entire month of january. and it looked like tahoe today in some areas. the bay area's higher elevations got a taste of snow. these pictures are from highway 29 north of calastoga in napa county. snow also fell on snow tops in lake counties as well as the top of mount diablo. and we went up to mount diablo today where we found one family having a nice snowball fight. the light dusting was enough to shut down the road to get to the summit but that was not enough to stop some folks from hiking up to the summit. and we have the latest on today's weather. >> chief meteorologist bill martin has what we had today. >> the perfect day to watch the super bowl, rainfall throughout the area. look at the totals especially around half-moon bay. we got up to an inch of rain in

pacifica. almost an inch in mill valley. so nice little dusting of rain. a little bit of snow in the higher elevations. here's what's happening. that weather system is going out toward the south so it's heading out this way so it's pulling the clouds with it. maybe some fog coming into the forecast. the big story is the opening of that jet stream. we're getting an opening now that looks like it's going to stick with us as we go into the next five to 10 days. i'll have more on the details. valley fog is going to show up for your commute. i'll have the specifics on where. today's wet weather comes as california struggles with a statewide drought emergency. noelle walker was kept busy with so many wet roads. >> reporter: a cold wind in the air and many dusted off the

called before to their apartment. debora villalon has the call. >> reporter: domestic disturbance here. as recent as last week. but police had no reason to believe something was happening to the little girl. >> you cannot imagine what i'm going through. >> reporter: friends and family gathered outside the apartment where the 3-year-old was found dead. the girl's mother and boyfriend were apprehended after they were spoted in a restaurant near by. sarah kruger and ryan warner are accused of beating kiley to death. >> once forced trauma injury to the victim.

also found to be sexually molested. >> reporter: police were tipped the couple was seen leaving their apartment with luggage but without kiley. officers found her in her bed. >> thinking of that poor baby laying in that bed and the mother leaving like that. how can they do that. >> reporter: kilej would be seen riding her bike around but not since the boyfriend moved in. neighbors have called officers to their apartment before. >> there may have been domestic violence but it was not reported by sarah at that time. no arrests were resolved in any of those on contact. >> reporter: but behind the grieving faces at tonight's vigil so many questions about the death of a little girl and why no one was able to

intervene to save her. >> the most proudest moment of my life is gone forever. and, there's nothing we can do or say that's going to bring her back. and i hope nobody ever has to go through this. it's tough. >> reporter: neighbors say little kiley was from bubbly to withdrawn after her mom's boyfriend moved in. the two will be charged with homicide including special circumstances. reporting live in napa, debora villalon, ktvu channel 2 news. in pinol, police are investigating their first homicide of the year. officers were called to the green lantern bar just after midnight. they found the victim lying in the parking lot with several bullet wounds. police say the victim is a 30- year-old from richmond but they have not released his name yet. no word tonight on any arrests. a hit-and-run driver slammed into several cars this afternoon leaving at least one man without transportation.

it happened around 4:30 near 88th avenue and international boulevard in oakland. witnesses say three cars were damaged. a fire hydrant was also hit and severed. one man says his car was totaled. says that he's disabled and that was his only means of transportation and he has no idea what he's going to do now. happening now, taking a live look at seattle. the city is in full celebration mode as we show you live pictures right now of a big crowd gathering to celebrate the seahawks big win tonight over the denver broncos. they've been out there with fireworks, smoke bombs, even skitless as the 12th man is being very vocal this evening. >> the celebration did get a bit out of hand earlier tonight right after the game ended some fans set trash and a mattress on fire. this happened not far from pike place market. hundreds of folks surrounding the flames. as a giant party is

underway. all of the action took place across the country. >> and we go to gasia mikaelian who was lucky enough to be inside watching the action today. >> reporter: i was here frank and julie for the entire game. we brought you a live report about an hour and a half ago not long after the game ended. take a look here. things have definitely changed here. the clean up is well under way. you only see the confetti in the seahawks end zone. workers here getting a lot of clean up done already and they're fanning out through the stands cleaning up all the trash fans left behind. we took a picture of the massive clean up effort that brought us to this point. we saw giant machines driving up and down the field. essentially huge confetti blowers. and we spoke to officials and they said it'll take about a week to get met life stadium back to where it was before.

a grieving mother is held in the arms of friends as she struggles to copes with the loss of her teenage son. erica smith called for prayers tonight as she stood outside the boys and girls club where her 15-year-old son and 35-year- old family friend were shot and killed last night. >> my baby was a good boy. he didn't deserve this, my heart is hurting so bad. >> reporter: smith says her son was a student at mcclemmons high school who brought home good grades and loved math. the teen and 35-year-old friend were shot and killed just steps from the boys and girls club. police say it was around 11:00 p.m. when the two were shot near 24th and market streets. megan says she got a call and rushed to the scene. >> i could hear my mom

screaming. i could hear her screaming. >> reporter: megan says denzel's older brother saw a red car speed away from the scene. she and her mother are asking anyone with information to come forward before anyone else gets hurt. police are also offering a $20,000 reward in this case. after the massive hacking of debit and credit card information, 2 investigates the black market where this stolen information ends up for sale. >> if you say i want to buy a $10,000 credit limit on visa. all you have to do is pay 140 bucks and you have $10,000 at your disposal. but you don't want to get caught. >> reporter: that's tomorrow night at 5:00, 2 investigating how these websites work. just how much sensitive stolen information is out there and the race to find these sites and shut them down.

