have found a knife. people inside the gift center and jewelry mart were running for cover. some said they heard three shots, others say they heard shouts that a gunman was in the building. >> there was a lot of running and screaming. people running around frantic. >> they told us to get back in the building. >> reporter: they were among those who hid until police arrived. police chief greg suhr say it is first three officers on the scene saw a man outside. >> a suspect was walking on the north side of the street covered in blood. >> reporter: police say the man fired at the officers then went into taqueria dos amigos.

news. the owner of 888brannan issued a statement that says in part, we're truly saddened about the shooting at 888 brannan today. busy owners and workers at the jewelry shop say it's a small community of shops and the people coming and going know each other. amber lee reached out to those who live near the community. >> reporter: there is a lot of sadness out here we're on seventh and brannen. you can see the crime tape is still up. if many people here tell me it was chaotic scene. strangers sharing their stories of fear and confusion. >> as i was pulling in i heard pop, pop, pop. it didn't register. then it went pop, pop, pop again and i said oh my god. >> reporter: gunfire prompted her to run for cover.

this. >> she died of her injuries. it is a pediatric patient who has been in intensive unit since the crash. >> five patients are female including one child t. sixth is a male. two of the adults are in critical condition. stanford hospital now has one patient in serious condition. san francisco police chief greg suhr confirmed today one of the chinese teenagers who died on flight 214 was run over by an emergency vehicle. but the coroner has not yet determined if the 16-year-old was alive before she was struck. her body was found on the ground covered with foam. with the wreckage now moved all runways at sfo tonight are now fully operational. deborah villalon is live at the airport and tells us the wreckage is the only hint of what happened. deborah.

alameda county jail if dublin where the father of the missing girl was freed from custody. webb has been missing for at least 24 hours. patti lee is at the jail. >> reporter: i talked to john anthony webb about an hour ago as he collected his belongings inside. he said he was unable to sleep or eat when he was in jail and he blames himself for his role in her disappearance. we caught up with john anthony webb as he left the santa clarita jail, distrout about his missing daughter. >> my daughter is missing and i have to live with that. even though i'm out of jail, i'm still not free. of how i feel. >> reporter: the county da

won a legal victory from the city of san jose. the family sued after a family member died when police used a taser. family members of steve salinas gathered outside of the courtroom stunned but happy after the city awarded them $1 million. the family acknowledged salinas was high on the drug pcp but was unarmed and said the taser used was excessive and contributed to his death. the judge agreed. >> it was more of a shocked reaction, happy and excited for myself and my family. >> there is wrongful death out there. and a lot of cases aren't proven but we took this to trial and i'm really happy that we did. >> reporter: the family had

new problems with two of boeing 787 dream liners are causing concern. the most serious is at london's heathrow airport. started eight hours after the plane had landed and it was not near the lithium battery. another 787 developed a mechanical problem on its way to florida and had to return to england. these two incidents sent boeing

>> i don't want it to go away because i love the chickens. >> reporter: jade hernandez, ktvu news. there's evidence that aerial spraying for west nile virus did not cause any immediate problems. a study looked at emergency rooms during and after aerial spraying in 2005. researchers found no increase in er visits for ailments linked to the spraying. but they point out their study does not look at long term problems that might result from the pesticide spraying. >> there's a growing movement across the u.s. to try to overturn a ban from gay and lesbian donating blood. the fda says the ban remains in place because of the risk of

transmissible infections. blood drives say it is time to lift the ban and screen each donor. for the first time the fda is limiting arsenic levels in apple juice. today the fda proposed limiting the level of the toxin to the same maximum level permitted in drinking water. apple juice with arsenic levels higher than the 10 parts per million could be the subject of legal action. after a two month closure oakland's beloved merit bakery is back open once again. the restaurant and bakery was forced to close back in may after a fire damaged the store. today employees told ktvu they are really happy to be back at work. that oakland landmark is now open on its regular schedule from 9:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. daily. a mild day out there today.

we had plenty of fog and low clouds this morning. that's how it'll be again tomorrow morning. it was 90 in antioch. look at santa rosa 78 degrees. 85 in morgan hill and 83 in concord. temperatures tomorrow are going to be slightly warmer. that's how it's going to go. there's a little bit of fog showing up at the coast. it's patchy but it'll fill in later on tonight. so fog increases tonight. there's strong wind pushing that fog inland. monday and tuesday, clouds and cool and mild. so this pattern of not being hot. remember last week. this week and into next week it's going to be much different and much cooler. temperatures in the 80s. you can see about 11:00 a.m. it burns back to the coast. that fog just kind of stays right along the coast. there'll be fog tomorrow night as we go into saturday.

you'll see the fog push back in. the typical night and morning fog push. the forecast as you move through the bay area microclimates tomorrow. mid-60s and upper 60s across the bay. then you get your 70s across albany. as you head out into the livermore valley you're going to get into the low 80s. in the warmest spots you're going to get into the mid- and upper 80s. as you look hard, you might find a few more 90s. so it's not going to be swelters. this high pressure is battling this low pressure system and that's why we're stuck in the middle that's why the weather is right where it is. it's not hot, it's not cold. this high bumps up a little bit on saturday and sunday. temperatures come up a little bit more. inland numbers mostly in the upper 80s and low 90s. forecast highs tomorrow night in vacaville. there's the hot spots. 93 in brentwood. everybody else like morgan hill, san jose 87, 82 degrees in san jose. along the coast kind of mild.
