that rolling in with the dykes on bikes. >> colorful parade celebrating the rainbow flag. >> it's a pleasure to be here to share this joy. >> reporter: visitors traveled from near and far just to watch the parade and show their own pride. >> actually in houston this weekend is our pride, but i heard this is the biggest pride in the united states of america and i had to be here. >> reporter: amidst the fun there was also a serious message, marriage equality. >> absolutely we deserve the same rights everybody else has. >> reporter: san francisco's mayor hailed president obama's recent endorsement of same-sex marriage. >> i think the time has come in history, will be with us when the highest court makes that decision. >> reporter: paradegoers agreed that will be a day to cheer and say they are dedicated to raising awareness of the issue

facing the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transexual community. >> reporter: there are a series of parties throughout the bay area right now and organizers are already prepping for 2013. christien kafton, ktvu news. the california law restricting marriage to a mac and a woman, last month the ninth circumstance quit cleared the way by refusing to reconsider their ruling ruling against prop eight. supporters of the law plan to appeal. last week a key witness who testified for prop eight said he had changed his mind and now supports same-sex marriage on grounds of basic fairness. a group called ocu-pride demonstrated this morning. protesters rallied around the parade rout and at one point

with anti corporate signs. organize nicers say the corporate was not meant to attack the parade itself. they are concerned the movement is being -- >> pride is more than corporations sponsored parade, it's actually about coming together in the spirit of unity forming a community and making change that impacting our communities in a very positive way. >> reporter: occu-pride wants to bring the parade back to its origins of liberating people of all walks in life. in new york today governor andrew quomo joined thousands in a march wrapping up a week of events. the parade is a 40 year tradition in new york city. on his facebook page today, president obama posted the simple word proud along with the picture of an obama supporter at the gay pride

event. mr.obama changed his stance on same-sex marriage earlier this year and now actively supports it. for more photos from this weekend's pride event, be sure to visit ktvu.com and click on the gay pride tab. investigators need help piecing together a crash that killed a young woman. debra villalon is live in mountain view where the chp has seized a car but needs eyewitnesses. >> reporter: ken it was one alert witness here along highway 85 who got a license plate number leading to a vehicle and driver. believed responsible for the deadly crash. >> most driving taking the evelyn avenue exit won't notice the flowers tucked in a tree and left on the roadside. but they mark a light in the spot where it ended. >> any time this happens there's always somebody that's heartbroken. >> reporter: the highway patrol

found a loan driver dead behind the wheel of her audi after she swerved off the highway and slammed into this tree. but there was another car too, a toyota camera that might have cut off or clipped an audi in the fast lane. that camry kept going leaving a fatal accident in its wake. >> we do have a witness statement that the toyota was driving in what they would consider a high speed. >> reporter: that witness, who had a plate allowed police to -- >> it's horrifying that we're amidst the epicenter of these people betting killed. >> reporter: in recent days two pedestrians were mowed down by

cars and killed she believes the streets have never been more congested or more hazardous. >> i don't know what's wrong with people that they are in such a hurry, they can't slow down and just be more careful. >> reporter: the driver believed to have caused this crash may face vehicle manslaughter. today chp is looking for more witnesses who saw what happened to contact them. we do know this woman who died is from mountain view, she's in her early 20s. and we expect the coroner to share her name with us tomorrow. we're live in mountain view, debra villalon, ktvu channel two news. the family of two people killed by a 17-year-old driver in concord has started an online petition asking for that teen to be prosecuted. 41-year-old solomon nurri and 9- year-old daughter were driving bicycles when they were hit and killed. the contra costa county district attorney's office is handling the case and has yet

to file charged. the petition from the nuri family asks for justice and that that young driver be held accountable. an early morning chase and crash in san leandro ended when investigators say one man jumped 30 feet off an over pass. the incident started shortly after 3:00 in the morning near i80. investigators say they were chasing two men in what they believe was a car. deputies aired one man at the scene but they say the second man jumped aufd the overpass trying to get away -- deputies arrested one man at the scene. but they say the second man jumped off the overpass trying to get away. shoppers got a surprise when a car wrecked right into a restaurant. the restaurant went right through the front window, it was open at the time. an employee says a woman was screaming and crying and glass broke all over the floor other wise it seems no one was hurt.

