. complete bay area news coverage starts right now. this is the 10:00 news on ktvu channel 2. developing news in the south bay where police are looking for a gunman after one person is shot dead in a city park in broad daylight. good evening, i'm ken wayne. >> i'm heather holmes and r- and we're following developing news at home and across the globe in geneva. in the south bay the search is on for a gunman that opened fire in a city park, killing one person. in geneva an historic night as a deal is struck with iran,

limiting that country's ability to create nuclear weapons. >> president obama tonight welcomed that landmark deal between world powers and iran, over tehran's nuclear program. >> the president said the deal would cut off iran's most likely paths to a bomb and was the result of an unprecedented sanction and intense diplomacy. >> today that diplomacy opened up a new path towards a world that is more secure, a future in which we can verify iran's nuclear program is peaceful and that it cannot build a nuclear weapon. >> today's deal was reached after marathon bargain sessions which bought u.s. secretary of state john kerry. >> intense talks in geneva coming to a close as a deal has

been reached. iran has agreed to limit key parts of its nuclear program in exchange for reducing economic sanctions placed on the country. >> we will refrain from imposing new sanctions and alout iranian government access to a portion of the revenue that they have been denied through sanctions. >> i hope as we go along, we can start restoring the lost confidence. >> six countries including the united states, britain russia, france, china and germany, stretching sta stretching talks out. >> iran cannot use it's next generation centrifuge used for enriching uranium. >> al lies say the deal doesn't include iran's right to enrich uranium and would occur only strict international monitoring. >> in these negotiations nothing will be agreed to

unless everything is agreed to a source of contention between the white house and jerusalem. more details now on why this deal is so significant. for years iran's nuclear program was been viewed with greatest distrust by international community. iran has long been suspected of pursuing a nuclear weapons capabilities and tehran's insists its program is for energy purposes only. a nuclear-armed iran posings a threats to america's closest allies in the middle east and it's feared had a if ian got a nuclear bomb it would spark a nuclear as arms race in the already volatile middle east. >> a deadly shooting in a residential neighborhood in san josi. the shooting happened in afternoon at capitol park, which is in a residential neighborhood between capitol expressway and interstate 680. christien

kafton joins us live. >> reporter: homicide investigators are looking for information from the public, hoping it helps them crack this case. san josi police dispatchers received a series of 911 phone calls about a person shot at capitol park near the intersection of i-680 and capitol expressway this orange. when officers arrived on the scene, they found a man dead in the park it's early in the investigation, but police are saying he was shot at least one time. the victim is a man who appears to be in his late teens to early 20s. i asked if he had any id on him and the sergeant at scene told me it appears not. so they are working on identifying the victim while searching for the shooter. as for whether this shooting is gang rhoade, police tell me it's too early to tell. >> at this point we can't confirm gang involvement has anything do with it, but i'm sure the follow-up investigation will determine that significantly. >> reporter: i also asked if a weapon was found at the scene and the

sergeant told me no and says at this point this doesn't seem it was a shoot-out, but investigators are looking for input from the public to help them get an idea what happened in the shooting. christien kafton, kutv channel 2 news. >> fire crews are working to maintain the mccabe fire in sonoma county. flames are consumed at least 3,000 acres and more than 1200 personnel from all over the state is fighting fire. it's 25% contained, by tonight a dozen homes are threatened. the fire comes days after rain soaks parts of the bay area. that fire is near the geysers in sonoma county near geyserville. >> reporter: fire crews from as far away as san diego are scrambling to put out the mccabe fire near

geyserville. >> we haven't had adequate rain plast couple of years. in this firefighter video, the flames broke out and quickly charred thousands of acres, fanned by the high winds that blew across the region. >> some spots it was just too steep to do anything with it. >> reporter: caught in the path was the geyser's geothermal power plant, that was safely evacuated. more video shows a cooling tower that burst into flames. firefighters say it was naturally filled with sulphur from all of the mineral-heavy water that passes through, it making it highly flammable. >> it would be 2-3-story match. >> reporter: it was caught by the advancing flames. >> when they realized that they couldn't stop the impact of the fire, that they had to pull everybody far back into safety zones rfp these are the kind of fuels that firefighters are dealing with, that no matter how wet they get, in one hour of wind and sun will dry

them out completely. >> certain areas had bunches of area. cloverdale had a smarterring of a smattering of rain. >> reporter: in sonoma county, i'm john sasaki, ktvu channel 2 news. in napa county the silverado fire is contained, burning 190 acres down from its original estimate of 300 acres. the fire started thursday night near the silverado train and sodo canyon road. at one point 50 homes were evacuated, but those orders were lifted yesterday. fire crews are now in mopup mode, the cause is under investigation. this national weather service map shows the mccake fire as well as two other wildfires that started today near clear lake. dam fire is burping and is 50%

