firefighter.(jean - ee) jeanne (vuh - kull - skus) vakulskas became sioux city fire rescue's first female firefighter in 19 - 85 after staring her career as a nurse. she served for 22 years until she retired in 2007. she died this weekend at her home in sioux city. yesterday morning her former colleagues joined her family and friends saying "goodbye" at her funeral at saint t joseph's catholic church.
