liabilities. tesla is turning away from the golden state to build it's new battery factory. california drivers bought more than one- third of all tesla model s sedans sold globally last year. but those contributions to the bottom line were not enough to convince the electric car company to build its $5 billion dollar battery factory inside the state. tesla had no comment on it's decisions. texas, arizona, nevada and new mexico remain in the running. in our cover story, china's declared "war on pollution" seeks to clean up smog and other carbon emissions produced during china's rapid industrial growth.what does that mean for energy companies in china?some say, more opportunity. carbon emissions from china's factories that manufacture the materials for buildings--- steel, cement and glass, have fouled the air to the point where it's clear that practically nothing is clear. "undeniably, all of us are going to have to do more. // china and the us are the

world's largestemitters of greenhouse gases." now, china's people and its government are saying "enough." the unbridled gallop to industrial growth isn't worth the price of irritated eyes and throats and early onslaught of disease. in the opening of this year's national people's congress, china's prime minister li kekiang declared "war on pollution," saying the country's blanket of smog was nature's "red light" warning against "blind development." "there's still going to be demand for coal, it's just going to be measured and those companies that can teach now clean coal technology are the one's who are going to benefit." china's prime minister said nothing about rising coal consumption---china's biggest source of energy and a major cause of smog.peabody energy, the world's largest private sector coal coal company believes that's because china's coal use is in transition. "they are similar to where the us was in the middle of the

last century, using it to produce electricity while reducing direct coal use." china's prime minister says sulpher-dioxide emissions from burning coal were cut three and a half percent, last year. and may drop another two- percent, this year. researchers at harvard, monitoring the emissions call it "one of the most swiftly effective air-pollution policies ever." thank you chuck.. also from china...authorities took a small step towards a more market- oriented financial system by allowing the country's first ever corporate bond default. investors in a chinese solar panel manufacturer received as little as 3-percent of interest due last week. until now, beijing has always bailed out troubled borrowers to preserve confindence in credit markets.the communist party has pledged to make the economy more productive by allowing free-market forces to play a greater role. after some high profile credit

stores. radio shack will be closing 11-hundred locations, sears holdings may close around 500 sears and k-mart shops. also, staples will shutter 225 stores this year. the change in american shopping habits is also contributing to layoffs. "the world is becoming amazon- ized and as that happens, we're seeing consumers who used to go into stores use their smartphones. these companies are beginning to react to that // and having to shift towards a different structure what the future is going to be about." the closings come at a time when there is already an oversupply of commercial retail space. the government is demanding information from graco about a massive recall. regulators want the infant car seat maker to clarify information about a february recall of 3.8 million seats. graco says seat buckles may not unlatch, putting infants in danger. however, 7 of its models were excluded from the recall...nhtsa wants to know why. graco has until march

a surprise risethe government reports for the month of february. 175,000 jobs were added to payroll topping expectations of 163,000 although the unemployment rate ticked up a tad to 6.7% from 6.6. brent schutte of bmo global asset mangement joins us this morning with a behind the scenes look at the jobs numbers. good morning to you. >>good morning. >>are you surprised that weather was not more of a factor in hiring.
4:17 am
>>i am. if you look at the data over the past few weeksyou mentioned the 163 numberthere was a whisper number that was quite a bit lower. i don't think that many people would have been surprised if it was in the 80-90 range. >>right. the market was anticipating a bad number. >>you mentioned the weather. in the household survey they actually go out and ask people could you make it to work or not because of the weather? this month there were 601 thousand people who could not make it to work. which sounds like a lot and it is. if you look back historically since 1976, the other biggest number happened in 1977it was 441 thousand. it is odd for this to get over 200 thousand and so that has a huge effect on the economy. it had some effect on this employment report. but certainly the 175 is great in that context. >>absolutely. and hourly earnings were up as well which is good for the american worker. >>this is something that we're watching quite a bit. one of the things that we believe is that there is some level of
4:18 am
structural unemployment. what that means is that you can't turn nurses into construction workers overnight and vice versa. there's a skills mismatch in the u.s. economy. if that's the case the fed has less time on their side to be doing what they're doing. and so we are watching this intently. companies are telling you that they have jobs they can't fill. in fact in the beige book this week they noted shortages in skilled labor. it's a good thing for earnings to rise but if they get too out of control then you get wage push inflation which can be bad for the economy longer term. >>we just need to see more people get hired. >>right and i think that's still coming. i came into the year pretty optimistic on the economy and then this happened. you have russia in the background too but i don't think that's a huge factor. i still am optimistic. i think once the weather clears the economy's going to get better. a report out later this morning that i'll be watching is the nfib data which showed sales expectations among small business owners going to 15% in january which doesn't sound like a lot but historically that is very large. so we'll see if there's some follow through to that. >>brent it's always a pleasure to have you on our show. we'll see you next month. >>thank you. still to come...the big hit. why traders are turning into fans of world wide wrestling shares. plus...you've heard about the greed and the wealth on wall street... well now we are showing you the softer side of the trading floor. stay with us!

