we do not have e-great inner cities where everyone is prosperous >> right now i sit down on a one-on-one with donald trump junior and vision for the country. >> it's not about them taking the selection away from nevada voters. >> koch brothers have got into the race and a face-off. >> it's definitely an election where the negatives are at the forefront of voters opinions. >> we sit down with face the nation john dixon about voters voting for candidates in the theater of the --
5:31 pm
steve sebelius and patrick walker. >> donald trump's campaign is starting to play catch-up in nevada.thank you for joining us, i am steve sebelius. >> i am patrick walker. i sat down with donald trump, junior at the trump national hotel. >> this is very strong unions. for your father, he says he's doing well a couple of polls recently showing not the case. does he have ground to make up with the dispute a labor dispute at the hotel. >> there's nothing generally speaking because they been bought and paid for, they have been bought and paid for by the democratic campaign. honestly, the hard-working labor movement throughout this country i can tell you thousands of people they say listen where you didn't and we
5:32 pm
that is the people that my father's been speaking to since day one. that's always been resonating with. bringing jobs back to this country. not letting them bring those funds back. let's get those groups back. let's get them workiif we had jobs, we would solve so many of our problems. the inner cd youth, african, african-american, hispanics they would be better off. that's been my father's age all along. those guys, when i work on construction jobs, not our own, but i see trump stickers all
5:33 pm
blue-collar hard-working vote. >> this is also a big hispanic state.that makes up a big part of the electric here. he came here a couple weeks ago to speak with some business and hiic community. then he spoke with the president of mexico. he's doubling down on his immigration stance in phoenix. some thought he was going to the soft and his stance. is there a concern that there's a dangling of the carrot of their two potential voters i was pull back? >> i don't think so. i think he's been forthright. he's having conversations with people. he wants to know what americans are thinking. not like other politicians saying were going to lecture
5:34 pm
be thinking.that is not what he is done, but again, he recognizes the issue. illegal immigration has dispersed disproportionately affected the african-american community especially when it comes to african-american youth in the inner cities, those of the people that are been affected by illegal immigration. thoare the people whose wages have been undercut by ill immigration. that is not to say that we are against immigration. we have to do it i am the son of an immigrant, my father is the son of an immigrant. but there has to be a process how we do. once we take care of americans, then we have to n worry about everybody else. if we can get people back to work, we can educate their kids in give their kids an opportunity to get out from the vicious cycle of poverty and have the same opportunities that i've been blessed to have, that's our goal. once we take care of those kids, once we take care of our
5:35 pm
problems. but i think we have to focus on america. today you say that, oh at such a terrible thing. let's take care of ourselves. give yourself that oxygen like you would on a plane. >> how realistic is it to say give everybody the opportunity to leave and come back starting with the criminal aliens. it is a step-by-step process. >> i think the criminal side is very easy. they do their time, they let the back on the street. their own countries won't accept them back. we say okay that's allowed. and obviously there are great people, we understand that, but there are also people who are great people who have gone through the process, who spent years going through the process. they really feel strongly about
5:36 pm
went through the process everybody else gets a free ride. we have to be up to do that. there has to be a way that we do it legally. >> you just touched on you brought up the military. there's been support coming out and angst against hillary clinton and your father. what is there to do to shore up support with veterans in the military? >> i think he's doing very well with the veterans. if you look at the polls where had. we have newly retired high level of out for us. we also have bureaucrats who become politicized the military because we have a government administration that have changed the rules of engagement the generals on making decithe field anymore. the lawyers are. 20, 25 percent of my relation n class in west point -- everything is in place they are ready to go, they have to get
5:37 pm
dc telling them that the situation is change the meantime. we've hamstrung to the military what they need to do. we have the greatest military in the world. when a creating that anymore. we're creating a level bureaucracy. >> for a lot of interviews they would say how important the state is in the i will ask how important is this state and what are we going to see in the next two months. >> it's a very important state. we know it well. we've created jobs here. we've spent a lot of our own money into it before we were ever into politics. hillary clinton has been here, she spent tons of goldman sachs money fighting is here for months. weird starting that -- before we started that major rollout it's pretty amazing and i think
5:38 pm
