wasn't able to hold on to her. so she called 911. amanda actually headed down the trash chute and was stopped by bags of garbage that were lodged in the trash chute there. so she didn't fall the whole way to the ground. that could ve have been serious injury. amanda was stuck in the trash chute for more than an hour. >> oh, my gosh. there could be people on other floors throwing stuff out on top of her. >> you can see in this photo the firefighters rescuing amanda from the garbage chute. and the worst part, she never even got her phone back. >> the paramedics and the fire department said if there wouldn't have been trash down there, i would have fallen into the trash compactor. >> i've never heard of somebody falling through one of these trash chutes, but it's not the first time something like this happened. just a month ago, a 16-year-old boy in chicago fell 46 stories to his death through a garbage chute in a high rise apartment. so this has happened before and

actually pretty recently. >> i'm just glad that i'm alive and i thank god that i'm alive because, i mean, i could have suffocated. >> she was inches away from a trash compactor. she was literally saved by a pile of garbage. >> how much how many showers did she take after that was over? >> this is a man at a walmart store loading up on bottles and bottles of tide, laundry detergent. he load is it up to his car and stormses out of this walmart. >> so he didn't pay for this tide. >> no. but this isn't the first time he's done it. in the first weeks of 2012, he stole about $6,300 worth of tide. >> with the same method? he just bolts out the door? >> is there a black market for tide that we don't know about? >> as a matter of fact, there is. apparently tide is becoming the new stolen rolex because people don't want to pay the $10 to $20

that it costs to buy tide at the store, and so they're buying this black market tide between $5 and $10. >> you'll see it at swap meets, flea markets. >> the man you're seeing in this it jo video is 53-year-old patrick costanzo. he was arrested and admitted to having stolen about $25,000 worth of tide in the last 15 months. reports say that after being asked why he was doing this, patrick said that it's because he's been up employed, the state won't help him and he needed to figure something out to get by. >> the prince georges county police department said when they sent an informant to try to buy drugs, the dealer said, i don't have drugs, but i have tide. >> imagine a guy with a trench coat opening it up. >> patrick was charged with felony theft and if found guilty, he faces ten years in prison. richmond police are looking for a hit and run suspect. you see this guy that just came

out of this shop? he's walking down the street, he has his hands open. he might be talking to the guy up ahead of him. he came out of that shot. he walks across the street. he's just outside of the crosswalk. he finds his way into the crosswalk. he's almost to the other side of the street but he dropped something, stopped to pick it up. >> oh. >> oh. >> that black car runs right into the guy, slows down, stops briefly but then keeps going. never stops to see if the guy is okay. some other people in the area see what happened. the guy that was just ahead of him comes back, stops the car that's coming towards him. remarkably, he gets up. he has very minor injuries. and he got up and was able to go and call police. the man is 44 years old. richmond, virginia, police are looking for that black car that does not stop after he hit this guy. >> i don't understand the hit and run mentality. like, how you don't stop to help someone that you potentially just injured or possibly killed. >> people think, well, pi stop

and help this guy, i have to pay his medical bills. it's easier to run away. >> if you've been drinking, they're going to charge you for drinking and driving. but if someone stops and helps and you don't hurt them, you don't see any cite. >> right. this video is going to make you feel a wide range of emotions. this is in north merrick, new york. what you're seeing is an entire community coming together to welcome home a soldier. corporal kevin p. vaughn enlisted in the marine corps to serve his country. and on his second deployment to afghanistan, his armored vehicle hit an i.e.d., which ultimately resulted in the lost of his leg. now, his community was so incredibly proud of his service and proud to have him back in their town that they all came together and set up this

beautiful parade. >> there's a close-up shot. you can see his face and the tears in his eyes as he sees what this community has done for him. >> to drive through this street with all those american flags and firefighters, veterans, what an amazing feeling that must be. ♪ and i'm proud to be an american where at least i know i'm free ♪ >> he gets out of the car and he's hugging his family members and his friends. >> he found the guys who put this video together. they're josh k. and jason trullio. they're members of the north merrick fire department. they're joining us right this minute. >> was kevin expecting this? did he know that any of this was going to happen? >> no, actually, he had no idea. it was planned with his family and also the association, they wanted to do something nice for him without him having any idea what was going on. >> so he hpt been home yet, he was just coming from the airport and turned the corner and this is what he saw?

>> yeah. we pretty much scooped him right off the parkway. as soon as he came in, the fire department archways were there, the marine corps color guard, everybody was there to support him and that's when the emotion on his face started and it was incredible. >> he was beyond humbled by the support that he never realized he had behind him. >> what was so special about this particular homecoming? >> it just touched us that such a young guy, 22 years old and he came home, you know, with such a terrible injury. itdidn't go unnoticed and we preciated him. >> just released surveillance video shows a fire bug in action. >> he did it in broad daylight in front of a camera. >> sparking the blaze was just the beginning. see what he did next. and it's a porsche on ice. >> why wouldn't you want a porsche on ice? >> exactly.

we got this story from lemesa pat.com. the guy you're seeing in this surveillance footage is standing outside a lom bar in lemesa, california. he is 51-year-old michael joseph morris. behind the bar web starts looking for combustible materials. takes his lighter and starts a fire on the hillside behind this bar. >> he did it in broad daylight in front of a camera. >> and this was on a hot day in september of last year and the fire quickly spread up the hill. and the weird thing is, morris comes back to check on it, to make sure that it's spreading. >> this drives me fricking nuts that this guy would do this on purpose. >> this clips came from the san miguel fire district. they say this fire threatened property and threatened homes. michael joseph morris just
