hello, everybody, i'm beth troutman. we searched the web for the best videos of the day and the stories behind them, so let's get started "right this minute." cops say a day care worker captured the beatdown of a woman and then posted it. but -- >> that wasn't the only video that she posted. >> see how it was disturbing images of a 3-year-old that got the worker canned. a suspect wipes out in a spectacular crash. >> but keep your eyes over here. >> because just when you think it's over, it ain't. father and son elephants get some alone time and -- >> you've got some male bonding. >> see what they do when big mama is not looking. and what happens when a climber finds out getting this high is hard? >> he's going down the easy way.
3:31 pm
we got this from kark in little rock, arkansas. our story begins with this video. kark got an e-mail tip about this video that was posted on twitter by a woman named lee miller. so they started investigating. they found something else. this was also posted by lee miller, who it turns out is a worker at a day care in little rock called miss carrie's day school. in this cell phone video, miller is allegedly forcing a 3-year-old to pick out used toilet paper and feces from a toilet in the day care. >> come on, get it out. >> why would she put that on twitter? >> that wasn't the only video from the day care that she posted. there's another video of the same boy running through the day care naked from the waist down. when kark discovered these videos, they actually went with
3:32 pm
a camera crew inside the day school, showed the video not only to lee miller but to the day care owner and watch what happens. >> that is a serious offense. she should not have ever done anything like that at a day care anywhere, especially not this one. you're fired. >> miller then pushes one of the camera guys. so kark ends up calling the police to file a report. while the police are there, she files her own report because of the videos that were shot in her day care. we did contact the county prosecutor. he was unable to comment because this is an ongoing investigation. we reached out to carrie hillis, the owner of the day care. she said she was appalled and shocked. she said the parents of the little boy who were in the videos were incredibly upset. they do plan to press charges against miller as well. we did reach out to lee miller. they said that lee miller would not comment. >> i see a police chase in
3:33 pm
douglasville, georgia. douglasville police officers are after four burglary suspects. they're in the car ahead of the police car you see here. it's believed these guys are connected to a burglary of a car stereo store. eventually this car with the suspects comes up and makes a sharp left-hand turn. the cops follow and shortly thereafter, they're able to pull a pit maneuver on these suspects. you see the car topple. now here's where it starts to get crazy, right? watch. it lands on its roof. you see one guy's legs come out. cops are quickly on him and arrest him. you see another guy trickle out of this car right there, cops are on him and arrest him very quickly. but keep your eyes over here. >> somebody got away! >> oh, no! >> keep watching. there's one, there's two. two guys from inside this wrecked car. looks like they get out, run up
3:34 pm
that hillside and escape while the officers are busy cuffing the other two. the two they arrested were a 19-year-old and a 17-year-old, but these other two guys are still at large. >> oh, those two kids will drop a dime on them. they're too young, too scared, too inexperienced to hold out and not goof up their stories. >> the cops are right here. they're right here and these guys are escaping. >> there's no way they could have seen them really because the car is blocking their view. a tornado ripped through a grade school in kentucky back in march. and these are some of the images that were released by the school. >> holy cow. >> there is a lot of damage, and two people were hurt by this. >> it looks like a bomb went off. like all the windows blew out. >> there's debris everywhere, things are flying, it's dark. but look at this part here. that was a janitor that was injured by the tornado, and he is on the stairwell waiting for
3:35 pm
help. fortunately we do see somebody coming to help them and they're eventually able to walk away. in the video we do see them trying to figure out where to go. later you see them peeking out through a hallway, but the wind is so strong they can't get into the hallway. eventually they walk across, go through a different doorway and get away. a couple of people were injured, but no one had serious injuries. >> this is terrifying to see because remember the tornado drills you used to do in school when you'd go out in the hallway, cover your head. to see this video you see all this debris flying through the hallway where children would be. >> students will have to go back to classes at a warehouse. >> so this didn't delay school at all? >> no, everybody goes back to school. a troubled teen in florida was accused of impersonating a cop. but before that, he was accused of impersonating a physician's
3:36 pm
assistant at a hospital. this is video from the state attorney general's office where they had a three-hour interrogation with now 18-year-old matthew. the teen admitted during the interrogation that he had posed as a physician's assistant. >> i just didn't want any questions asked. i just wanted to learn as much as i possibly could for the longest time that i could. >> so this kid who was in high school was working at a medical office. he said he went to the high school to get an i.d., but according to police, he said that somebody inadvertently put him in as a physician's assistant. so he said he went and got a lab coat and a pager and at one point a doctor asked him to perform cpr. >> the only reason why i had to do is because there was nobody else in there. i'm not going to let her die. >> cpr is serious, but it's a good thing the doctor didn't tell him to do an even more
3:37 pm
serious thing. >> is this kid a compulsive liar? >> there's obviously something going on with this kid where he's posing allegedly as a physician's assistant, where he allegedly posed as a police officer. >> the error, they were putting me in as a physician's assistant interest my computer. and then i lose my job. this is not your ordinary traffic cop. >> i would also say that motorists are probably more likely to obey this traffic cop. >> you'll get it when you see how she moves traffic. and getting up close and personal with some whales. >> you can see they get really, really close. some people actually get to touch them. >> the mission behind the close encounter, next.
