((kirsten joyce)) happening across the country... workers are walking off the job... demanding higher pay. mcdonald's employees protested to raise their minimum wage to 15- dollars an hour. employees at chicago's o'hare airport are also going on strike. early this morning... local fast food workers also walked out to join the cause. nia wong joins us now live with an update... homecare a workers, along with uber drivers at the mcdonalds across from the mirage. >> this is video from earlier this morning. more than a 100 workers were sharing personal stories of their struggles on the current minimum wage. they were holding posters and chanting....saying they want a 15 dollar minimum wage and union rights. it's all part of the "fight for 15" movement which began about 4 years ago. that's after 200 fast-food workers walked off the job at a number of restaurants in new york city. since then...we've seen some major cities lis minimum wage. workers here in las vegas hope to get similar results. they say this 15 dollar minimum wage wouldn't be just for them but for taxpayers too: ((rev. harold carnes/works at five guys "if most of the fast food workers got 15 dollars an hour, we would be off public assistance. that would lower that right there... no longer would we be having to be depending on the public to increase their taxes in order to help support a system that shouldn't have that many workers on it.")) >> those against the

((kirsten joyce)) president elect donald trump is taking to twitter again... his latest tweet this morning says quote... "nobody should be allowed to burn the american flag... if they do, there must be consequences... perhaps loss of citizenship or (a) year in jail!" the law isn't quite on the president- elect's side though. the supreme court has twice flag as a form of free speech. it's not immediately clear what prompted trump's tweet./// ((kirsten joyce)) after controversy over u-n-l-v's mascot... the university's student newspaper has unveiled its new name. according to its website... the new name will be "the scarlet and gray free press." according to the paper's editor... this all started back in april when they announced they would change the name. they narrowed a list down to five... then narrowed that list down to two. after an online survey... they settled on "the scarlet and gray free press."

school's "rebel" moniker is racist... and that it refers to confederate soldiers. some have called for the university's mascot...