the restaurant is closed tonight. oakland police are looking for a gunman that opened fire killing two people. police say two of the victims are in their 20s, the third is a man in his 60s. all three are expected to survive. police have not the released any information about the suspect or motive. new video tonight, downed wires in the east bay left thousands of people without power this evening. pg & e says the outage start around 8:30. as of about 9:10 tonight power was back on to all but 685 customers. we caught up with pg & e crews as they were working to fix the problem. pg & e says it hopes to have electricity restored to all of its customers as soon as possible but did not offer an estimated time. the 49ers are objecting to a sudden move to use tax dollars earmarked for their new stadium for teachers instead.

work has already begun on the team's new stadium in santa clara. but on friday, county officials voted to divert $30 million set aside for that project to county schools. now along with the team, santa clara city leaders are also angry those funds are being diverted and are filing a lawsuit. gas prices have dropped 25- cents per gallon in the last month to $3.42 a gallon. here in the bay area prices have fallen more than that but they are still well above the national average. in san francisco it costs $4.01 for a gallon of regular, down 38-cents from a month ago. in san jose that same gallon averages $3.87, down 44 crepts from last month. and in oakland the regular price was $3.88 down 43-cents from last month $4.31. big money backers and

california initiatives. tonight there's a call to shine light on those pushing the measures little unknown. matt keller has the laundry list of ballot measures. >> reporter: another two could be added to the list by this thursday's deadline. tonight a push to make it clear who's behind these campaigns. >> reporter: are you a register voter? >> the signatures have already been gathered and turned in. one was placed in the ball -- ballot by the legislature. >> reporter: voters will get to vote on three strikes, taxes and mandatory labeled for genetically engineered foods. >> i think it's too much. a lot of people probably won't even be getting involved with this, there's so many of them

to even consider, you know going through. >> reporter: statewide measures were on the ballot including proposition eight and the high speed rail line. some voters aren't looking forward to the effort to get their vote. >> we get so much stuff in the mail, it's almost too much it's overwhelming. one group is trying to make it clear who's backing the measures. the california clean money campaign held a fundraiser in portola valley tonight. it's backing assembly bill 1848 requiring the three largest funders of political ads to be clearly identified with their names and logos. >> people need to know who's paying for a campaign so that they can decide how they feel about the measures. >> reporter: the bill would apply to all television, radio and print ads and also mass mailers and websites. matt keller, ktvu channel 2

there very, very volatile. containment stands at zero, this fire comes as resources are stretched thin as they fight the collins fire. in utah the wood hollow fire is keeping hundreds of families away from their homes tonight. the wildfire broke out yesterday and it's grown to 10,000 acres. firefighters have only begun to contain the blaze. the terrain there is rugged and winds are gusting up the flames. the chairman of the house oversight committee accused the administration of a cover up. >> if the administration lies the people who tell untruths to the administration and then cover it up for 10 months have to be held accountable. that's not executive privilege, you don't have the privilege to

lie to the american people. >> reporter: congress is set to vote on a contempt citation next week for attorney general eric holder. white house secretary jay carne -- carney says the citation is politically motivated. more than 3 million young adults under the age of 26 are now covered under their parents health care plan because of the law. critics oppose the provision saying everyone must buy health insurance or face a fine. the supreme court will issue a ruling on arizona's controversial immigration law. the law requires police to question the immigration status. the law criminalizes efforts by

undocumented immigrants if they seek work. court observers expect the law would be shut down. a rule in sacramento would -- a federal program requires local officials to fingerprint el lisle immigrants and -- illegal immigrants and report them -- fingerprint illegal immigrants. race fans with a need for speed found it this weekend in sonoma that is once they finally made it to the racetrack. >> reporter: a huge back up on highway 37 this morning had cars inches along in silence.