contained. the high glade fire has burned 350 acres in the mendocino national forest since it was spotted this morning. >> meteorologist mark tamayo, are the wind going to stick around? >> the winds have been trending down and trending in the right direction over past few hours. can you see at 6:00 this morning around the offshore zone in sonoma guy to the northeast of the geyserville, winds gusting to 50 miles per hour, but coming down throughout the day. at 4:00, we had a gust at 14 miles per hour. with the mccabe fire, it's 10 miles to the northeast of the geyserville. in fact, the forecast of current conditions 49 degrees and winds 10 miles per hour, humidity levels coming up at 30%. in fact, a little bit of a wind shift out of south and with that, the moisture levels will continue to come up. coming up in our forecast in 30 minute we'll take a look at the cooler overnight lows and the next chance of rain and a quick

accident near fremont this morning. investigators say a van stalled there on the freeway near vargas road. the chp says the van was then hit by a corvette and a man inside the corvette got out to try to direct traffic and he was struck and killed by another vehicle. victim's name has not yet been raced. >> a building with scaffolding collapsed and came crashing down in spartan. it happened on geary street in the city's lower nob hill neighborhood after 9:00 a.m. fire crews on the scene say construction workers were in the process of demolishing the building when the accident happened. >> just taking it down, and basically came out. so we're just lucky that nobody was walking by there. >> a light pole was nothinged down and three parked cars were damaged. a fire department spokesperson says wind was not a factor. well, 'tis the season for tree-lightings, turkey dinners and dui checkpoints.

of a distributive fire in downtown barrel geometry. allie rasmus burlingame. >> it went from a glow to 20' flames in less than five minutes. >> reporter: rob mcgonigle snapped this picture and called 911 when he saw the flames. >> we thought it was a small fire in one room, but by the time and came back, the whole roof was on fire. >> reporter: no one was inside when the fire started. this building has an office on the main floor, an apartment on the top and the person who lives in that apartment is on vacation right now. once firefighters realized there was no one inside they switched to defensive mode. >> the major issue was the proximity to other structures. >> reporter: the fire spread to the office building next door. fire marshal says access was limited because of its narrow street, but he says the biggest challenge was the fact that the

building didn't have sprinklers. >> because of that, the fire was able to extend, anything built in last two years of residential is required to have sprinklers. >> reporter: this building date backs to the early 1990s and wasn't required to have sprinklers. one man who lived in a detached participant behind the building was forced out his home because his assault and batterylect licit is attached to the main building. the red cross is helping him and will do the same for the man who lives in the upstairs department when he come backs from vacation. allie rasmus. for the second time in a month, passengers at l.a.x. were warned of a gunman. >> everybody get down! >> last night police cleared two terminals after what sounded like gunfire. the sound came from a car crashing in a parking garage. it was a scary reminder that only three weeks ago a gunman at airport killed a tsa

officer. >> what occurred here was a hypersensitivity to what occurred on the 1st, that caused people to react in the way that they did. >> when we saw the helicopter flying over, right away, that is what we thought. >> thousands of delta and american airline passengers were evacuated during the scare and had to be rescreened and that delayed about 60 flights. the u.s. postal service regulatory commission ruled this week that the price of a first-class stamp will go up by a penny to $0.47. now the price hike is set to kick in on january 26th. this will be the second year in a row the price of stamps have gone up and it may be a trend. the commission is still considering another increase that would bring stamps to $0.49. more than 50 tax breaks are set to expire at the end of the year, especially one dear to the parents ever college students. unless congress packs the deduction for tout and expenses will go way.

cafe had people scrambling to escape. the location had crews concern and prompted a large response from the city's fire department. christien kafton was the first journalism on on the scene and say fire crews moved witnesses because they were worried by anearby gas line. >> reporter: while crews worked to put out this three-alarm fire, laurel terence ran her ziolkow practice out of the building for 35 years and only surveyed the damaged and loped for the best. >> one of my friends lives in the neighborhood onesimo smoke and called me and said your office is on fire. i ran over and i'm seeing it for the first time. oh, my goodness. >> reporter: crews say the fire seemed to have been concentrated between these two building. the other of d & s, the italian cafe on the first floor heard popping nos noises and then smelled smoke and saw flames. he rushed the customers out of his restaurant and he was too distraught to talk on-camera, but witnesses may have clues

