in the vehicle is expected to survive. the shooter remains at large. san jose police are trying to figure out what led to a deadly stabbing last night. it happened shortly at 1:00 in the morning this morning east of peadmont road. when officers arrived they found a man suffering from at least one stab wound. he was taken to the hospital where he later tide. so far police have not made any arrests and have not released the victim's name. this is san jose's fourth homicide of the year. we've learned today of a possible sighting of the teenage suspect wanted for the shooting death of his sister last week in oakland. police say 14-year-old mario toliver has been on the run since he allegedly shot his 17- year-old sister justin. today there were reports that he was seen on an ac transit bus. a few passengers approached the driver at the end of the rout

to say that they believe toliver had been a passenger. but by that time everyone had exited the bus. >> reporter: a superintendent sent letters to parents today about the teacher arrested for allegedly serving coworkers pot laced food at a pot luck dinner. teresa badger is a teacher. she was arrested on friday. badger is accused of sickening colleagues at the off campus party with food laced with marijuana. the school will have a psychologist on hand tomorrow and it warning parents partner campus when students return to class. new at 10:00, a night of tear, memories and togetherness for those left behind after they lost loved ones to drunk drivers. >> it hurts. cardenas father was killed by a drunk driver this past summer. at 63, juan cardenas worked two jobs as a janitor. he was walking to a bus stop at

20s. he weighs about 140 pounds. details about the teen gunman suspected of opening fire killing two people before turning the gun on himself. darion aguilar was a high school graduate who worked at donut shop, lived with his mother and had no previous record. investigators say so far they have found no relationship between aguilar and the two young employees shot inside that skate shop but that his journal indicated he was unhappy about life. a review of surveillance video shows that aguilar took a cab to the mall yesterday morning. waited about an hour then went to the store that's located on the second floor and opened fire. a 27-year-old customer who didn't want to be identified said he came face to face with a gunman after he fatally shot 21-year-old briana benlolo and tyler johnson. >> he shot her. then 10 seconds later i heard

the second gunshot. i basically just scrambled out of the store on my hands and knees. right by the male employee who was down on the ground, still alive. >> reporter: police say aguilar legally purchased the 12 gauge shotgun last month and that he was carrying a large amount of ammunition as well as two homemade explosive devices. a family friends described him as shy, in fact, so sensitive that after watching a documentary on animal cruelty he became a vegan. supporters of protesters in ukraine demonstrated today. the bay area action came as thousands took part in a funeral procession for a 25- year-old protester shot to death on wednesday. he is one of at least three protesters killed that day. this past week the german chancellor called on the ukrainian government to do more for protesters but she rejected

calls for sanctions. >> she actually just said that she does not see the reason for putting pressure on ukrainian government to stop violence. so we want to put pressure on germany now a little bit and show them that we disagree. >> reporter: the anti government protest began in november when the ukrainian government refused to sign a trade agreement with the european union. instead the government opted to deepen ties with neighboring russia. president obama is scheduled to give his sixth state of the union address. in his speech the president is expected to lay out his priorities for the year which aids say include immigration reform, a higher federal minimum wage and expansion of free kindergarten. he is also expected to expand job training opportunities as well as retirement security. our coverage begins at 6:00 tuesday night right after ktvu

night sky after an explosion. some people drove to take a look but had to head back because of the heat. power officials say while they don't know the cause yet, they say it was accidental. health officials today investigated a royal caribbean cruise ship in the virgin islands to try to learn more about a possible noro virus outbreak. more than 300 passengers and crew members have been sickened since the explorer of the sea ship set sail on tuesday. the centers of disease control said in a statement on their website that several passengers and crew members are suffering from vomiting and diarrhea. the cause of the illness is unknown. >> i will not travel with them again.

not on this cruise ship. we were on here two years ago and the same thing. the ship was riddled with sickness. >> reporter: the ship skipped a planned stop on saturday in haiti and headed straight to puerto rico for an extensive cleaning. a pregnant texas woman who was declared brain dead and kept alive for weeks against her family's wishes was taken off life support today. a judge on friday ordered the fort worth hospital to remove marlese munoz from a ventilator on monday by 5:00 p.m. well the hospital announced this morning that it will not fight the ruling and remove munoz from life support. the judge who issued the ruling on friday said that the hospital misinterpreted the law. a florida bride turned her wedding day into an unforgettable moment. not just for her but for seven other women who walked down the

two recent reports of sexual assault head to police with concerns. >> reporter: sarah fresno checked the e-mails from police this morning. >> a guy on a bicycle. >> reporter: alerting her about one attempted sexual battery on campus. >> you think it's safe because it's a school but these things just happen any way. >> reporter: the cases involve a man on a bike groping students as he rides by. the first incident happened near the event center around

