under arrest accused of stabbing her 7-month-old child to death. the stabbing happened at del valle regional park and ktvu's cara liu-the police chief tells me that the mother was taken to a local hospital to be treated for an apparent self-inflicted cut to her wrist of the she is at police headquarters being interviewed and told she is being cooperative. police say that the bizarre string of events started this morning, when witnesses saw a woman ramming her car in a rock road by camp arroyo. officers found the honda ditched on the side of the road and spotted the woman walking nearby, holding a lifeless infant. >> officers have on the scene at the time attempted to

resuscitate the child and were unsuccessful. >> they say the woman stabbed and killed her-month-old son. >> investigators also found a pocketknife type of knife on i fire road that they believe was used in the crime. the woman also had some injuries and taken to a local hospital to be checked out. >> we're learning that she may have been some depression. >> reporter: investigators tell us that they hope interviews with the woman's family, including the baby's father will shed some light om what led up to this senseless and heart-breaking crime. >> we don't think this murder had anything do with the camp or the park itself. it's just a remote area with a dead-end road right behind where i am. >> reporter: investigators tell me that the chief of police in livermore happened to be at the park today with his family and was one of the first people to come and try to help save this baby the. at this point police have not released the name of the memorial.
