a tense situation for most of the day in a new ward neighborhood. >> and for much of the day that s.w.a.t. team surrounded that neighborhood as police there searched for a gunman on the loose. we are live now in that neighborhood with the latest on the investigation and if the

suspect was found. alex. >> reporter: no, not found, police were searching for a person involved in the shooting and they came up empty in that search, it is up the street in a house on olive. new ward police and the union city police department were involved here. also, there was a major crime tasks force from the department of justice involved as well. officers searched the house but they didn't find the people they went in looking for. this stemmed from a shooting around 11:00, a man was shot twice on a street but he survived those injuries. investigators had evidence that led them to a house nearby. we talked to some neighbors forced out of their homes tonight by the swat operation. >> it was a surprise because i never see like this kind of thing. two or three police cars. it is my first time. i have lived here for a while and never seen this kind of

violence. >> reporter: the commander from the newark police department says that the shooting is gang related despite the police presence in the swat operation on this street no arrests have been made but people that live here are back in their home at this hour. live in newark, alex saf vick. a water main break is calling concern in one san pablo neighborhood as there are concerns of a fuel line break. the incident started around 9:30, when crews found the 60- inch water main along with an 8- inch water line broken at fordam street. the trouble is that a kinder morgan fuel line runs through that area and there are concerns that flooding could damage that line. he says right now kinder morgan

is trying to perge the line. five homes have lost water and that the large break should not affect water supplies in other areas. occupy protesters marked a milestone in their movement today. it's been three months since the demonstrations begin and some are still gathered. >> reporter: there is a small group in this park, one ten remains standing, earlier today there was a louder message made. marking the 3rd month of demonstrations, this march attracted five hundred people for one cause. >> free bradley manning. >> reporter: free bradly manning as the supporters rallied in support of him, bradly was defending allegations that he was the source to wikileak documents. he was an analyst that had

school students. sonya va last quez went to six campuses between october and november to find her young victims. she claimed to be a friend and asked to see their gold necklaces and replaced them with costume necklaces. police believe she sold the necklaces to jewelry stores. dozens of people are out of their apartments after a fast moving fire. >> reporter: it took just minutes for a small fire to spread through this 18 unit apartment complex on sure point court. >> we had two floors involved in the fire and six units that were occupied and six families that are now displaced and we are trying to get a count on that right now. >> reporter: an estimated 60 firefighters fought the blaze that started before 11:00 this morning on the 2nd floor. >> as we were running by the actual apartment in flames, a guy had a fire extinguisher and

he was backing out. >> reporter: this gentleman lives across the hall from the apartment where the fire started. he says neighbors banging on the doors alerted him to the blaze. >> i opened up the door and there was smoke coming at me and i was like whoa and i grabbed my shorts. >> reporter: and the firefighters had to chase the blaze through ducts in the wall and cut a hole through the roof which became unstable that they were forced to retrieve. >> a fire will double in size every minute and the fire spread relatively quickly. >> the fire department is still investigating the cause of the blaze but a resident says the neighbor's baseboard heater caught on fire and no one was injured but the fate of several pets is still unknown. >> we have one cat inside but he is at the far end and we are hoping he is okay. >> reporter: dozens working with the red cross to find places to stay in the short- term and it is unclear if or when they will be allowed to return to these apartments.

rampage inside of an office building in owendale, the shooter is 48-year-old andre turner. police say turner, a southern california edison employee showed up at work and shot four of his coworkers killing two of them before taking his own life. investigators are looking into a motive for that attack. secretary of defense leon panetti made a short stop in libya today. the secretary said the newly formed government had a long transition ahead but confident it would succeed. the four hour trip was the first the american secretary has made to libya. panetti offered u.s. support but no discussion about army aid. >> libya is in the hands of the libyan people. they will chart their future. they will determine what assistance they require from the united states and the

bay area managers have declared spare the air day burning wood inside or outside is banned unless it is your only source of heat, there's 1.4 million fireplaces and wood stoves in the 9 counties and they say air pollution from burning can cause health problems during the winter. we have been dealing with

the dry weather and a very stable weather pattern and the air quality has been coming down a bit and cool numbers and these are the current numbers, santa rosa 37 degrees and napa in the lower 30s right around 33 and napa will be on track to reach the uppers to tomorrow morning. you can see the forecast low of 28. san raffle around 36 and san jose in the upper 30s and we will have patchy dense fog developing in the north bay inland valleys and for the east bay as well especially closer to concord and fairfield. here is the setup. high pressure has been in command of the weather and you will notice the rain showers to the south and los angeles having a wet weekend and so far and into the second half of the weekend and in the bay area it has been dry month so far and you can see the first couple of weeks pretty dry out there and then a couple of rain storms. can't call them storms but a few showers and last week and we are setting up another rain free forecast and with that some patchy morning fog and
