ applause ] >> reporter: the agent wouldn't talk to us about the government's sudden change of heart and minutes

later an employee with philippine airlines asked him to check-in for a flight to manila, but now has an indefinite leave of stay. librojo has been fighting to stay in the u.s. since last year when he learned a longstanding request for political asylum was denied. yet he has been living and working in the bay area since 1995 when he moved from the philippines with his family. >> he is a tax-paying person in the u.s. and not abaded the law. >> reporter: he reminded supporters he has a difficult fight to remain here permanently, but this grit graduate of san francisco state, tonight was a victory worth celebrating. >> right now i'm happy. >> we're just happy. thank you everyone for all of the help. >> reporter: librojo has credited this on- line petition that already has more than 8,000 signatures for helping him avoid deportation tonight and he is now asking

the department of homeland security and even president obama to give his case another look. we're live in san francisco, eric rasmussen ktvu channel 2 news. protesters from occupy oakland took to the streets this evening, marching between frank ogawa plaza and police headquarters. jade hernandez in oakland with the latest efforts to shut down the occupy encampment. jade. . [ inaudible ] . >> reporter: the march from what i understand was to show solidarity to marchers in egypt and cairo because of the police brutality they suffered. >> reporter: several hundred protesters mayored from broadway to the jail, commenting. the moment's encomfortment in front of city hall received their

second eviction notice from city hall. an estimated 160 or so tects are still up tonight. >> i don't think there are a lot of people too excited about the idea of leaving willingly. >> reporter: the city extended homeless areas and others maintain they have a purpose. >> the financial giants gambled and now pel are losing their homes and lives because they are on the straps and we're out here, trying to stop that. and the city has done nothing about those sort of evictions and what they want to do is they are on the side of the banks and the rich. >> reporter: no matter the opinion, the city administrator's office has warned anyone staying now risk arrest. >> this occupy feels the movement has outgrown the space. >> we'll have to move eventually and the people saying that we're not going to go anywhere, you are fooling yourself and keying i don't

have in this little square. what protesters don't want to give up is the occupation's constant reminder of the country's issues that they feel they are highlighting. . [ inaudible ] well oakland police are hoping to avoid a violent clash with protesters like the one last month that led to hundreds of complaints oakland police say they received 90 complaints from around the world about law enforcement's tactics during the october 25th protest. police say only 12 of those complaints actually came from people at that demonstration. law enforcement used tare gas and non-liegele projectiles last month as had he tried to disperse protesters. officers say they were justified in using the tactic

as protesters were throwing rocks and bottles at them. scottones the iraq war veteran who suffered serious injuries in that protest has been released from the hospital. friends say olsen was discharged yesterday. occupy organizers say the 24- year-old vet was hit by a tear- gas canister fired by officers of the police though have not confirmed that and say they are investigating the incident. san francisco police are looking for two occupy protesters who attacked officers during an egypt saladarity march this solidarity march this afternoon. the group was marching along the embarcadero this afternoon when the altercations happened. police say they were trying to keep people from the middle of the intersection at broadway when a woman sliced an officer's hand with an exacto blade and then police say a protesters took another officer's radio and as the officer ran after him another

demonstrator cut that officer's face and tore his uniform. occupy protesters swarmed a bank of america in richmond to try to close their accounts. instead it was the bank that closed. ktvu's john sasaki reports. >> reporter: dozens hit the bank at san pablo and richmond. >> we are asking them to recognize that we're the community that. sour money in the banks, but it's our people, our neighborhoods, our communities. >> reporter: they were here as part of the spreading occupy movement decrying economic and political inequality. >> it's a long journey, but i believe we we can make a change. >> reporter: the group targeted bank of america party because of the foreclosure crisis. >> i'm sick and tired of the bans taking our money and homes. >> reporter: they say the crisis and in turn the banks are doing il repairable home to the eld neighborhoods. neighborhoods, such as this one around lucas avenue where we

found a row of five properties, three of which are abandoned and blighted. >> there are 15 in my neighborhood in a two-block range that are foreclosed and being broken into and when the banks were using loopholes saying they didn't own it. >> protesters want customers to take their money out of bank of america, which this man tried to do, but couldn't because the bank was closed. he returned after going to another bank. [ applause ] >> reporter: a bank spokesperson sent a statement saying b of a continues to be a great place for customers to manage their daily finances and achieve their savings goal." in richmond, john sasaki, ktvu channel 2 news. dozens are under arrest in salt lake city as police there clear out the encampment. officers moved into pioneer

