old christopher bearden from pittsburgh and on the left, terrence marx from richmond the photo was taken last night at the game at oracle arena hours litter two men were gunned down driving along -- later two men were gunned down driving along interstate 880. someone in a dark suv, shot into that vehicle. the passenger was either ejected or fell from the car and was then hit by another vehicle. the crime shut down the northbound lanes of 880 for hours drivers m coming from the warriors game as well were forced to shut off their engines and wait. we first told you about this shooting last night. tonight we have continuing coverage from amber lee. she is live in richmond with more on what we've learned. >> reporter: julie, we are at richmond police headquarters

lawyer enforcement tells me they are on high alert following the double homicide last night. a source tells us extra officers are patrolling the streets of richmond tonight in response to concerns that there may be retaliation for the killing of two warrior fans. investigators are also looking at surveillance video from along 880 and the oracle arena to find whoever is responsible for targeting the two men in the white porsche. >> that is a sedan style porsche, white in color that is a distinctive car it will attract attention. >> reporter: police identified the driver as 30-year-old christopher bearden of pittsburgh. i reach add close friend of his by phone in las vegas. he is in the right and his friend, is ap 9 he tells me he spoke with him just before the warriors game. >> he was like fly out here come to the warriors game i was like i had to go to the studio.

shooting someone else earlier this evening we found a large police response at the scene on mcdonald avenue. witnesses told our crew an older man shot someone in the 5500 block of mcdonald before retreating into his home. police had his house surrounded when the man came out again with two large handgunofficers opened fire. the man was wounded but managed to crawl back inside, police then sent in a dog that dragged him out, the unidentified man is recovering at hospital. all rail traffic has been halted between new york and boston after two commuter trains collided in connecticut this evening. injuring dozens of passengers, it happened during rush hour in bridgeport, 60 miles outside new york city. one train derailed and slammed into the second train. 60 people were injured, 5 critically. an investigation is under way into what caused the collision. >> we are not good at

because she was basically preying on my mom. >> reporter: biggest number in this story, her bail set at $1.6 million. new numbers released show a sharp drop in california's unemployment rate the jobless rate fell to 9% in april down from 9.4% the month before. the numbers from april are the lowest since november of 2008. on the down side employers only added 10,000 jobs last month they had added twice as many back in march. here in the bay area, all nine counties reported unemployment rates considerably lower than the state average ranging from a high of 1.8%, all the way down to 4.6% in marin county. those sequester cuts from the federal government are having an impact on the employment development department. edd phones will only be staffed from 8 to noon instead of until

p.m. this afternoon oakland police received a 911 call a man inside a pick up truck in the water near berth 30 at the port. investigators sent a dive team to the scene where they found a vehicle under water stuck in mud. >> the pick up truck, had turned upside down so was resting at about 50 feet of water. >> reporter: investigators wouldn't say what caused the truck to go into the water but said the dive team found the victim stuck inside the truck. divers say it was a difficult recovery and had to get a crane to raise the pick up to access the cab. that is where they found the body of the 50 yearlong shore man veteran. >> he was like a dad to all of us. it is a very very sad thing that should not have happened. >> just this morning we was joking for about 10 minutes and this is just very tough for me to endure right now. >> reporter: once the body was pulled from the water, fellow long shore men paid respects by circling and praying for him.

excitement growing for thousands of folks running in the bay to breakers race in san francisco. it is happening this sunday. the day runners lined up in the south of market area to pick up their packets from race organizers. >> their bib their timing tag and race day information. >> 30,000 runners have registered for sunday's race another 70,000 people are expected to cheer them on. now several new security measures are in place for the bay to breakers this year in light of last month's boston marathon bombings. runners are being encouraged to use fanny packs instead of large backpacks which have been banned. surveillance cameras have been set up along the course and see

students and activists rallied today at san francisco state university upset over last night's police action inside a dormitory. campus police over reacted arresting 6 people for allegedly trespassing. one student said those arrested were her guests and had been part of a group, police removed from an abandoned church on capital avenue two days ago. this cell phone video was taken inside mary ward hall a university spokesperson said the student who invited the people into the dorm violated several campus rules and could now face a disciplinary hearing. punishment over turned for two oakland police officers disciplined after a deadly swat operation. they were both in command, during a 2009 operation to track down a parolee who had
