. >> complete bay area news coverage starts right now. this is the 10:00 on ktvu channel 2. >> it's come town right on schedule. the latest on the doyle drive demolition and how it's affecting drivers trying to get across the golden gate bridge. >> good evening, i'm ken wayne. >> i'm heather holmes. >> crews are working to bring down doyle drive and get a replacement road in time for the monday commoner commute. eric rasmussen joins us live with an update. >> reporter: heather, behind me you can see what is left of doyle drive all that heavy equipment still at work tonight. you know, crews actually gave us pieces of rubble from today's demolition, just a tiny portion of the concrete and

steel that is coming down this weekend. cheers erupted with each 30' span of doyle drive brought down by massive hydraulic hammers. the demolition project reviewed new views of the bay area and drew big crowds including mark russell and his son. >> you look to look at big crane trucks. >> we're right on schedule. >> reporter: but project managers say they are still working against the clock, even with critical portions demolished they still have other important work to finish before monday morning. while traffic is down 50-60%, caltrans is asking drivers to heed the warnings and stay away. >> it can get bogged down very quickly and that will delay the critical deliver. asphalt that we need. >> reporter: one place you are sure to avoid

traffic this caltrans simulator showing us what drivers will encounter on monday and even when the entire project is finished in 2015. meanwhile engineers have set up 16 of these device as round the construction sitesite to monitor dust. but some of the closest neighbors say all of the change is welcomed. >> it's a big deal around here. i think we're all looking forward to what is going to be the future for the presidio without this big structure. >> reporter: and back here live, i checked with caltrans the last 0 moats and they say things are still running on schedule at point. we asked where all of the rubble is going from the demolition projects and officials say it will be recycled in future road projects. construction manager told me paving of the temporary bypass in this project should begin in about one hour. we're live in san francisco, eric rasmussen, ktvu channel 2 news. now you can take a look into the future. caltrans createdded this animation to show us what

motorists will encounter after the demolition work is complete. the viaduct and roadway is set to be mace n-place by monday morning. despite warning of ser traffic done congestions, some drives made the trek to the city. christien kafton reports. >> reporter: while crews worked around-the- clock to demolish doyle drive, drivers had to take lincoln boulevard through the presidio, the long route and in some cases the very long route. >> we have been waiting in traffic for about 30 minutes from down by crissy field. >> reporter: some drivers said they didn't hear about the doyle drive closure, and others say the

detours were confusing. police report few problems in the richmond district. crews are on-hand, allowing drivers to make a usually illegal left-hand turn offer presidio. drivers say there were minimum delays entering san francisco. >> we thought about taking the ferry. >> reporter: bijan sartipi caltran director for the bayer was on hand to watch the demolition and said drivers seemed to gotten the message to avoid the message and given the amount of traffic it usually carries. >> we really thank the puck for ception that delay. it's not as big as it could be. >> reporter: caltrans is advising drivers to avoid the area if at all possible, but if you simply cannot avoid this area, they are advising drivers to use publication transportation to try to alleviate some of the traffic. christien kafton, ktvu channel

2 news blue angel with the weekend close where were of doyle drive other bay area bridges have been picking up the slack. this is the toll bridge at 6:00. traffic was pretty heavy heading into san francisco. caltrans is seeing an uptick on the richmond-san rafael bridge as well. the final golden gate ferry is set to leave san francisco bound for larkspur at 10:30 the ferry is leaving at&t park after the giant's game. the ferry is typically reserved for those who attend the game, but there is certain tonight that people wanting to leave the city will try to get on that boat, leading to some overcrowding on the ferry. >> to find out what the traffic is like in the doyle drive area we have live drive time updates on our website. you can go to ktvu.com. golden gate bridge workers are urging occupy protesters to keep the span open during a demonstration which is planned for next week. workers are plan a one-day strike on tuesday to protest

possible cuts in health benefits. occupy protesters say they plan to show their solidarity and have threatened to block traffic. bridge officials say they will be prepared for any possible action. the group occupying a plot of land owned uc berkeley held workshops. group calling itself occupy the farm has been using a piece of land in albanys a communicatal garden. land is owned by uc berkeley and used for agricultural research. the group is planning more events tomorrow. the city of oakland meanwhile this week filed a lawsuit against two more occupy protesters stemming from a day of protests back in january. chloe watlington and paul woods are accused of spray-painting scotland convention center. they want to cover the cost for

cleaning up the property. the city refsly sued another occupy protesters for sandallism. there is new development in a search for missing teenager sierra lamar cara liu. >> reporter: the signs and yellow ribbons have been up for weeks, but now the reward has more than doubled to $25,000 for bringing sierra lamar home safe. recent donations include $10,000 from an anonymous donor as well as contributions large and small from the community. >> i have somebody say my kids wanted to do something. they couldn't go on the search so they went around the neighborhood and collect funds. >> the important thing is to get her back home. >> reporter: more than 150 volunteers helped to distribute fliers and search new areas. >> well, what we were doing

