well, the medal of honor was given yesterday to only the sixth navy s.e.a.l. in the history of the award. the hero risked his life to rescue a hostage in afghanistan. edward byers jr. goes to great lengths to stay hidden but on monday the 36-year-old was at the center of the president's attention. >> he's the consummate professional. >> reporter: he awarded the special ops chief the special medal of honor. in 2008 hi was part of a raid that saved a hostage.

the riveters. california honored eight women who worked at shipyards during world war ii. it was part of women's history month which officially begins today. and he was the inmate who nicknamed paul newman coolhand luke. it was a typical tough guy role for george kennedy and earned him an oscar. he died sunday. he had more than 180 film credits. george kennedy was 91 years old. well, the family of a famed character actor feels he was snubbed by hollywood. he died less than two months ago but he was left out of a tribute sunday night during the academy awards show. vigoda had a long tv career and could still be honored during the emmys. ratings for the oscars show before the lowest since 2008. about 34 million people tuned in. 3 million fewer than last year.