7:00 yesterday evening. to give you an idea of where that is, it's in the middle of campus and just about a half a block away from university police headquarters. a woman told police that a man road by and grabbed her behind. another student said that a man did the same thing to her around h hoover. three men on skateboards tried to grab a female student walking near mccrory hall. police are investigating that case as attempted battery. and police believe those suspects were different from the man on the bike. >> i don't think it was as serious as they made it seem. i was like oh my god, but i don't theup -- think i would report it. >> he might eventually start escalating what he does. that's really the problem with

it more so than hitting the girl's butts. it's more of what can become. >> reporter: any inappropriate touching can make somebody feel violated and unsafe. more details on the man that police are looking for. the victim described him as caucasian, 30 to 40 years old. he has a mustache. as allie mentioned he was riding around on a bike. police aren't sure if he's a student or not. san leandro police say an officer shot and killed a dog yesterday after they say it charged an officer after it bit an 11-year-old boy. it happened around 10:00 yesterday morning on darius way near vista grant drive. police arrived at the scene and found the boy injured. officers found two german shepherds in a near by yard as they tried to corral the dog, one of the them charged. the boy's injuries are not serious. it's unclear what charges if

any charges the owner may face. salmon are close to extinction because of the low water. they also say that steel head trout are also at risk but that unlike salmon they could wait another year to spawn. new at 10:00, it's one of the most notorious traffic bottlenecks in the bay area. the navarro narrows. the much anticipated widening of that bottleneck may take even longer than anyone expected. >> reporter: this is a typical day in the nevado narrows, an 18-mile stretch of highway 101 between novato to petaluma.

>> it's a grind. >> when i go down there it's always, always backed up. always. >> reporter: across the long avenue overpass this is where there's four lanes of 101. in about a mile it gets reduced to just two lanes. traffic is already starting to hit the break lights. it's 3:30 in the afternoon and the afternoon commute has not even really begun. in the morning the problem is reversed in the southbound direction. >> oh yeah, definitely changes my work schedule. yeah i'm not going to sit in that traffic every day. i would go crazy. i can't do that. >> it's been a frustration for an awful long time. it's been the reality that everyone has lived with. the truth of the matter is if we can get two lanes all the way that would be ideal. >> reporter: a $1.2 billion project to widen the freeway from novato to windsor is

along the way. the pavement on the new third lane in the novato narrows. >> we're very confident that in a reasonable amount of time we can get the asphalt to get us that fourth lane. >> reporter: measure m money county residents voted for to pay for the project is running dry. county officials are searching for state and federal funds and was surprised last year when the state kicked in an unexpected 70 million more dollars. >> we were shovel ready to go. and that money is being invested into the petaluma bridge. pretty complicated project. >> reporter: if the money come it is widening could be complete within two years. but if it doesn't, drivers may see nothing but a dirt lane until 2020. >> that is how it's going to be. it's going to frustrate people no doubt. >> reporter: david ravid says there may be enough funds to

widen a 4-1/2 mile stretch right in the middle of the bottleneck. not the ideal solution he admits but it still will offer some relief for frustrated commuters. that decision has not been made. stay tuned. take a look at a 40-year- old

so far this year we've had one day of just a little bit of a few sprinkles out there on parts of the bay area. things can finally change over the next few days. not for tomorrow. you can see on the satellite

more development offshore with the storm track becoming a little more active in approaching northern california. for now we have high clouds approaching the north coast. and just offshore we had patchy fog approaching the bay it. current temperatures are cooling off. look at the mid-40s in santa rosa. san francisco 51. and san jose last check reporting mostly clear skies. 51degrees, a very dry december. the last significant rain we had was december 6 here and of course we talked about the january, very disappointing in terms of rainfall of what we want out there. that weak system moves in on the 11th. a very wet start to the year. before the 30s and 29th we could be tracking a few rain showers approaching the bay area. at least for today it looked like the middle of summer with the dense fog makes a come back right into golden gate bridge. so this will impact the visibility in the short term. driving highway 1 for tonight into early tomorrow morning.

first thing tomorrow morning we'll be starting off monday for santa rosa, napa, san francisco 47. so for tonight we do have this. fair skies, coastal fog. tomorrow increasing rain clouds. san francisco 48 degrees on track to reach lower 60s. then the extended more clouds and we are tracking an increase in the rain chances especially by wednesday night and into thursday. in the short term we're going to increase the clouds. you will notice rain showers here in the bay area to the north. into tuesday morning there is a slight chance we could get a shower or sprinkle up in the north bay. that will be tuesday evening and more clouds approaching the area on wednesday. look what happens by late wednesday. we'll be talking about rain chances on the increase across parts of the region. high pressure still in demand of our weather but it's a trending weak air. high clouds will move into the region. look what happens by wednesday, wednesday night and thursday morning. the system approaches and this will translate into rain in the

area. finally a change in the weather pattern. this is not a major deal. we definitely want the more heavier rainfall but that's not going to be the case. thursday morning that line could be spreading to the south and more snow in the sierra by that time frame. so we're going to keep an eye on that and a big change in the weather pattern. a little bit cooler than it is today. san jose 67. half-moon bay 62. and here is a look ahead. your five day forecast you will notice more clouds into tuesday. there's that slight chance of a north bay. a sprinkle and then a chance of a shower by wednesday afternoon. a better bet by wednesday night into thursday. by friday mostly cloudy skies with your weekend always in view. no more storms beyond that point. it'll be really cooler here mainly in the mid- to upper 50s. a week from now we're talking about the super bowl already out toward the east coast. you can see here the forecast. still a chance of snow. temperatures will be in the lower 30s but back to the forecast here in the bay area. this is not going to be a major deal. maybe rainfall totals about a quarter of an inch to half an
