monica moll / director of public safety: the suspect drove his vehicle into a group of pedestrians. there were some injuries that resulted from that. the suspect then got out of the vehicle with a knife and began cutting individuals in the area the question now: is why? federal law enforcement officials say they are looking at facebook postings, purportedly the suspect's -- grievances about attacks on muslims, and a reference to anwar al-awlaki, the radical, american-born al-qaeda cleric. the writings, they say, posted cl authorities, however, caution against rushes to judgment. meanwhile, the university is crediting one of its campus officers, 28-year-old alan horujko, for his quick response. the officer shot the suspect, when he refused orders to drop his weapon, within minutes of the start of the attack. ohio state university president doctor michael drake said preparedness was key in this not being far worse. michael drake / president, ohio state university: every year we do an extensive tabletop exercise and we orient students on what to do if there is a situation like this.

>> the 'fight for 15' movement started back in 20-12...when 200 fast-food workers walked off the job at a number of restaurants in new york city. since then...we've seen some major cities like seattle and los angeles approve a 15 dollar minimum wage. and today...workers here in las vegas hope what they're calling a -day of disruption- will get similar results. they want to open peoples eyes on how minimum wage has not kept up with the rate of inflation. uber drivers participating in this strike won't be picking anyone up in several las vegas. uber says past drivers in their top 20 markets average more than 19 dollars an hour. but drivers say that doesn't account for fare cuts and expenses like gas, repairs and insurance. we're expecting some big announcements today from vice president elect mike pence. that's what he told reporters yesterday as he was leaving trump tower. president elect donald trump is also expected to make more cabinet picks. he's still meeting with contenders for the secretary of state position.. incln petraeus, former house speaker mitt romney, newt gingrich, and former new york city rudy giuliani. /// ((kirsten joyce)) the driver involved in a deadly school bus crash in tennesse.. will be making his first court appearance today. johnthony walker is facing numerous charges, including vehicular homicide. six elementary school students were killed in the crash.. while walker was behind the wheel. the interim superintendent says.. as of right now, five students remain in the hospital... three of them are in critical condition, the other two are fair.

this morning ... nearly all 81 people on board a plane died following a crash outside colombia's second largest city. ((brian loftus)) >> many of them members of a brazilian soccer team... it was initially reported that 5 people survived .. but earlier this morning, a team spokesman said another player who was treated at the hospital, passed away. ((kirsten joyce)) >> hena daniels is tracking the situation. rescue crews in colombia worked in the dark early this morningusing flashlights to find survivors at the site of last night's fatal crash. the charter jetliner had stopped in santa cruz, bolivia shortly before taking off for medellin, colombia monday night. arrived. aviation authorities say it crashed in a mountainous area outside the city. the flight's crew declared an electrical emergency...shortly before the incident. several survivors were immediately rushed to a colombian hospital with injuries...and at least five of them survived. but the tragedy is hitting people in brazil especially hard. a civil aviation official says many of the passengers who died were members of a brazilian soccer team.