park earlier today, warning protesters to leave. at least 91 people have been arrested there so far. a man was found dead inside a tend apparently from drugs and carbon monoxide poisoning. they say the protesters can go on, but the camping must stop. >> in denver occupy protesters are being kicked out of their encampment. a traffic camera caught a glimpse of scene. demonstrators have been camping out for more than a month. no word on the number of arrests made. we'll be sure to stay with ktvu channel 2 news for continuing coverage when police do move in on the oakland encamp the. we'll have it for you on-air and on-line at ktvu.com. the reward is grow tonight for information on the drowning of a cat in redwood city. that cat was found in the redwood shores lagoon last week with a 5-pound dumbbell tied around its week. human society announced that new donations bring the reward

school districts plan to appeal a judge's decision that dismissed their lawsuit. the district sued san mateo county and the county officials after the district lost $20 million when the county invested with lehman brother. a san francisco judge issued the tentative rule on thursday saying that county and former tax collector were immune from civil suits. pg&e crews in woodside are cleaning you after retesting a portion of pipeline along interstate 280 that burst during safety testing last weekend. they finished water pressuring before 7:00 tonight without any problems. crews will spend the next few days covering the pipe in protective coat and refilling the hole that is exposing the pipe. the evacuation order prompted residents in richmond neighborhood to leave today after a gas line ruptured transmit the richmond fire department spokesperson says a private contract hit the pg&e line at south 49th interest and wall avenue around 10:30 this morning the. says the two" plastic pipe was

at. >> reporter: a wrinkle here, maybe one there, but for 7.5 decades. >> there are curves to it and not just square blocks. she has stood tall over the bay, connecting one community to the next. >> it's a great view from wherever you, look down, looking up, it's just beautiful. >> reporter: the summer 1933, with the great depression underway, that is when it all gab to fake shape. the towers, the cables, the tunnel, one day at a time. >> it took three years and four months to construct. >> reporter: and during that time more than 20 men lost their lives, building what is so high and what is so far and in the eyes of some she may not be as beautiful as the golden gate bridge, but she is strong and she is has endured. 9 million cars traveled across the bridge in its first year and an estimated 200 million traveled across it last year. the bay bridge was hit hard by

mount diablo. officials say the woman's land recover plunged about 300 yards from the road near the south gate entrance. her body was thrown from the vehicle. tonight the victim has been identify as 5-year-old lorettia hale of danville. nobody else was hurt and the chp continues to investigate that crash. honesty has been targeted by dishonest thieves. someone in thed that a 3-feet long copper sword was missing from abraham lincoln's tomb. it's thought that the sword was stolen to sell the copper. the sword had a broken handle disappeared sometime between september and early new york. the tomb used to be guarded overnight, but because of budget problems that position was cut. researchers from the centers for disease control report that most tobacco smokers want to quit. the study found that 70% of smokers wish they could give up the habit. accord, to the study counseling helps the chances ever substance. still 20% of the u.s. population smokes.

. well, the rain clouds have moved out of the bay area and we'll be on cruise control mode the next few days with the forecast, but major changes developing for the second half of november. right now i can show you on live stormtracker q2 a few high clouds moving into northern and central california, including the bay area. and temperatures are cooling off. looking at the north bay, santa rosa and napa right now in the mid to upper 40s, on-track to reach of the 30s first thing tomorrow morning. this was the theme today looking across the bay and the setting sun with mostly clear skies, a few high clouds have

been on the increase and will be part of our forecast for tonight. partly cloudy skies, temperatures on the cool side. tomorrow temperatures come up a few degrees and for monday, tuesday and wednesday, a dry weather pattern and minor warm, but beyond wednesday we bring changes to the forecast. tomorrow morning the coolestlocs in the upper 30s, san francisco 49 and fremont 45 and livermore starting out sunday in the upper 30s of the remember yesterday at this time we had the rain clouds pushing through parts of the bay area and right now heading out of southern cank. a few high clouds will be a factor for tonight into early tomorrow morning, but as high pressure re build and strengthens, temperatures come up a few degrees monday and tuesday. no big changes, but a little bit of a bump in the numbers. there is that dry weather pattern in play. as far as the cloud forecast model showing you an increase in the cloud as we take this