understand. that's across all walks of life whether it's african-american, whether it's hispanic. people want to see a better life for the kids. we live in country now we are the first generation would wonder if our kids twill have the same opportunity as a generation before us or what we had and that is scary. and that is not the america i want for my kids and i have five of them. >> if you look at the people do not like the presidential candidates. they have on favorability numbers that have been unsurpassed by their favorability polls. i asked john dickerson about that in about candidates who play dress-up as a campaign for the job for real. >> it seems to me that if you divided the electorate between those two things you just mentioned, the affection for candidate versus the version to the opponent, about 90 percent
5:39 pm
rather than affiliation. >> yes, the numbers are quite strong, and there was a pullout last week, i do believe it was a pupil that said 80 percent of the trump voters were voting for trump because he was scared about hillary clinton and 62 percent i believe of clinton voters were voting for her because they were scared of donald trump. so it's definitely an election in which the negatives are at the forefront of voter opinions. >> trump last week took a trip to it wasn't exactly a president. mitt romney went to great britain, barack obama went to berlin. trump's visit seem to have a different kind of feel. it was a feel as though he was there freelancing foreign policy. his particular way is only donald trump can. how is that playing in the race? do you see that is continuing to be an issue.
5:40 pm
>> the event itself with an effort, as has been true with other candidates, these are acts of theater and they are what is essentially happening. the id actor pretending to be present. so since it's an act of pure theater, it's not anything about whether they can actually inhabit the job, it just tells us whether they can put on the costume. so he was able to put on the costume, and there are a lot of voters again voting on how pleasing the costume is. barack obama had a famous picture when he was running a senator sitting next to david for traders in the helicopter with sunglasses on getting a briefing on the fly about the situation iraq.that also was
5:41 pm
make people feel comfortable about a candidate and what they might be like as a president. it helped in some ways, but donald trump has to fight against something which is people who are evaluating him about whether he can be president have taken a lot of negative impressions based on the various other things he said and even some of the things he atcontinues to say th make people think he's too risky to be president. >> we also talked about clinton's emails and trusti you can watch "face the nation" every sunday right here on your local election headquarters. eight news now. >> pouring money into the election race. how much money the koch brothers has spent on the senate race and whether it's a good tactic.next on "politics
5:44 pm
being spent on the senate race. in fact through august about 25 million has already been spent by candidates and outside groups.>> so are outside dark money groups like the koch brothers trying to buy elections like the democrats allege? executive director admit this to left and alan stock for the right. >> the democratic party has started a big push talking about the koch all of the republican candidates here in nevada. alan, i want to start with you on this. other koch brothers buying the elections here in nevada this year? >> i think the koch brothers is spending a lot of money. george soros is spending a lot of money. i think the koch brothers have said they will be supporting the various races from u.s. senate on down. i think they are kind of staying out of the presidential
5:45 pm
that is going to be up to sheldon adelson to see if he comes through with what he would 100 million i believe for trump. we will see when that happens. >> what you think about the money that's pouring in? >> we did a press conference about the same thing. totally unrelated to what the democrats are doing. what we have found, the research we did, there was a think progress article became last week, and if you look at the koch brothers spending it's about $6 million plus that they are planning on nevada. if you look at joe heck spending is about the $2 million mark. but cortez is already around the koch brothers spending as well. it looks like the case that koch brothers is doing joe heck's dirty work. they're paying for selection so he doesn't have to spend his money and then later on he can come in with the rest of his money. it's funny that is sitting
5:46 pm
made. he has a ton of money in his warchest. he doesn't have to spend that money because koch brothers is doing it for them. we seen the tv ads, so i feel it's my responsibility to call attention to that because there is a lot of money being spent in this race and the koch brothers are trying to buy this election from nevadans. >> i would say this is very clever marketing on the part of the republicans, because i think you're right that heck is saving his mofo road. what is happening i know what going to talk about another issue with question one and why money isn't being spent. what happening right now in the senate race is there trying to get heck and burned into people's minds early and all the other issues will come down the road.so i think you're right the koch brothers a spending money and capitalizing -- and i think joe heck is waiting to the very end and then they're going to pour a ton of money.
