scissors. officials say a passenger was harassing the bus driver. another rider attempted to intervene and stabbed. the victim was treated at the scene. the suspect was taken into custody. firefighters are gaining ground against a fire that is burning in lake county. the 29 fire burning along highway 29 south of lower lake is 60% contained. started yesterday afternoon and spread to 300 acres destroying a home and several out buildings along with several vehicles. firefighters say they have stopped the thread of this fire and expect full containment sometime tomorrow. evacuation orders have been lifted and no one hurt. still no word yet on a cause. >> he was left off the giant's 2010 playoff review roster. in a must win game tonight he came through big.

illegal campaign contribution. the fair political practices says the mayor violated state law when the action committee made $100,000 contribution to the re-election campaign. the fppc is now demanding that campaign money be returned. this afternoon mayor reed issued a response to the claim which read in part the statute cited in the fppc's letter applies to candidate controlled committees and i am not a candidate. we are cooperating at hope to come to a resolution quickly. >> now to our continuing coverage on the sex abuse scandal surrounding the boy scouts of america. an oakland man is speaking out about his own experience. mario says he was 12 years old when he was sexually abused by his scout master. he decided to sue the boy scouts when he was 18. >> what we found out is we were battling a powerful organization.

state license board has several recommendations. checking references. getting three bids and getting a written contract. matt keller, ktvu channel 2 news. >> a chase, crash, and shots fired early this morning and ended with a smashed cadillac, a damaged cab and car parts on the pavement. police say they tried to stop the driver for a broken tail light but that driver took off and shots were fired at police. then the cadillac was hit by a taxi. two people in the car took off running. the passenger was arrested but police are still looking for the driver. >> san francisco will be the location of the tallest building anywhere on the left coast. gave final approval for the trans bay tower. also opens the door for desperately needed funding. construction is taking place at 1st and mission streets. currently, the tallest building is the u.s. bank tower

racing in oakland before he slammed right into the side of a travel agency and some apartments. also clipped a pedestrian who was taken to the hospital with minor injuries. witnesses say the driver then abandoned the suv. jumped into another car and took off. sierra lamar turned 16 years old today. ktvu's robert honda tells us although she's been missing they hold out hope. >> reporter: huddling together during home coming week is a common scene. but this group is wearing more than school colors. they have t-shirts celebrating sierra's 16th birthday. grew up in fremont before her family moved to morgan hill late last year. disappeared march 16th. arrested and charges with murder. though no body has been found. >> somebody got to take that

>> in the east bay mourners paid final respects to retired school teacher today. the mother of four was stabbed to death two weeks ago. she was remembered at the funeral service at saint patrick's church as full of love, light and happiness. police say she was killed by a prison escapee and his wife who stole the car to get away. >> sentenced a 22-year-old man for his role at a gang rape. as part of the deal, he agreed to plead guilty in exchange for the 32 year sentence. prosecutors said he could have received a life sentence at trial. his attorney said he wishes he could turn back the clock. >> mr. ortega wants the court, the community, the familiar louisiana and the victim to know how sorry he is for what happened. >> five other men face trial

happening now, the san mateo bridge is closed to traffic. crews plan to replace a dozen 30 foot sections this weekend. john is live now at the bridge where the project is just getting started. >> reporter: right now we are standing on highway 92. we are actually in the lanes of traffic because there is no traffic. here it's been about 30 minutes since they shut down 92 going both directions. that is the toll plaza. those trucks you see there, those are trucks bringing in supplies for this project. if you can pan over here the other direction, this is looking west at the bridge. it is absolutely empty. aside from work crews out there. we did shoot video earlier to show you what the bridge looks like with traffic tonight. it is an important artery. and thousands of cars use it per hour.

all those drivers will have to find another way to get across this weekend. joining me now, this is steve williams with cal trans. how smoothly did this all go? >> it's gone very well considering what time it is and how long it took us to get everybody off the road safely. a few people didn't make the cut and go all the way around and it's going to take them a while. but they set this up. we have the assistance of 13 chp units. what they are doing is running up and down to make sure nobody is broken down on any part of the structure. the trucks are going to start working very shortly. >> you did tell me a few minutes ago that after they shut it down, some people --. >> there's a few who tried to make it. it was after 10:00. and they were greeted by california's finest. >> greeted with a ticket. looked like a checkpoint

key headlines temperatures cool off. early next week because this weather system is moving in from the north and west. temperatures this weekend in the 60s and 70s. will be the warmest day of the weekend and rain returns as early as late sunday night and into monday morning. really target the monday morning commute as the system moves in. and behind this, still going to hold on to rain chances into next week for tuesday and wednesday. here's our forecast model. partly cloudy skies for tomorrow afternoon. first thing tomorrow morning. and then by sunday morning, 6:00, cloud cover out there. look what happens into the afternoon. increase the cloud cover. this particular forecast model keeps the rainfall away by sunday afternoon. keep an eye on adding the chance of a few sprinkles by sunday evening. and the rainfall rates pick up first thing monday morning. into the afternoon this pulls back on the coverage. this is the first time we're talking about this.