to donate' porshe of its provides tomorrow night. we're live in mortgage hill, carra lew, ktvu channel 2 news. a 15-year-old girl died wide while riding in a pickup truck heading to the hospital with a stabbing victim. in brentwood police say it started just after midnight when three people were stabbed during a fight. police say two of the victims drove themselves to the hospital. while friends attempted to take the third development to the hospital. they say on this way there, their truck ran a red light and collided with a another car. the truck flipped on its side, trapping the teenaged girl. police say the october pontas in the other car, a mother and daughter suffered significant injuries. six people are displaced tonight after a two-alarm fire destroyed a house had unincorporated san leandro. that fire broke out at about 9:00 on pico place. firefighters say the flames and smoke could be seen for miles. 36 firefighters responded and had that fire contained in

about 45 minutes. one house though was destroyed. two others damaged. no one was hurt, but two cats and a dog remain missing. the cause of that near is being investigated. san francisco police tonight are asking for the public's help as they investigating a possible homicide in golden gate park. police say they found the male victim last night around 7:20 behind the studio. he was having difficulty breathing, but lost consciousness before an ambulance arrived. he was then pronounced at the end at the hospital. investigator says they heard reports that the man may have been in a fight east of the studio. the victim is only describe as 56 years old and no other information has been released. police have identified two suspects in a deadly stabbing yesterday in san josi. officers were called to a house on cleveland avenue near bascom avenue before 2:00 a.m. for the report of stabbing. san josi police say they are looking for two brothers suspected in the homicide. they are identified as 20-year- old jonathan alexander bess and

23-year-old brian james ques bess, who is also 23. the victims' employment has not been released, but san josi police tell us that he is a 51- year-old man. also had san josi, police arrested this man, 21 alphonso martin after the man martin allegedly struck with a vehicle during an argument died of his injuries. the victim, osvaldo ortega was struck by the car. martin was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon. one man is dead and 100 more injured after a tent near a st. louis cardinals game collapsed after high buttons swept through that city. the tend tent was located out of a sportsbar a couple of blocks south of bush stadium. most of those injured suffered cuts and bruises.

firefighters say it's unclear how the one man died, but owner of the bar contends that the victim was struck by lightning. a series of small earthquakes shook part of southern california today. the first a magnitude 3.8 struck around 8:00 this monk. it was centered in san bernard county. a 2.0 county aftershock happened about two minutes later followed by a 1.8 magnitude quake around 8:15. no damage or injuries were reported, but officials say the initial quake shook buildings 60 miles away in downtown l.a.. this video just into the ktvu newsroom, it came in just about an hour ago. we're learning what what led up to this fiery crash on a bay area freeway. one of the sailors who died in the low speed chase boating accident is remembered tonight. we'll have the musical tribute. and the standoff between a man and

petaluma. police identified him as. they say officers were pursing him a suspect in a domestic battery investigation. the lanes were shute for about 30 minute. p about 100 people gathered for amemorial service for one of the victims of the sailboat tragedy after the farallone islands. >> the berkeley memorial service for a sailor killed two weeks today was much more of a celebration. >> he was just that kind of guy. >> reporter: 32-year-old elmer morrissey died with four others when the yacht was overcome by rogue waves near farallone islands. james o'donnell was best

twins. the one time lover who nadia lockyer accused of attacking her will not face criminal charges in connection with that accident. a spokesperson says after reviewing the perp 3rd incident they determined that no charges would be filed. a lawyer for the man, says her client is very relieved. the wife of state treasurer bill lockyer, nadia lockyer restrained her post after revelations of her affair and substance-abuse became public. people passing through the bart station can see a pictures of japanese americans sent to internment camps. they show people on their way to the interment camps in 1942

brother's home to show him his new gun. investigators say it seems while the two were looking at the gun, it wasn't off, killing the younger brother. detectives are currently speaking with the surviving brother. more fallout tonight in the prostitution scandal surrounding the u.s. secret service. the agency has set up astrict new set of rules regarding employee conduct, but a top republican says that is not enough. molly henneberg reports. >> reporter: in these new rules from secret service director mark sullivan, he says agents are expected to conduct themselves in a man that they are, "that reflects the highest standards of the u.s. government." but in view of prostitution scandal, sullivan shout it was necessary to spell out for the agents that foreign nationals, excluding hotel staff and official law enforcement counterparts are prohibited in hotel rooms. and alcohol use is prohibited within ten hours of reporting for duty.

coast around the rim of shoreline. that will expand in coverage a bit over the next few hours. most areas in the 60s, 70s and 80 degrees around antioch. you can see fair skis out there, but with the clearing skies, temperatures as you would expect are troping off. not extremely cold, but still we're expecting 40s first thing sunday morning for santa rosa and napa. san francisco 52. high pressure is in charge of our forecast. we're talking about the fog and with that patchy fog returning coast side those readings maxing out into the 60s, inlands as you would expect, more sunshine, temperatures in the upper 70s to lower 80s. so temperatures about the same as today or a little warmer
