after a man is shot and killed and this latest homicide is rattling residents. good evening everyone i'm heather holmes. >> and i'm ken wayne. a man was shot and killed early this morning in an historic part of oakland just blocks from police headquarters. where the shooting happened and the vehicle involved is what makes this case stand out. ktvu's jade hernandez is live in oakland with more, jade. >> reporter: this is oakland's 17th homicide of the year and police are still looking for two possible suspects in this

case. now officers found the victims aston martin right here and the victim in that intersection. >> i don't think you get any closer to the police station in oakland to me. >> reporter: this man is referring to the proximity of this morning's shooting on ninth and clay. it's just a block away from oakland police headquarters. one man died. johnny gross an urban garden business found the usual crowd in the neighborhood. >> it gets really busy when the clubs close the doors. >> reporter: last night -- >> i heard bang, bang, bang. it sounded like guns. >> reporter: sure enough moments later police arrived to find a 37-year-old san francisco man with fatal gunshot wounds.

investigators marked a dozen gunshots. tran's families owns a vietnamese restaurant. he says he has only noticed more robberies in the area but earlier this month, police investigated a murder a few blocks away. >> we need more police presence. but it seems they do the best they can that's all i can ask for. >> i don't think it has to do the proximity of where people shoot another. >> reporter: the alameda county corner is not released the victim's name and police are still investigating. reporting live in oakland, jade hernandez, ktv you -- ktvu

channel 2 news. the city is currently enlisting the help of both highway patrol officers and the alameda sheriff's department to help patrol city streets. daly city police are trying to determine what caused a traffic accident last night that left three people dead. the crash happened on east moore avenue near gilman drive just after 8:00. the driver of a blue sedan broadsided the victim's car. three of them were pronounced dead at the scene. a fourth person in the car was taken to the hospital in critical condition. the driver of the blue sedan was not injured. a hit-and-run crash in oakland sent several people to the hospital. firefighters managed to free two of the victims who were trapped inside a mini van. it happened late last night on 29th avenue near the interstate 880 onramp. witnesses said a speeding car rounded a corner too fast and slammed into the stopped mini van. three people inside the mini van suffered nonlife threatening injuries. three people in the suspect's

car ran from the scene. the highway patrol is investigating the death of a person who was struck and killed on interstate 680 in fremont this morning. it happened on the northbound side near the washington boulevard off ramp just after midnight. police say the driver stopped, called 911 and was not arrested. but part of the freeway was shut down during the investigation. there's no word yet on why the victim may have been on the highway. the family of a missing woman from the east bay is holding out hope tonight that someone will come forward with information leading to her safe return. ktvu's allie rasmus was at a player vigil for the oakland woman who disappeared three days ago. >> we need you. >> yes. >> reporter: resiting prayers and breaking out into song. members of the first congregational church held a vigil for a 13-year-old missing since thursdays morning. >> she's my daughter. she's been gone too long.

was a factor in a horrific accident this morning that killed six teenagers. they say the suv hit a guardrail, flipped upside down and sank with five victims inside. those five teenagers died along with a sixth person thrown from the vehicle. two others escaped with only minor injuries. authorities say none of the teens was wearing seat belts. authorities are waiting for the results of drug and alcohol tests. afghan president used harsh words suggesting the u.s. and taliban are using fear to continue to nato mission passed 2014. >> they are trying to frame us into thinking it was the foreigners who are not in afghanistan. >> u.s. defense secretary chuck hagel is in afghanistan and

we are all equal it doesn't matter who you are. it was a boisterous crowd of over 250 same-sex rights. the crowd gathered in support of a couple that was kicked out of the mall last friday. they met with local gay leaders right after the incident took place. crew members who survived that sailboat race accident in southern california are out of the hospital tonight. the overnight race friday turned deadly for the six member crew when its boat ran into rocks off san clemente island. the coast guard rescued them with a helicopter but one was pronounced dead at the hospital. the three survivors were rescued. one person was killed and two others were injured in los angeles when a pickup drove

the high clouds heading to our north keeping us dry. heading up toward the pacific northwest. we basically have clear skies with the exception of some patchy fog developing offshore. here's a closer inspection right now. a few high clouds heading into our area. we have fog developing closer to monterey bay. and right near the immediate shoreline for the overnight hours. temperatures they have been dropping off as you would expect. they are dropping back into the 40s. 47degrees. san francisco downtown 52 and san jose currently reporting mostly clear skies and 51. tonight fair skies on the cool side. monday, tuesday and wednesday a little bit of bump in those number ofs and that will translate to lots of 70s. and we do bring more clouds as we do approach the weekend. first thing tomorrow morning, coolest locations will be in the mid-30s out toward santa rosa, napa, san francisco 46 degrees. and san jose 40 degrees in the

steve stricker was the story this week. stricker chipping for birdie. he shot a 68 today. finish all alone at 68. he also gave tiger a putting lesson. tiger was the most efficient on the green that he's been in his career. tiger feeling pretty good about his game especially his putting. >> i am probably in a better spirit because i'm making more puts and i know how he feels every day. so yeah it's kind of nice to make puts. once he put me in there when i felt comfortable. i thought this is not too foreign. this is where i was a month or so ago. i started rolling in and it felt really, really good. i just basically carried it through the entire week. still to come. the next challenge facing the warriors as their home stand continues.
