station to tune in our truck so we could hear how the victims were being honored. on a near perfect afternoon, people gathered on boats and on the shore to remember loved ones lost doing what they loved. >>elmer morrissey. >> reporter: a single shotgun blast honored each of the fevpeople who could not be saved arch their sailboat capsized during a race near the farallone i'lls islands a week ago. nick vos was engaged to alexis bush, one of the fight of lost, including mark kasanin, jordan fromm. we watched as sharon gourd

leandro. a shooting in oakland left a man dead. investigators say a police shot spotter picked up shots fired this morning of they say the victim ran to a home and banged on the door for help. people inside called 911, but the young man denied at the scene. police say the victim was not carrying identification, and there have been no arrests. also in oakland the highway patrol took four people into custody following a high-speed chase that started in walnut creek. the highway patrol says officers tried to stop this red sedan for erratic driving on interstate 680 last night. the chase made from 680 interstate 980 at speeds up to

120 miles per hour. authorities say the driver crashed into a fire hydrant on west grand avenue where he and three passengers were taken into custody. a 27-year-old man from san bruno was killed this morning in san francisco with his motorcycle hit the center kid divide on southbound highway 101. officers shut down the freeway between the octavio boulevard and van ness exits. the motorcyclists a name is not being released until his family is notify. today was a day that had just about everyone talking about the weather. it was clear, sunny and very warm. ktvu's john saki shows us how some people enjoyed all of the sunshine. >> reporter: lunch al fresco was on the meno today, but the shade was critical. >> i'm enjoying every second of it. >> reporter: at nearby cold stone creamery, the heat had people lining up

reach areas like hillsides and rock formations between morgan hill and gilroy. >> we have conducted searches, but didn't focus on areas outside of flat lands. so if search-and-rescue member is confronted with rocks and hillside theorize ready to repel and do rock climbing if they have to. >> reporter: over at the volunteer center, more than 80 first-timers joined many more returning volunteers. >> i'm a parent myself. so i think this is everybody parent as worst nightmare. >> sierra is everybody's daughter and that is just the testimony of how people are really feeling out there. and that really gives us hope. >> reporter: this weekend marks the beginning of week 6 in the search for sierra lamar. >> i can't believe it's been that much time. everyday it gets -- it just gets harder. >> reporter: the family wanted to thank all the folks who helped to pass

out 4,000 fliers today, including at oakridge mall and gilrey outlets and wanted to thank bart, which put up 200 fliers their cars this week. investigators remain tight- lipped about the new leads they announced on monday. the only hint it came from lab results from the evidence that has already been collectedful they are hopeful it will lead to a suspect. sort 'after sierra lamar disappeared investigators pound found a bag, clothing and cell phone that belonged to her. another search is planned for tomorrow morning. in san joaquin county mourners paid their respects to a young woman who disappeared 14 years ago and whose remains were found this year we a map tran by a notorious serial killer. it was in november of 1998 that 25-year-old cindy vanderheiden

disappeared. wesley shermantine and herzog were convicted of killing her, but her remains were not discovered in until this year. vanderheiden's family says the discovery of her remains have helped them heal. >> thank you everybody that we know for their prayers and thoughts. >> shermantine is on death-row and loren herzog killed himself in january. authorities released no, ma'am of a carjacking suspect killed by sheriff's deputies last night. the sacramento county coroner office identify the suspect as 8-year-old jimmy lee graves. authorities say he barricaded himself last night where he shot at officers and set fire to the unit. sheriff's deputies shot graves, who was on i second floor balcony, so firefighters could enter the building and put out the fire there. >> an update on the story we told you about last night a pga

spokesperson confirmed that a 55-year-old man died after he tries to move downed power lines in san mateo. the man was driving down south norfolk street around 630 when pg&e says he spotted the downed line. he was electrocuted when he touched the lines. he was taken to stanford hospital where he was pronounced dead. the man's name has not been released. nadia lockyer is offering insight to her resignation. >> i don't want like the word "victim," but someone who didn't realize how to heal from what i went through the last year. >> in an exclusive interview, lockyer says it's time to focus on her family. lockyer has been embroiled in a