5:47 pm
will be inundated on the radio and tv. but it's going to be when this is going to be already are ready? >> i think the issue that we have in the issue that week called to this week in a press conference was the fact that it's not just about them come again and try to buy the election. what we are, attention to is that they have a radical agenda. they want to do away with public education. we are adamantly opposed to its terms of issues. when we see joe heck falling right in line with koch brothers and their agenda. that is where i have a problem that they cut coming in, spending their money, so they think they can buy and sell politicians so when they go
5:48 pm
whatever koch brothers will want them to do. >> joe heck's have a call to privatize education. never came up to prior ize unions. the fact that they are spending the money on him, he still going to be his own guy. harry reid and others, george soros spending monethe path f of -- >> you can also watch the debate over the presidential race, against trump and the polls getting tighter around las vegas now. >> so far the money hasn't been a part has been spent for hack and -- i break down this week's meeting on a potential nfl stadium. plus looking at the new laws being written for recreational marijuana being legalized. those stories next on "politics now".

the attacks of september 11 ushered in a new era in america, one born in smoke and fire. we will mark the day with memorials that september morning including 343 firefighters and 60 police office. we will read the names and we will reflect on how things have changed since that terrible day. as we debate who should lead america, we should take a moment to recall those hours. when we were neither democrats, conservatives or liberals but americans morning together and resolving that a great nation would not end in the rubble but instead rise from the ashes. it's worth remembering every day that there really is more that defines us then defines us. >> tsteve, thank you very much.
5:52 pm
the big political stories. a stadium proposal's to make it before lawmakers. at a january owners meeting. they must give it the okay. committee tackled what is the proposed 25 page bill on thursday. county commissioner that taxpayers would pay the bill to be out of debt if he cannot meet revenue goals.but after some assurances, he has thrown his tentative support in. a deal needs to be made in front of lawmakers and he needs to make it lawmakers rather. >> if you think it happens now do you have the votes? >> i think we have the votes to get in front of a special session. we don't take anyone for granted. we know it will take two thirds of the legislature.
5:53 pm
some will be skeptical. >> nevada lawmakers are already working on a slew of new regulations in case the recreational ballot initiative passes. a proposed bill requesting the shape of edibles to square so they can't resemble candy. it's an effort to keep kids safe. it's something farley says dispensaries are on board with. >> they have been in conversation about the importance of this ain they are agreeing to start the practice now even before the larson passed. >> thaf support behind the initiative. federation of labor groups says about e200,000 members so far? backers have released one ad. the nra opened an office here. so, steve, what's the reason we are not seeing that folly of the anti-?untran12?. >> i think part of it >> spent at the most effective time of the election.

5:56 pm
>> i am sorry. i will call out the media this one. donald trump was noay he was swaying, and there happened to be music playing at the same time. the two happened completely independently of each other. that was not happening with the music. that was not with the music. >> oh, my. that is exactly how i dance.
5:57 pm
>> exactly, i cannot criticize trump. that would be hypocritical. >> it's time for what to watch as we talk about big stories. a giant solar conference is in town. and that means it will be on the front burner. the solar industries association is pushing for new legislation to help /rooftop legislation. in the consider nevada to be the main battleground. >> the child advocacy it includes a legislative report card the areas of education, legislation and new law. that comes out on tuesday. we will be watching that. we would be covering more that next week. >> plenty to do as we wind down to election day. thank you for watching "politics now". you can email us at lasvegasnow.com. >> as always we we are the local election headquarters. we will see you next week.