all of that tomorrow night on ktvu channel 2 news at 5:00 -z phillip seymour hoffman was found today from an apparent overdose. the 36-year-old was found on the bathroom floor with a needle in his arm. hoffman has struggled with drug and alcohol addiction for years. people across america are mourning the death tonight of hoffman including right here in the bay area. ken wayne join us now live from oakland where the actor attended a big movie career just a few years ago, ken. >> reporter: people are mourning and they're stunned because hoffman was just 46 years old. that's what makes this even more shocking. a crowd gathered outside the grinage apartment where hoffman was found. law enforcement sources tell the associated press and the new york times he was found

inch of rain down in the santa cruz mountains. davenport. there's the weather system. really hit the bay area. but a real nice dose of rain. what we're seeing now is clear skies and those clear skies and light winds are setting us up for that potential for valley fog. patchy valley fog. it's going to be cool, társ -- it's going to be moist. out by napa look forward again tonight. that has an impact on your morning commute. as we go forward, i keep mentioning the jet stream moving south. that's what the models tend to want to do with it this week and next week. they ship it south and we get into more of a wet weather pattern. hard to say how wet we'll get but we'll have more of an opportunity to move in here. right now looks like we might get some rain in here as we get

into wednesday or light showers. here we are tomorrow. here's some stuff in the mountains. here we are into monday night. see the shift, there's that flow. starts to push this way. there's the westerly flow then here comes this. it's just a plug of moisture but lunchtime on wednesday. so there's a chance there. and then there's a chance as you go into the afternoon light scattered showers and there's more back up because that flow is going to keep coming. as we move forward. there's going to be an opportunity for these to organize noise and develop into something. right now they're just moisture plumes. as they move through in the next model, they're going to -- you will see what i mentioned, chance of showers, chance of showers the moisture is going to right way. that's not what happened in december and january. but it happened now. it might get us some productive. >> we will get more rain today than the entire month. >> and it was so much different

in tonight's special report, a sneak peak inside the 49ers new stadium. it's now almost 80% complete. i got a tour last week and let's just say, there's little resemblance to candle stick. >> reporter: the first thing you see is there's people working all over the place. a crew of 50 people. project engineer jack hill gave us a tour and it came just

after he finished taking 49er coaches on a similar tour. >> we had 12 of the coaches, assistant coaches. they had not seen it for over a year. almost a year. and they were just blown away. during the tour we walked underneath the stadium to the 49ers locker room and it is huge. when it's done it will have a hot sauna even a barber's chair. and once the players are headed down to the field, they will walk right through fans. this is video that they sent us showing us the exact field where the grass will come from. it's a special type of bermuda grass.

the plan is to cut the grass, roll up if grass and send it to the stadium. this will be the end zone right here. i want to show you how close the stands are. just how intimate the field is at this new stadium. there it is. there's the seats right there. the average concourse at levi stadium will be 63 feet wide. at candle stick they are only 19 feet wide. there will also be 30 escalators at levi stadium compared to six at candle stick. and 370 concession stands compared to just 239 at candle stick. you will also notice the unusual configuration of the stadium. 3/4 of the stadium are pretty much all seats but on the fourth side it's mostly a tower

of just suites. so right now i'm in the levi suite. there's actually a double suite. they still have a little bit of work to do before it's complete. look at this they are right on the 50-yard line. when you come out here, you have a great view of the game. a near by suite is a little further along and you can really get an idea of just how nice it's going to be. all of the wood is bamboo including on the refrigerator and there are also little features like tile over the sink. one of the things i found most interesting is when we got on an elevator and went all the way to the roof. >> right now i'm standing in front of the stadium. about 500 to 1,000 people will actually get to come up here and they can walk over here. there'll be glass here and they've just got a beautiful view of the stadium. back below ground this is one of the massive kitchens at the stadium. crews will partially prep the food here before taking it to

we were just talking about it during the break. still a couple of weeks from spring training but yesterday more than two dozen players and coaches held their annual fan fest at at&t. and as fred inglis reports perfect time to turn the page from last year's long losing season. giants fans got an early start to the baseball season with saturday fan fest. they just can't get enough of their favorite players. seems the players have adopted san francisco too. >> great answer. >> my personality fits here. my perceptions on life. definitely very fitting for this area. very thankful for all of that. >> reporter: this offseason there was some thought that some of the giant free agents were going elsewhere. including tim lincecum. >> being around the teammates i've been around the most throughout the last seven years, being around the coaches that have been around me as well. the fan base in this city i mean, we won two world series
