in haech havana's revolution plaza today to pay their respects to fidel castro. in miami's little neighborhood the tone is marketedly different. hena daniels is here in new york. >> cubans are observing nine days of mourning and today after 9:00 a.m., tens of thousands are expected to gather in the streets of havana when simultaneous 21 gun salutes will sound off in the capital. meanwhile in miami, they are looking forward to better times in cuba. massive crowds are expected today at havana's revolution plaza to pay tribute to fidel castro. mourners will be allowed to sign a book of condolences and on tuesday, a public ceremony is planned in the square. the iron fisted former dictator had numerous critics brought but

admired him. victor thought he had lost a patriarch, the father of our family and our revolution. castro's ashes on a procession in the island before buried in the city of santiago. in miami's little havana where thousands of cuban exiles live more people are celebrating than grieving. many considered him a brutal dictator who took dream away from their families for ivan rodriguez's parents are from cuba. she is optimistic for the future. >> we are extremely curious. we love the culture and we fall in love with people without going there. >> cuba remains a communist nation under fidel's brother raul castro. cuban exiles in miami are planning a rally on monday to demand freedom and democratic reforms in cuba. schools and government offices are closed today. castro was cremated on saturday

sunday in santiago, the city where he launched the 1959 revolution, as cuba prepares to say their final good-byes. >> thank you, hena daniels in new york. following castro's death, president-elect donald trump described him as a brutal dictator. mr. trump's incoming chief of staff said the trump administration would absolutely reverse mr. obama's moves to normalize relations with cuba, unless there is some movement by the cuban government. >> repression, open markets, freedom of religion, political prisoners. these things need to change in order to have open and free relationships and that is what president-elect trump believes and that's where he is going to head. >> president obama opened some u.s. investments and traveled to cuba through an executive order. today, u.s. airlines launched regularly scheduled commercial flights to havana. coming up on "cbs this morning," charlie rose reporting from cuba on what castro's death

decades. president-elect trump claims he lost the popular vote in the election because, quote, millions of people voted illegally, but he offered no evidence to back that claim up. mr. trump also weighed in on recount efforts, while splits in the trump camp over who should be secretary of state have become public. wendy gillette reports. >> reporter: donald trump took to twitter sunday morning to criticize the recount effort launched by the green party that now has the suppo clinton's campaign. he wrote, hillary clinton conceded the election when she call me just prior to the victory speech and after the results were in. nothing will change. the president-elect also tweeted clinton's own words to trump during the campaign about accepting the results of the election. >> the idea that we are going to drag this out now where the president-elect has been incredibly magnanimous to the clintons and obamas is pretty incredible. >> reporter: former democratic

effort under way in wisconsin. >> probably every election there is a recount. no one expects to be profound change but nothing wrong with going through the process. >> president-elect trump will resume interviewing candidates for his presentation at trump tower on monday. mr. trump still need to fill several cabinet positions, including secretary of state. she does not think the nominee should be mitt romney. >> people feel betrayed to think that governor romney who went out of his way to question the character and the intell the integrity now as president, our president-elect, would be given the most significant cabinet post of all, secretary of state. >> reporter: former new york city mayor rudy giuliani has also been named a front-runner. wendy gillette, cbs news, new york. overseas now in syria. this morning syrian state tv reported syrian troops captured another aleppo neighborhood.

an effort to divide the city in two. the rapid advance follows weeks of russian and syrian air strikes. a bomb ka discovered today just yards from the u.s. embassy in the philippines. a street cleaner found the bomb in a trash bin near the embassy in manila and described as a cell phone attached to a cylinder like substance. police detonated the bomb. they called an improvised explosive device and no one was injured. one man was killed when two men opened fire in new orleans crowded french quarter. nine others were wounded by the gunfire early sunday morning. police are searching for the suspects. officials say none of the victims were targeted and the trouble began with an argument. >> they were not from new orleans but we will find them and we will go to the ends of the earth to make sure we bring them to justice. >> the suspects ran from the scene. two women and eight men were shot and four remain hospitalized with nonlife-threatening wounds.

i thought she was gone. and it was the worst 15 minutes of my life trying to look for her. >> she was found 25 feet away in a storm drain. rescuers say she had only a forehead cut and she wasn't even crying. the other four people in the car are also okay and police say the child's car seat was not properly installed. authorities are digging in against pipeline protesters, and new details about a california jo f those are some of the headlines on the morning newsstand. the "los angeles times" reports that a california mom who disappeared while jogging appears to have been beaten. sherri papini of reading was found thanksgiving morning along an interstate. she say she was chained and heavily battered. she was reunited with her husband and two children after treatment.

opec meets this week in vienna. today, opec ministers will hold talk with nonopec members to discuss cuts in oil production. saudi arabia, opec's biggest producer, will not attend. on wall street, it was more record highs last week. the dow gained 299 points for the week. the s&p finished 48 points higher. the nasdaq gained 160 points. the number of thanksgiving weekend shoppers was up but they spent less. the national retail federation customers had shopped or planned to shopped thanksgiving weekend up from 150 million last year, but they spent 3.5 million less than last year, $280 on average and in large part because of widespread discounting and more people shopped online instead of in stores. the spike in cyber shopping bodes well for today, cyber monday. online retailers started posting

"moana" earned 155 million dollars in its north american debut. following is j.k. rowling's movie. "beasts and where to "doctor strange" came in third. the ferrari inso designs to fashion designer tommy hilfiger. ferrari made just 399 of the model car. it has a v-12 engine with 660 horsepower and launches the car from 0 to 62 miles in 3.2 seconds. hilfiger says it has 3,622 miles on it and expected to go for about $4 million. i would just take a test drive.