for the fire. >> we have witnesses, independent witnesses saying that they heard popping sounds and there was heavy fire. >> reporter: san francisco police moved crowds back, saying that the fire appeared to be burning near a gas line. pg&e wason the scene and closed off the line. they moved to get water on the fire as quickly as possible and called for more than a hundred firefighters concerned it could spread. >> they are wood buildings and the buildings touch above, so there is zero property line and if it gets into one building it will usually go to the next build. >> reporter: ultimately firefighters were able to keep the fire confined to these go building. at this point there is no word on how much damage was done and no official word on a cause. in san francisco, christien kaston, ktvu channel 2 news. daly city police are looking for after a missing

teen. the family of 17-year-old maliyah alapati reported her missing at 6:30 last night. she is samoan, 5'3" and weighs about 110 pounds. changes are coming to a beloved daly city restaurant. joe's is changing hands. the new owners plan to take oven at the end of january and close the italian eatery for upgrades. >> they used to give -- donate all of the food for the pasta dinner at the church that made a lot of money to run the school. this places had been like home and we know a lot of people that work here and we know the owners. we have been here a long time and i don't think they can be reoperationed. >> the restaurant plans to close on january 26th and it's expected to stay closed until sometime in early 2015. the closure is expected to put about one hundred restaurant employees out of work. bay area non-profits are

certainly thankful for the generous donations that are coming in, but as ktvu alex savidge explains the need for them this thanksgiving is growing faster than the contributions. needle this line of people stretched around the block as police from the police activities hands out free turkeys with help from the command staff. >> thank you for the turkeys for thanksgiving. >> reporter: this event was organized by the community giving foundation, which donated 1500 thanksgiving turkeys. >> you know, they ain't got to worry about paying for a turkey and pay their pge. >> reporter: meantime in san francisco today, volunteers collected frozen turkeys outside of st. anthony's. the largest donation of the day. >> we have 165 turkeys. >> reporter: was delivered in this u-haul truck by parishioner. >> it's important for us because we have to share our

good with others and that is exactly what we're doing. >> reporter: all of those donated turk ries will be cooked here in the st. anthony's kitchen and served on thanksgiving day. they expect to different out about 4,000 meals, that is 500 more meals than last year, the foundation foresees a greater need because many people who struggle to put food on the table have had their federal assistance slashed. >> anyone on food stamps is probably short anywhere from 1 to five or six meals a month. so we're expecting to serve big numbers on thanksgiving day. >> the st. anthony turkey tally showed a strong first day, and volunteers hope to have a thousand birds by thanksgiving. in san francisco, alex savidge, ktvu channel 2 news. it was 35 years ago that the father of a 2-year-old took the boy from his mother and brought him to mexico without her knowledge. well, for years the woman searched for her son, but to no

winds with the winds backing o. temperatures allowed to drop off quite a bit and, in fact, already falling off rapidly. cold enough that we have freeze warnings towards the sacramento valley and vacaville and fairfield as well, until sunday morning at 8:00. here is a look at some of the current numbers already back down to 40 degrees in napa, santa rosa, currently 42. those areas will be dropping into the lower 30s overnight. san francisco 54 and san josi at last check reporting 52 degrees. for tonight, clear and cold, tomorrow some morning frost with mostly sunny skies. here is our live camera looking out towards the bay bridge and san francisco. mostly sunny skies to reach 61-63 degrees. next week, more clouds and rain chance on the increase in the forecast. overnight lows first thing tomorrow morning, santa rosa and napa, both around 30-31.

this should be 46 degrees in san francisco, but you get the idea, lots of 40s around the bay. patchy fog resurfacing in some of its inland valleys towards antioch, lots of sunshine for your sunday, but with that and the winds backing off, that cold air will be a factor tomorrow morning. dense fog resurfaces in the central valley and we could have a few patches around the delta and sacramento. in fact, sacramento report something dense fog last check. as far as the next chance of rain, most of november has been very dry. we had the rainstorm last week and our next chance of rain pushes into the region by wednesday, wednesday night and into thursday for thanksgiving. here is the activity, tracking the timing and the possibility over the next few days. for tomorrow, lots of sunshine.

patchy fog towards antioch and brentwood. and the oakland raiders forecast for tomorrow, looks pretty good with lots of sunshine and temperatures on track to reach lower 60s. kickoff at 1:05. as far as more temperatures coming up, we'll san josi, forecasted high 63 and here is a look ahead your five-day forecast, you will notice the temperatures another cold start monday morning. partly sunny skies into tuesday. by wednesday, there is that chance of a shower, especially by wednesday night the for thanksgiving on thursday, we'll take a look at that forecast. hard to give a detailed outlook just yet. we're going to go with scattered showers first thing thursday morning. a chance of showers into the afternoon hours. you get the idea at least right now we're thinking the budge of activity will be first thing thursday morning. heather and ken, we're talking about 30s out there. >> all right, thank you, mark,