3:38 pm
3:39 pm
make your day better? >> like you. >> like you, beth.
3:40 pm
>> steven didn't say it. >> well, it's understood. she knows. >> this lady absolutely makes the people of upper east side manhattan incredibly happy on their way to work. this is crystal, the traffic cop. and she loves her job. >> the yellow, that doesn't do her moves justice. she needs some sort of bedazzled thing. >> she's got the glove. she needs to take one off and bedazzle that. >> i would also say motorists are more likely to obey this traffic cop than one that's screaming at you. >> she's probably turned some traffic frowns upside down. >> this moment of the video i absolutely love. this big, giant bus is coming through the intersection. watch her. kind of like a michael jackson move but she cracks herself up. she slaps her knees, bends over laughing and you can tell the
3:41 pm
bus driver is laughing because you see this little exchange between them. if you ever want to see crystal the traffic lady go to the intersection of 60th and 2nd and she's out there most mornings. >> because driving in new york is scary enough. you need a smile. during the winter months, gray whales make their journey from alaska to the lagoon in baja, california. >> do you blame them? >> to do their thing. no, i don't blame them. in this cool video that i found on one world, one ocean, we see some really awesome interaction between people and these amazingly friendly whales. as you can see, they get really, really close. some people actually get to touch them. >> oh, man, this is really wild to see. but i've got to say being on that little tiny rinky dink boat, i'd be a little nervous. these are huge, huge, huge, huge animals.
3:42 pm
they can just go and knock you over. >> i think this is like heaven. this is what heaven would be like. >> beth's heaven is filled with whales. >> part of this video also explains how this organization called the natural resources defense council has had a lot of different battles to be able to keep this lagoon as a marine sanctuary. they have had to fight something they wanted to build in this region and they're very committed to preserving this environment for the whales for a happy, healthy future. >> there's plenty of places in the world that you can produce salt. there's only one place left where you can produce baby whales, gray whales, in a pristine and secure environment. >> look at that. they're saying thank you. >> thank you for sharing this world with us. pullups are one of the greatest things you can do for
3:43 pm
exercise, for your back, for your shoulders. just doing it in the gym is boring. why not climb a 300-foot tower. why don't you do it with a little flare. >> these are chinups, first of all. >> it is still impressive, whatever they are called. >> it's not an easy bar to hold. that's a big ole fat pipe. it's not like a pullup bar. >> and it's covered in bird poop. and one of those was fresh. this was in the ukraine. we see these things happen in the ukraine and russia all the time. so the livermore ridge in new hampshire, where brendon johnson finds this bridge. it carries u.s. 431 over the green river. >> no ropes, no nothing. >> you don't want any of that stuff by the time brendon gets to the top, he's going down the easy way. he jumps. >> what? >> how does he know it's deep
3:44 pm
enough? >> that's what i'm thinking. looking at this, i think it was three feet deep. >> it obviously was deep enough but looking at it, it looks shallow. >> you're never going to get that kind of thrill unless you climb on a rusty metal bridge and jump into the river. >> the only thrill that's close to this getting at a gym is if a girl in pretty hot yoga pants is in front of you. >> why are you looking like that's the most ridiculous thing you've heard in your life. >> because it's making me really uncomfortable to ever wear yoga pants. >> and it makes me not want to go back to the gym. >> looking at girls in hot yoga pants -- summer fun experiments with dry ice. >> experimenting with anything wouldn't be a true experiment unless you started to blow things up. >> exactly. so stand back, and let the experiments begin. >> exploding. that stuff is shooting everywhere. oh, wow. and some male bonding time
3:45 pm
at the zoo. >> that is en garde and that is his son and they like to play. >> how cute are they? >> it's all about the elephants, "right this minute." don't forget, "right this minute" is all new, all summer long.
