3 there were mostly peaceful protests last night in baltimore after a mis - trial was declared in the case against the first of six police officers over the death of freddie gray. gray died after he got hurt while being taken away in a police van in april. c - b - s news correspondent don champion has the latest from baltimore maryland. 3 (pkg) -nats- the streets of baltimore were quiet overnight (locking arms, holding hands).. as dozens of demonstrators held hands and locked arms, calling for unity and peace.(sot mos/no name) i love this place, very proud people, nothing breaks them. that's what we want.. (covered by vo) to show you, and by them, i mean all of us. -nats-no justice no peace earlier in the day -- tensions boiled over moments after a judge declared a mistrial in the case of officer william porter.(sot mos protester) if we want our voices heard we have to speak through action. porter had faced manslaughter and other charges for failing to get medical help for gray -- who died in april after suffering a severe spinal cord injury while in police custody. after three days of deliberations...the jury emerged deadlocked on all counts.(sot richard shipley, freddie gray's stepfather) we

are charged with disorderly conduct. 3 a two car crash sent a couple of people to the hospital last night in sioux city.the accident happened after seven o'clock. a car and a mini van crashed at the intersection of indiana and south martha in morningside. one of the cars went into the front of a house in the 900 block of south martha... knocking the gas meter loose... so the gas had to be shut off. one person in each car was taken to the hospital. we don't know how hurt that person was... or what caused the crash. 3 sad news this morning... a farm hand is dead after being trapped in a grain bin.39 - year - old eric reasland from creston... iowa... got trapped in a grain bin near the southern iowa town of murray. rescue crews were called in at 9 o'clock yesterday morning. reasland and the owner of the farm climbed to the top of the bin... there was a frozen crust over it. the owner went down to start an auger. when he got back to the

3 hopefully you weren't on board a recent flight out of sioux falls that was stuck on the tarmac for *seven* hours.folks boarded this delta flight just before six wednesday morning. but instead of taking off for atlanta... the plane stayed on the ground. delta airlines says the flight was delayed because it was blocked by other aircraft that were waiting for de - icing. the company says the passengers *did* have the option to get off the plane. only four passengers decided to continue with the flight. a new federal rule says passengers cannot be on the plane waiting to take off for more than three hours. there are exceptions... though... and delta says it did *not* violate the rules. 3 the suspect accused of robbing a man at gun - point outside a sioux city auto repair shop was in court yesterday morning.23 - year - old regan maryland has entered a plea of *not* guilty. he's accused of robbing an employee of k & n auto on the city's westside.

maryland asked the employee to come outside to look at his vehicle. that's when he showed a gun and demanded money. maryland is charged with robbery in the first degree. 3 another extension has been granted in the mental competency hearing for a siouxland man accused of killing his mother.the judge has given attorneys until december 31st to file on the mental competency of the mental competency of jonathan (new - neighbor) neunaber. this is the second extension the judge has approved. a ruling on (new - neighbor)'s neunaber's competency isn't expected until sometime in january. the body of (new - neighbor)'s neunaber's mom esther was found in her home outside of akron in july of 20 - 14. her death was ruled a homicide. the body of her husband donald was found at the same time... but it was determined he died of natural causes. 3 with the cold weather we've had the last few days... we'd like to take the time to remind you that a lot of kids

who 3 3 a two o r crash sent a couple of people to the hospital last night in sioux city.the accident happened after seven o'clock. a car and a mini van crashed at the intersection of indiana and south martha in morningside. one of the cars went into the front of a house in the 900 block of south martha... knocking the gas meter loose... so the gas h to be shut off. one person in each car was taken to the hospital. we don't know how hurt that person was... or what caused the crash. 3 sad news this morning... a farm hand is dead after being trapped in a grain bin.39 - year - old eric reasland from creston... iowa... got trapped in a grain bin near the southern iowa town of murray. rescue

the survey shows some positive trends... as well as some concerning ones. c - b - s news correspondent marlie hall takes a look from new york. 3 (package script)smoking among teenagers is at its lowest level since the government's monitoring the future survey began in the researchers say (gfx) 5.5 percent of high school seniors smoke, down from 10.7 percent in 2010. alcohol use also dropped significantly. but the use of e-cigarettes and hookas remains high . the number of teens smoking marijuana hasn't changed, although researchers were startled to find (gfx) 6 percent of high school seniors smoke it every day.(dr. wilson compton/deputy director, national institute on drug abuse) that surprises me. more kids are getting high every day on marijuana than smoking cigarettes.(bridge marlie hall, cbs news, new york) despite the ongoing opioid overdose epidemic the number of teenagers abusing prescription painkillers continued to decline.(track)a decade ago one in 10 high school seniors reported abusing prescription opioids, now that number is one in 20.
