caught on police dash cam. this from texas. up ahead, you see a car suddenly veer into oncoming traffic and smash. that crash sent three people to the hospital, two in serious condition. police believe that this was intentional. they were chasing james christopher gilbeau. they say he veered into that car and caused that accident. >> what would be the point of that if police are chasing him? >> they initially tried to pull him over on a routine traffic stop. that's when he and a passenger took off. they believe now that the passenger in the car could have been a kidnap victim. during the chase, police say that he was throwing things out of the car. later they found out it was narcotics that he was throwing. the charges that he's currently facing are tampering with evidence for throwing the drugs out of the car, possession of a controlled substance, and evading arrest. >> what about vehicular manslaughter? >> police are working with the d.a. to try and up the charges because of exactly what you said. if it's true that he veered into

that other car, he could be facing additional charges. the other car was being driven by irene diaz. she is currently in serious condition. >> i can't think of anything more selfish than this. you want to crash your car, crash into a tree if you're trying to intentionally crash your vehicle. don't crash it into someone else. >> police also believe that he may have reached over and tried to unbuckle his passenger's seat belt. there could be more charges if that's true. >> not only is he suspected of driving directly into another car, that means he wanted the passenger to get hurt by unbuckling the seat belt. >> pretty dastardly. >> when it comes to street basketball, harlem's rucker park is like the mecca. but earlier this week, there wasn't much basketball going on at one point. this was during the entertainers basketball classic which basically pits the best street ball players against each other over the summer. this is a big argument apparently over a ref's call during one of the games. listen closely.

>> oh! oh! >> you clearly hear gunshots going off. the video is from world star hip-hop. apparently four men and one teenager were injured in the shooting. all are in stable condition. former new york knicks star nate robinson was actually at this event, too. he was uninjured, though. witnesses at the court say that a guy from the stands pulled out the hand gun, then went across the street to a near by deli, and that's where he fired from, into the crow >> so he went all the way across the street before he just d if it was oot randomly at a random, but when you go across the street and shoot into a crowd, that suggests random. especially with a handgun. this happened four days after a 4-year-old kid was shot and killed at another bronx basketball tournament. >> i'm so tired of the senseless gun violence. i'm so tired of people having no regard for human life. and using a gun over a basketball game. it was the basketball players

who were upset with the ref's call. it was the guy in the stand who's accused of pulling the gun. what was his problem? >> at the end of the day, it's a game. >> yeah. >> you're playing a game. >> oh! oh! ♪ i've always liked go-cart racing, but this race didn't end like they planned. holy -- >> you all right? >> yeah. >> i like the way this guy talks. so he checks on everybody and then he checks on the go-cart. >> broke my nose cone. my steering arm, you owe me one of them. radiator. >> he's, like, you owe me one of those. you owe me one of those. >> oh, dear. how do you feel? >> good. >> no, you don't.

>> how does that even happen? that, to me, is incredible that it's that easy to crash one of those things. >> the guy tried to pass on the inside and hit the curb, and that kind of flipped him up and over on top of the other guy. >> we said at one point what actually happened is the bolt came loose on the throttle pedal and he went for the brake and his foot got caught underneath. >> my foot got stuck. >> he hit that curb and it launched him like it was a ramp. this story is definitely going to make you smile. it's going to make your heart smile. these are members of a rescue team who went through great lengths to rescue a 1-year-old elephant that had been abandoned. we don't know the reasons why he was alone, but it was obvious that he was in horrible condition. he was severely emaciated and exhausted. and he was alone. and we know elephant families stick together. we don't know what happened to his family.

but this rescue team working with the david sheldrick wildlife trust, they jumped on a plane. he was seen approaching construction workers and he got too close to an electric fence. that was the first clue that this elephant needed help. this little elephant who they later named bomani, they sedated him and then wrapped him in this tarp to be able to transport him to the orphanage where he's going to live in kenya. >> they wrapped him up in a blanket and hand carried him onto a plane like luggage. >> it's going to be a weird wake-up. he's going to be, like, where the heck am i? >> he did wake up completely disoriented. they unwrap him, uncover his face and look at him. they work with him to calm him down. but you can see him. look at how thin he looks. >> at least here he's getting the proper care. >> and they can this out. once he finally calmed down the next day, the other elephants in this orphanage started going up to him and welcoming him.

syndrome. and she is one of the first, if not the first, child with down syndrome to be the face of a major designer's line. she's on the cover of their new catalog. and she's the face of d.c. kids swimwear. >> so do we know the story behind it? had her mom tried to get her into modeling before? >> the beautiful story behind it, her mom took it on as her mission to help open the minds of other people about the incredible things that down syndrome children and down syndrome individuals have to offer the world. and then she says once she decided to make that her life mission, the universe just stepped in. >> she is so darn cute. >> yeah. >> they wanted to set a new standard of beauty. and this could be a game changer is what they're hoping. it literally could be something that changes the world, and it changes the way that we think. >> and she has chubby baby thighs. this is one of those videos

>> these guys singing. >> take a look at these videos, head over to rightthisminute.com and click on best of rtm. yesterday i brought you the heartbreaking story of gaya and her three puppies, sidney, matilda and gabrielle. it was a bright spot of a heartbreaking story because her puppies were rescued by hagar. i have an update for you and a happy video of three beautiful puppies doing incredibly well. >> they're so cute. >> i just want to take them home. >> the bill foundation has taken them in, and they're currently looking for a forever home for the puppies. they were rescued only a few days ago. i feel like they've grown since we saw the video yesterday. >> oh, man. >> oh! >> by now they probably know all about toys and dog food. >> you are exactly right, steven. the woman in this video is helen jupiter. she is a dog trainer who's helping acclimate these dogs.

they're currently at the zoom room, a dog training facility. when someone does adopt these pups, and i hope they get adopted together, they'll be well trained. >> they're no longer afraid of humans. the rescuer spent four hours trying to get one of them out of a well. >> now they're jumping all over this girl like they're best friends. they probably don't even remember when they had to live in that place. they were, like, forever. that was some weird dream. now they're living. >> that's the perfect way to say it. now they're living. redneck dubstep. ♪

he dodges one and then another. >> i think the crowd wept a little more confused than wild. >> his torch looks a lot bigger on tv. it seems that the officers went too terribly concerned because he dodged them and walked in his general direction. >> i like at the beginning when he looks up at his friends filming to make sure they're getting this. that's funny. >> those were his coworkers, and they also grabbed foe ebed phot could get an even better look at omar with his banana. there he is again running. >> maybe this will be a new trend, carrying the olympic banana if you're not famous enough to carry the torch. at first glance, it's a basketball video. you can tell it's sped up four times to be exact. what do you notice here? >> this guy is dead on, sinking every single one of them. >> how is he shooting? >> one hand. >> he is shooting one-handed

three-pointers. he is not missing. and i'm not seeing a cut in this video. this is andrew gosselin at bentley university in massachusetts. according to andrew, he went 90 for 92 shooting one-armed three-point shots. and he's mixing it up, too, from all different places around the arc. you don't want to play horse with this guy because all his shots would be one-armed and you'd lose. >> is there a practical use for this in game play? he's standing flat-footed. >> i would say rarely in a basketball game would you have a wide-open three-pointer where you don't need to shoot and you shoot with one arm. >> maybe he can use that other hand to, like, keep people away? >> yeah, that's a move. >> get out of here. >> the whole video is 3:27. 90 of 92 shoots. impressive stuff. >> that's it for us here at "right this minute." thanks for joining us and we'll see you next time.