3:46 pm
3:47 pm
it's elephant play time with
3:48 pm
gayle, and of course there are elephants. >> i would hope so. >> as you can see, these two young elephants are playing, but i want you to know something about the melbourne zoo. they took the cameras behind the scenes to let us know what was going on, and they have two elephants that are preggers. >> i can't imagine two gigantic pregnant elephants. i wonder if they get moody and are craving weird stuff like pickles and ice cream. and now you've got two of them to take care of and then they're pregnant for 22 months. >> that's what makes them moody, they're pregnant for 22 months with something that weighs a ton. not only do they have two pregnant mamas, you've got some male bonding. that is en garde and that is his son and they like to play. >> i love how the son bumps into his trunk. he likes to back that thing up. the dad goes after him and plays with his tail. it looks like he's about to kick
3:49 pm
an imaginary ball. my favorite part is when the trunk of the dad goes around the head of the son like a dad rubbing his son's head. >> they were like holding trunks. >> steven, i've got ten pounds of dry ice, come on over. >> phone call very similar to that went to these guys in new jersey and they decided to experiment with dry ice. they dropped it into the pool and it turned the pool into a cool, boiling cauldron of swimming fun. >> it's a witch's fun. >> experimenting with anything wouldn't be a true experiment unless you started to blow stuff up. drop a couple of chunks of the ice into a plastic bottle, cap it up. >> wow! >> that was like a molotov cocktail. >> well, it's carbon dioxide gas so it makes sense. as it goes from its solid form to its gas form it's going to build up all kinds of pressure inside that bottle.
3:50 pm
>> thanks. i like that they don't care about any plastic shrapnel. >> speaking of plastic shrapnel, look what happens to this glass bottle. >> exploding. that stuff shoots everywhere. >> it turned into plastic confetti. that was a really good blast. the next time you're hot and bored in the summer, go get yourself some dry ice and play around with it. you may have noticed a little something different about our friend, nick, here. he was on vacation for a week and came back looking like paul bunyan. scruffy. >> it was nice not to take care of myself for the week, as hard as you have to normally. >> well, this has become a huge topic of discussion around here. we ended up posting two different photos of nick on our "right this minute" facebook page and already hundreds of people have weighed in. shave it or let it grow? >> i think we should continue to let the comments go, and

we've seen a lot of incredible epic skateboarding videos on the show, right? i believe we have not seen one like this. this comes to us from australia. he was born in ethiopia so you have one skateboard, 50 kids who have never ridden one before and a lot of people staying on for maybe two seconds and, boom, they're off. >> is there one guy or girl out of this whole group of kids that is able to jump on and go?
3:55 pm
>> not yet. i think this is the first time they have ever been on it. this guy is staying on with assistance and they're telling him not to be scared. they have to be people escorting him down because he hasn't discovered how to balance yet. >> it looks like when i try to ride a skateboard. >> i had a skateboard when i was a kid and rode it a lot. it never occurred to me there are places in the world where that's not as easily acceptable. >> and seeing the wonder in their eyes. and that outfyouthful excitemen there. these two chance have a big bin of live locusts. these locusts were intended to be used as bait. what do you think matt and paul are going to do with the locusts? >> i hope fish. >> fish. >> they aren't going to fish, but the locusts are definitely going to be consumed, because these guys are going to eat them. you know it's going to be bad when the one guy says this.