tropical storm debby is blamed tonight for the death of a woman in florida who's home was destroyed by the storm. debby continues to dump heavy rain on both florida and alabama. meteorologists now say the storm should meander north for several days before making land fall later in the weekend. either florida or alabama. in the gulf of mexico, 33% of oil and gas production is now suspended because of the storm. and employees were evacuated from 13 riggs and 69 production platforms. the results of the egyptian

the san francisco district attorney's office is still deciding whether to file charges against a man police believe put an irish football player into a coma one year

ago. ktvu's tara moriarty caught up with the player. >> reporter: this is the first time mike mcgovern has been on the same field where he almost lost his life a year ago. >> i can remember the ball was here and we were all trying to get the ball out. >> reporter: mcgovern recalls the moments leading up to his alleged assault on june 25th during a game of futbal match on treasure island. >> just constantly hitting me, everywhere i turned he was always there. >> reporter: this is video from that day a game that's a cross between soccer and australian futbol. the ball was on the other end of the field nowhere near mcgovern when he was hit by a player on the opposite scene. patrick power was standing over mcgovern saying you won't get up from that. >> it was the scariest thing ever. >> reporter: mcgovern fell into

a one month coma. his entire family flew out from ireland to be next to his bedside. it took months for mcgovern to learn how to walk and talk again. meanwhile the association suspended power for playing from 96 weeks. police arrested him last september on suspicion of felony battery but he was later released and no charges have been filed since. san francisco district attorney george gascon says the case is still pending and he has two more years to decide whether or not to prosecute. the d.a. released a statement to ktvu says we encourage anyone with information to please come forward and contact the san francisco police department. meanwhile mcgovern struggles with his speech and has been forced to give up his dream job in environment seautys. >> i've had to put aside my education. >> reporter: he has dizzy spells, is prone to anger and has trouble concentrating. doctors told mcgovern that he

will never be able to play futbol again because the risk for injury is too high. he does remain dedicated to the sport and plans to coach some day. but he realizes that his life has been forever changed. >> i just want justice to be served. >> reporter: tara moriarty. a tour bus driver reports the scary situation he found on the road when two drivers were speed racing. the driver told us what happened near the high street exit. >> the guys were drag racing, they passed me on the left hand side. one passed the other one and they flipped the front end of the bus. >> reporter: he said both cars kept ongoing. the bus was on its way to ventura with 13 passengers on board. no one was hurt. the california lottery has announced an east bay man won $2 million in a so called second chance lottery drawing. lew didn't win when he

we're wrapping up the first weekend of summer with below average temperatures but our forecast will be changing a bit in the next few days. right now if you can see we have mostly clear skies on tracker 2. patchy clouds developing offshore as we head into your monday morning. here's a look at some of the current numbers and cooling off as you can see out toward santa rosa, napa in the 50s. and those neighbors will be dropping back down into the chilly 40s, 40s first thing monday morning. temperatures this afternoon a little bit warmer than yesterday's high. you can see the readings from the 60s in pacifica and san francisco. santa rosa 72 and morgan hill 74 degrees. forecast headlines for tonight we do have this, mostly clear

skies. a bit of a breeze out there. tomorrow a chilly morning but more sunshine in your monday forecast. the extended coastal fog returns, the temperatures do gradually warm back up inland and we'll be talking about more 80s. first thing tomorrow morning, look at the cold numbers when you wake up. the low 40s for santa rosa and napa. san jose 52 and liver mother in the -- livermore in the upper 40s. you heard about tropical storm debby, you can see the satellite and radar the key issue with this excessive rainfall. this storm is a very slow mover in fact, stationary, and this is the forecast track. notice this tuesday, wednesday, thursday, not much movement here and rainfall expectations easily a good 10 to 15-inches could be moving into panama city florida, but this forecast has changed quite a bit and that's still a possibility as the forecast model gets a better handle on the eventual

