3 this morning the los angeles county sheriff's department is releasing surveillance video and pictures after a man was shot and killed by two deputies over the weekend. those deputies opened fire on a man carrying a gun after *they say* he refused to drop his weapon. reporter don champion has this story. 3 (pkg)(handout la county sheriff/surveillance video and picture) the los angeles county sheriff's department says this surveillance video shows why deputies opened fire on 28-year-old nicholas robertson. it shows robertson holding what investigators say is a gun. moments before the encounter people called 911 saying robertson was acting erratically and firing rounds. (911-call) "at least 6 or 7 times ininhe air" (sot mon0023 sheriff jim mcdonnell/los ananles county, ca 1:39) ) e showed that he had a weapon in his hand throughout the whole encounter. there's going to be criticism anytime there's a deputy involved shooting. //

3 a famous artist's work making its way back to six city.. but in a different form this time.the sioux city art center is presenting a documentary about american artist and former iowan jackson pollock's famous painting called "mural." "the story of a modern masterpiece" was funded by the university of iowa and shows the mural's travels across the world. pollock's artwork spent nearly a year in siouxland before leaving for venice italy. the arts center's director told us how documentary. 3 "i think it was the most important exhibition we ever had at the art center. so we're very excited to have that here and happy to see they documented the whole process and that we're included in that documentation of the mural's story."the documentary will be shown at the art center on december 17th at 6 p - m. there'll be a question and answer session with the film's

3 the vast majority of childhood abuse victims know their abusers. siouxland news reporter kayla novak met with a child advocate to get some safe. 3 90 percent of the time... a child knows their abuser...amy scarmon from mercy child advocacy center knows this is hard to understand. "so... you know we don't like to think about family members being the ones who abuse kids, most of the time people tend to think its strangers. but it is really important to teach your children that even people they know love and trust can do things to harm them and how to prevent that." one thing parents can do is teach their children about their body parts as soon as they become verbal. "so its fine to you know to give cute names to body parts but its really a lot better if you teach them what body parts actually are, so that if they go to some body and say something is happening to me, other people understand what they mean."