traders don't talk about it much, but some are wildly successful. and it's been my personal experience many are amazingly generous. joining us now is margery teller, one of the female legends of the trading floor and somone who is using her trading smarts for a great cause. good morning to you. >>good morning to you. >>back in 2002 you accounted for 10% of the trades going through in the euro dollar pit at the chicago mercantile exchange. what was that like being a woman on the floor? it is a boys' locker room down there. >>it was a boys' locker room but once you're established it doesn't matter. >>it's all about the money right? and how well you're doing right?
4:22 am
>>it's all about how well you're doing. it depends on your actual physical position in the pit. it was great back then. it was so much fun. and the markets were so crazy. it was a wonderful experience for anyone to be down there. >>did you still have to do a few elbows and push your way through? >>for sure. >>and you sound like you enjoyed it. >>i did enjoy it. i had the sharpest elbows in the pit. >>and they knew you were coming >>apparently. >>it was a great time back then and the market was just absolutely roaring. do you watch the markets now? >>i watch them a little bit but i am really retired from doing that. what i'm working on now is actually a tv pilot about the pits and the way it was back then. >>we will look forward to that. you are also working on a potential cure for diabetes. you have a great cause going. tell us about that. >>well, i have a vested interest. my daughter was diagnosed when she was 18 months old, back in 1997. when i first started down on the floor, i realized that people on the floor were generous but i
4:23 am
didn't know how generous they were until she got sick and people just rallied around. so first we started doing walkathons for different organizations. we did fundraising for the jdrf. we did fundraising for ada and everyone rallied around and bought raffle tickets. then i realized that we could do more because people were so generous down there. so in 2004 we started our group friends for the cure. so far we have had 8 events and we have raised $2.3 million for different diabetes events. >>great story and wonderful to have you here. you can find her at friends for a cure. our best to you. thanks for coming on the show. >>thanks so much. just ahead...why traders are keep punching away at wwe stock. will they get hit with a knockout? chart talk is next.

elaine: it was 17 years ago when i decided to become a mentor that i was assigned to christina. when she was in the first grade, she was a shy little girl, not able to smile much. christina: elaine showed me there were people out there to help me and guide me through life. when elaine let me read her diary, i didn't even realize how important i was to her, and now that i'm mentoring, i feel that same importance, and i can spread those same values to the girls i mentor. be someone who matters, to someone who matters.

andrew keene, president of keene on the market dot com steps into the ring with us this morning. good morning andrew. >>good morning angie. >>you're here to talk about wwe and no staging. promise me that. >>no staging. this stock ha s been a beast. it has taken off to the upside and i continue to see unusual option activity, call activity, bullish activity. first i saw it in the april 30s. then the july 30's. then on fridayapril 35 and july 40's i'm in some of these calls. i think wwe has a lot more room to run. they're coming out with a 24 hour wwe station. it's all about content right now. you see all of these stocksdirectv 52 week high, dish 52 week high, netflix 52 week high. all of this activity makes me see that make a push for wwe. it's very
4:27 am
heavily shorted and the stock moves a lot but i think wwe could hit 40 by the end of the year. >>are you surprised by this monster move? >>the stock used to be 8 bucks and to be honest i didn't actually know wwe still existed. so i am surprised at how big a following they have. i never knew the following was that big. i know in chicago they actually just opened a wrestling bar where you can go and instead of having ufc, basketball, baseball, or football they have only wrestling and wwe. so actually it's a lot bigger than i thought but it's all about the content play here. if they have the following that everybody wantsthey all want to be in mobile, they want the contentsomeone might make a bid for them but this stock's going higher. >>we have to take off before the bell rings so thanks for that. we really appreciate you andrew. thanks a lot. >>thank you. coming up later this week...a closer look at a different kind of chart. a start up company is launching a do it yourself "online" an eye exam. but will investors blink? join us this week to find out. from all of us at first business have a great monday!