track. that will be a concern and that will be in the news over the next few days as we take a look at the florida forecast. here's our forecast as you can see this, this area of low pressure finally moving out to the north and east. for tomorrow still kind of capping our temperatures mainly in the 60s to the 70s. and then we'll take this into tuesday, you'll notice more warming inland as high pressure returns. it's a whip that not much changed with the coastal readings. here's the forecast model, first thing tomorrow morning. a few high clouds approaching the north bay, notice the showers up to our north at eureka and morgan city. no big changes. san jose 73, sunny vale 71 and san francisco partly cloudy skies in the morning, 66 degrees for the afternoon. here is a look ahead your five day forecast. you will notice temperatures come up a little bit for tuesday and wednesday. some more mid-80s inland with your weekend always in view. a little bit cooler for

smith later found out the inning was over. nick saben did not like the call but that did not change anything. norris down to his last strike, but on his 3-2 pitch got all of it. the 3-run homer gives the a's something to celebrate when it looks like just moments earlier they would go down in defeat. they walk off with the win. the spear league play is over. giants back home to begin a big three game series against the dodgers. when norris made contact he had a pretty good idea he had hit his first major league home run. >> i did. it felt pretty good coming off the bat. i said get them in during the day and that's what i was trying to do. something i will never forget. it's a great feeling. my first at-bat but torch -- fortunately it was a good hit to handle. it was a great feeling, i will not trade it for the world. >> i used to be a hot head but

now i just try to focus on the next pitch. once i let it go there's nothing i can do about it. we had a lot of a's fans and we're pretty pumped up, it's a fun day. before the dodgers headed north the giants were hoping they could get some help from the angels in the freeway series. the angels trailing 2-0. borleos change had the in a hurry getting that horan pitch. it was a 3-2 game in the seventh. the angels got one more in the inning and went on to win 5-3 which means the giants stay three games back of l.a. in the national league west. it's a complicated story but the mets called the yankees chicken. they got a mascot called little jerry sinefeld who's now headed to a farm in new york.

robert cano got into a manuel batista pitch, and that was the difference in the hit. ra dickey gave up five runs in this one. and hart can't believe it, the game stays scoreless. eduardo escovar put one in the gap. the white sox win 1-0 a win that would make kick allen or wood proud -- dick allen or wood proud. and the tribute was for youkilis as he knew this would be his last outing.

red sox would go on to win. youkilis was lifted for a pinch runner and given an ovation as he left the field. after the game he was traded to the white sox for utility man lilabridge and zack stewart. the nascar race in sonoma has a history of instability and today was no different. not a lot of people were picking boyer to win the sonoma. tony la russa doing the honors. gordon is a five time winner and as grabbing the lead was passed by boyer. curt busch and the unsponsored red car was aggressive all day. on lap 73 gordon ran out of fuel. gordon fell from second place back to 15th. late in the race, boyer was getting a steady challenge from

bush and able to hold off another charge and stay in front with 13 laps left. now four laps to go and the other bush kyle gets into the back of benard. boyer is able to stay in front of busch and keep his lead. back behind the leaders all kinds of contact at the end of turn three. in the middle of the dust and swerving cars, dale earnhart jr. faced some contact from roma. green white checker tony stewart moves past bush. but stewart doesn't have enough to catch boyer. moves up to seventh place in the over all standings, top spot still longs to kenseth who was 13th today. it had a special feel.

>> he and i just looked up. and jeff gordon is on the wall. i just passed him, i just beat him. to have this guy on the board is big, trust me. >> he did a great job. i just kept thinking he's a date of birth late model racer from the west. there's no way he's going to run the course and he did great. i think we separated ourselves from the pack today. it all came down to penalty kicks in today's quarter final match in the european soccer championship. they went 120 minutes with neither team scoring a goal. so high anxiety time for everyone as they went to a shoot out. rooney up, he did his job giving england a 2-1 edge. now the pressure is on

england's goalie joe hart with antonio nosarino to italy. hart guesses wrong and italy is in front. england tries to pull even, that means italy can win it with his next attempt. and allesandro diamante got it done. tiamante sparked off the celebration. moves on to the semi finals finals for their next match against germany. still to come,
