((brian loftus)) >> that's where we'll find 8 news now reporter nia wong witht he latest on the crime metro says this started off as a domestic dispute but when a third person stepped in.... that's when it became deadly. >> investigators say it happened around 10:30 last night at the back of the durango canyon apartment homes a man and a woman who used to be in a relationship were fighting over custody of a child they share. the argument then spilled into the parking lot of the complex. as that was happening....anot her man got involved and used a

the ex-boyfriend involved in the argument at least once. he was sent to the hospital where he died around 11:15. the suspect drove away from the scene....detectiv es describe him as a black male with a goatee, 30's around 5'10 and a 180 pounds. drove away in dark sports car dodge challenger. the child the man and woman were aruging over...was in a car at the time of the shooting. detectives say the child was not harmed. right now they can't say how or if this shooter even knew the two people arguing . this a random act. metro says people nearby did hear the gunshots and they're interviewing witnesses at this hour. this is the second homicide of last night and the 156th of the year. they ask anyone with more information to call crimestoppers. reporting live near summerlin. nia wong 8 news now./// ((brian loftus)) thank you nia.... by now... many of you he ala ippedthe swi- rninothat heater. because the valley is under a freeze warning ((kirsten joyce)) >> that's right so we have

night's devastating wildfires. the city of gatlinburg has put a curfew in place and authorities say several fires are still burning in the county. ((brian loftus)) >> the city's mayor says the massive wildfire swept through half of the city destroying at least 150 homes and businesses... in this video posted to twitter, an officer with the tennessee department of transportation surveys one area of the damage. more than 14-thousand visitors and residents were forced to flee late monday night... found safety in shelters.... one man says he barely got out with his two chihuahuas. ((brian loftus)) the clock is ticking for protesters fighting against the dakota access pipeline. has issued a december fifth deadline for them to leave the protest site. ((kirsten joyce)) >> its one of several recent calls from officials. but protesters are remaining defiant. they say the pipeline will destroy sacred cultural sites and contaminate water. yasmin amer has more. after nearly five months of protest, officials are turning up the pressure...telling demonstrators to leave now or face the consequences. but neither the official warnings nor the howling winter

((brian loftus)) in wichita falls, texas a man attempts a world record right on time for christmas season. klinton newman attempted the most behind the neck pull ups in one minute. the previous record was 23.... and he decided he could do just a little better than that.... but it all started one day when he didn't feel like going to the gym, opting to scroll through facebook instead.... that's when he saw a video of another world record holder.
