responsibility for the attacks. indonesia is the world's most populous muslim nation. 3 here's the latest on that lawsuit against those drainage districts in northwest iowa... parts of a federal lawsuit filed by the des moines waterworks against three northwest iowa drainage districts over nitrate runoff are now going to the iowa supreme court.that's after the order of the federal judge who's been asked to dismiss the lawsuit. the des moines utility says it cost a record one - and - a - half million dollars last year to run the equipment that keeps tap water below the federally mandated limit for nitrates. it blames the drainage districts for not preventing the nitrates from entering the raccoon river in the first place. the federal judge says there are a number of questions about *state* law that could impact the *federal* case... and he wants the state supreme court to rule on them. 3 some sad news this morning... former nebraska runningback lawrence phillips has been found dead in his cell at a

3 a lot of teachers in the detroit public schools spent a third day out sick... in protest of conditions at the debt - strapped school district. since monday... almost 70 schools have had to close because of a teacher "sick - out." reporter anna werner shows us why they're so upset. 3 (pkg) (kindergarten classroom) at the spain elementary school today, some kindergarteners wore their coats in class: in several rooms, it's just too cold for 5 year olds.(nats school counselor)school counselor lekia wilson led us on a tour.(nats coming thru door)(anna) what's that smell?? (trim) and teachers were just fed up. darnell earley is the emergency manager appointed by the governor to fix the problems. (1825 earley) i want everyone to understand what we're up against. for all intents and purposes, the district is insolvent. and certainly if we don't get the money that we need to deal with the debt situation, that's only gonna make it worse. one of the things earley says the district cannot afford is a

elementary school. 1541 aw: doesn't that cry out for sort of immediate repairs in your view? de: it cries out for the immediate action, and my understanding is that there is a plan to do that, 1548but union head bailey isn't satisfied with that answer( do we need this or can we just butt bite to bite?) limit for nitrates. it blames the drainage districts for not preventing the nitrates from entering the raccoon river in the first place. the federal judge says there are a number of questions about *state* law that could impact the *federal* case... and he wants the state supreme court to rule on them. 3 some sad news this morning... former nebraska runningback lawrence phillips has been found dead in his cell at a california prison. investigators think it was a suicide. 3 tuesday... phillips was in court for a preliminary hearing for a murder charge. police say he strangled his prison cellmate to death last year. phillips was serving a 31 - year - *plus* term for assaulting his former girlfriend and driving his car into some teenagers. the 40 - year - old was a star for the huskers in the 90's... and was a 1st round draft pick of the rams... but only played three seasons in the n - f - l. 3 the lucus oil chili bowl is a

we take a look from our (square tire) camera. 3 google is looking for partners in detroit for driverless cars. here's your c - net tech update. 3 google is expanding its plans for 3 virtual reality. i'm bridget carey. this is your cnet update. it appears that 2016 will be the year of virtual reality, and google is hungry to rule the vr space. the company has created a division just to focus on virtual reality products, and the guy who used to run gmail and google docs is now in charge of vr. google already dabbles in vr with its cardboard headset, and it worked with gopro to create a rig for creating 360-degree videos. it's called jump. google is likely amping up its efforts because it doesn't want to be left in facebook's virtual

headset, which just began taking preorders, costing $600 dollars and shipping in march. (video from google 00:55-01:37) expect vr to be a big talking point in may during google's annual i/o developers conference. it takes place on may 18. this event has gone on for ten years -- and it's where we check out software updates and see google's biggest ideas on display. i/o is where google glass made its debut.car talk is likely to also be a focus of the event, and the location this year is the shoreline ampitheater in mountain view, california, which has a large parking lot to show off car tech. and it's also right next to google's campus.over at the detroit auto show, going on now, google is looking to work with more traditional car companies. the new head of self-driving cars at google said he wants to make more partnerships with carmakers because, he says, google can't do this alone. the wall street journal reports that google is
